Anachronisms?[edit]

Just wondering if there's a compilation of anachronisms anywhere, because I think it would be a good idea. I overheard Asgeir's line "I put up a chunk of the gold she needed to get the place off the ground." Obviously a reference to flight. And even though there are dragons in TES and other ways to fly, it would never occur to anyone to make a comparison between flight and the success of a business. It's not interesting enough for a Note, but maybe there's a page for all this stuff I haven't come across? 64.121.45.12 19:59, 14 May 2015 (GMT)

There is a history of flying things in TES. Bloodmoon featured an airship, Morrowind and previous series had levitation, and there are many flying animals to take inspiration from. I don't see this as something that wouldn't occur to anyone. Jeancey (talk) 20:10, 14 May 2015 (GMT)
Getting something 'off the ground' is a common phrase and comes from the 'groundwork' behind setting something up; in business there's planning permission, building and supplier contracts, etc. The phrase is as related to flying as 'smooth sailing' is to sailing when used in response to the question "How's business?" Yeah, that's common English. Nevertheless, a collection of TES sayings would be interesting (Shor's bones, s'wit, Tamrielic creatures in place of animals, etc). —Legoless (talk) 23:17, 14 May 2015 (GMT)
