Bugs[edit]

Dragon also flies backward on PC. This is post-1.2 patch, which supposedly fixed that issue.Marstinson 05:53, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

the 1.2 patch hasnt fixed it and it happens anywhere (Eddie The Head 05:55, 3 December 2011 (UTC))
I too, have experienced this. The only dragon that has glitched for me is the one at this location; as such, I cannot kill it. It remains glitched even if I leave and return to the location at a different time. (PC) — Unsigned comment by 188.141.4.187 (talk) at 23:14 on 5 December 2011
Am experiencing this issue post-patch (6 Dec); the only thing that seemed to help was using the console to 'recycle' the malfunctioning dragon. The replacement actor behaved properly and could be killed, completing a dragon-bounty quest, but did not provide a dragon soul. Not sure if that helps anyone, but thought I'd mention it. Went to this location and encounter the dragon. As mentioned, everything was very choppy and un-playable. The dragon is quite glitched...flying backwards, upside down, through mountains, etc. I reloaded a new save, and hope not to enter this area again until fixed. Update (16 Dec 11) Patch 1.3 I went back to this same area, seeing the new patch was out, and addressing erratic dragons was one of the items mentioned. Well, the dragon DID properly engage me. I killed it without any crazy things happening. However, it did not give up it's soul...something supposedly fixed by patch 1.2. Well, I guess I'd rather have a dead dragon and no soul captured, than a dragon that goes crazy and glitches the game. --66.227.219.174 05:55, 16 December 2011 (UTC)
Yeah this was the only location pre 1.3 that I even encountered the backwards flying and/or lagging, chopping, crashing issues that could happen. Had them every time I went near here but now seems fine. Went up to Witchmist Grove, the Orc Stronghold near hear, no lag, no chop, ran smooth and normal. Yays for Patches! () Am playing vanilla unpatched game on 360. Completed Special Delivery quest quite some time ago, and have already cleared Bonestrewn Crest's original dragon and unlocked the wordwall. A Frost Dragon appears for me at this location now, but it spawns in mid-air in the sitting-on-the-wall posture some yards away from the wall. It's completely unresponsive although it shows up as an enemy on the HUD. I can deplete its Health Bar to zero with arrows, yet it doesn't die. Performance-wise, the game runs fine in the vicinity of the dragon, but becomes very laggy some distance away, which I assume is the boundary for this particular outdoor cell.Evil-i 18:53, 16 August 2012 (UTC)

Another Dragon Bug?[edit]

(moved from the article; originally added by 74.212.186.138

  • (PS3 & PC) Experienced major bug with the dragon in this area where it flies backwards/upside-down and all around and will not initiate combat. Not sure if the bug is related to accepting Jorleif's mission to kill this dragon.

Not able to absorb dragon soul[edit]

I killed this dragon as part of the miscellaneous quest to kill it for a bounty from Jorleif. I think I must have killed a dragon in this area earlier, as Bonestrewn Crest was already marked as cleared even though the location marker is still black. After killing the dragon I was able to empty its inventory but the dragon did not burn up and I didn't get my dragon soul. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this related to the fact that I had the miscellaneous quest active at the time? I'm on the Xbox if that makes a difference, and also had no troubles with it flying backwards etc. Obax 23:37, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

From my experience, being unable to absorb a dragon's soul only occurs for respawned dragons. --Aezay 22:50, 4 January 2012 (UTC)
I also am playing on xbox and have the same problem. Dragon flies fine but when i kill it i can't absorb its soul have tried many times but still no luck. 123.211.186.7 01:58, 29 January 2012 (UTC)

Kill the Dragon at Bonestrewn Crest (Helping the People of Eastmarch Glitch)[edit]

As part of my quest to become Thane of Eastmarch, I was tasked with killing the dragon at Bonestrewn Crest. I killed the dragon and cleared Bonestrewn Crest long before I was given this quest, and no new dragon has spawned there for me to slay. Will a dragon ever re-spawn there, or is this quest glitched if you kill the dragon beforehand? Anyone else experiencing this error? — Unsigned comment by 107.5.57.73 (talk) at 22:22 on 10 January 2012

