Rabbit?[edit]

Is the species a typo? 82.40.247.46 20:57, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

Surprisingly, no. The Chicken race has the editor ID "Chickenrace" but is named "Rabbit". I'm not going to hazard to guess why, but the article is accurate. Maybe a note would be appropriate? --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:04, 18 May 2013 (GMT)
Likely is the same stats as rabbit, rabbit was created first and someone just copypasted it and was too lazy to change the display name, seeing as it never would appear in game. Programmers are notorious for reusing every possible thing they can :P Jeancey (talk) 21:22, 18 May 2013 (GMT)

Buying Chickens?[edit]

I have Hearthfire installed and I've built a home with an animal pen. According to this page, I can buy up to three chickens. Would anybody tell me where and how? — Unsigned comment by 24.247.52.72 (talk) at 00:08 on 1 July 2013‎

Hire a steward (followers who are eligible to become stewards are listed on that page), then speak to the steward about improvements. — ABCface 06:56, 1 July 2013 (GMT)

Chickens killed by bandits; Hearthfire[edit]

On Xbox360 my chickens at Helljarchen Hall were killed by bandits and did not respawn. Steward does not offer option to purchase more. Anyone see this before? — Unsigned comment by 207.81.124.7 (talk) at 04:28 on 26 November 2013‎

The chickens should respawn after ten days if you stay away from the property. Wrath425 (talk) 21:19, 20 April 2014 (GMT)
The ten in-game days away respawn time may be true for all the chickens in the game. In my case the only chicken in Winterhold died during the magic anomalies attack and it respawned after ten days away. Defqon1 (talk) 20:10, 28 December 2019 (GMT)

85 Sneak[edit]

Someone actually went to the trouble of manually editing the stats for EncChicken to add 70 sneak skill... Enai Siaion (talk) 17:07, 30 December 2014 (GMT)

Rabbit II: The re-rabbiting[edit]

So, the chickens are of a race that has the name of Rabbit. I get that. Still, that race is a different one from the actual rabbit race, does resemble a chicken, and does, in fact, even have an EditorID of ChickenRace. Therefore, listing them as rabbits is false, because even technically, they are of a (albeit mislabeled) race used solely for chicken, that is completely different from the race used for rabbits. -- SarthesArai Talk 21:56, 13 November 2017 (UTC)

As the peculiarity is in the code whatever we use as race listing, I believe it could either way benefit from some kind of link of footnote link or similar, with reference to the Notes section with the explanation, regardless of solution. —MortenOSlash (talk) 22:12, 13 November 2017 (UTC)
The infobox is for technical facts, and cannot be "false", as the fact is that chickens are of the "Rabbit" race, even if they aren't of the same rabbit race as rabbits. No matter that other parts of that race clearly identify it as being used for chickens, or even the knowledge that it is the coded chicken race, it is still labeled "Rabbit", and that is what must be displayed. There is already a note on the page, albeit a little short. We never sic the infobox information because it only ever displays game data and doesn't need an extra explanation of that point, however, if possible indicators (*) could be used to highlight what can be confusing. I can see that putting them in the Rabbit category isn't strictly correct, given it is a separate race with the same name, so perhaps we can use the speciescat parameter to change the cat to Chicken while leaving the displayed name alone. Chickens stopped laying[edit]

I harvested the eggs at my house (Lakeview Manor) near Falkreith quite a long time ago in game days. The chickens haven't laid any more. Is this one of those things where you have to stay away from the house for a long time? I visit it fairly frequently to drop off loot. Gataroja (makes a fine rug) (talk) 14:42, 23 July 2019 (UTC)