I experienced the same bug but for different quests (PS3). I wrote about it in Dragon seeker/Rebuilding the blade/Dragon Lair talk pages. But no fix reported yet. The quest pointer points to the ground and no dragon respawn no matter how long I waited (I waited 30 days at Riften house.) I wrote a way around the dragon seeker quest, but it wasn't really the bug fix. In my game, I have 2 bugged lairs. The dragon at a different lair respawn except those two lairs. Amanda Fallchild says: I play Skyrim for PC. Before I got the Bounty from Jorleif; I killed the dragon on Bonestrewn Crest. I received the dragon soul and the spell or whatever it is you get from them, plus the bones and etc.
Later on after I played the game a bit more I got a Bounty; called Jorleif's Bounty. The dragon DID re-spawn but I wasn't able to receive the Dragon soul or the spell thing. I just think it's a glitch. It's happened to me a few times. Anyone who has this problem, don't worry to much about it. — Unsigned comment by 71.212.122.18 (talk) at 02:42 on 7 May 2013

Fix for Bonestrewn prob.[edit]

I wrote Setstage BQ04 100 in the console and it should complete the quest ofc you wont get a dragon soul but atleast it wont take up space. I hope this will help others aswell. This works for PC dunno about all the other consoles.— Unsigned comment by 178.254.76.47 (talk) at 19:11 on 28 January 2012

Works for me! Thanks. --87.17.225.237 21:54, 15 March 2012 (UTC)
Tnx for that it worked, but now i have quest for blades to kill dragon there, anyone know the console command for that quest???— Unsigned comment by 77.46.166.42 (talk) at 16:09 on 18 April 2012
You could try Setstage FreeformSkyHavenTempleB 20 and see if that works. The console commands can be found on their respective quest pages. Those dragons sure are buggy, though... Wolok gro-Barok 16:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
Thanks man, it worked. — Unsigned comment by 178.223.77.192 (talk) at 18:39 on 21 April 2012

Buggy[edit]

Killed Dragon no bugs took soul, unable to complete quest to jorlief even tho i have the bounty and map says cleared new bug (PC)!!!— Unsigned comment by Sumnerkagen (talkcontribs) at 10:38 on 10 March 2012

Since you are on the PC, you can use the console command provided by the IP above. Wolok gro-Barok 18:14, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Bonestrewn Crest Console Command[edit]

According to a few users I've talk with recently via e-mail, it is possible to reach Bonestrewn Crest via console commands by simply typing coc BonestrewnCrestExterior01. At the moment, I don't have access to Skyrim (the new beta patch has broken my game completely), and so I need someone to test this out in-game. Additionally, I have noticed that all exteriors for Skyrim are missing the "Console Location Code(s)" parameter. Is there any particular reason for this, or has no one had the time to add these codes? --Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 19:25, 2 April 2012 (UTC)

Dragon lost its flesh[edit]

Not sure if anyone else experienced this odd occurrence. When I arrived at the Bonestrewn Crest, the dragon I fought, which was a generic "Dragon", soon appeared overhead and initiated combat with me, my follower Erik the Slayer, and my summoned storm atronach. In the middle of the fight, the dragon started shedding its skin, as if it died with the flame effect and all. I guess the game registered its death because I proceeded to absorb its soul with the music effect, but oddly enough the damn thing kept fighting in skeletal form, flying around and breathing fire. Eventually it "died" again and became an inanimate dragon carcass. I'm going to return to this area when it respawns and see if another "undressing" dragon shows up again! 169.237.106.192 22:01, 7 May 2014 (GMT)

I've had this bug as well once, but it didn't occur in Bonestrewn Crest, so I'm pretty sure that it's not exclusive to this location. —<({Quill-Tail>> 00:42, 8 May 2014 (GMT)

Bug removed from page[edit]

  • After accepting the miscellaneous quest Special Delivery, the game may continuously crash when there are any dragons near Bonestrewn Crest. A possible fix is to use the killall command when you're close enough.

The above was added by 46.59.164.64 on the 25th of February, 2012‎. It hasn't been confirmed in over two years, so I'm moving it here for now. — ABCface 03:17, 29 October 2014 (GMT)

Dragon flies off into the sunset[edit]

Just experienced weird behavior where after killing the dragon its hp bar disappears and it just flies off into the sunset rather than falling to the ground nearby, denying me any soul or loot. Anyone happen to know the dragon's RefID?MV4IUVmEkoFqLk7 (talk)
