Missing detail

"to the south is a dead end" You come out that dead end if you go down the waterfall that was just talked about in the preceding paragraph. There is a gap if you drop down the waterfall where you find a skeleton and a chest, then pull a rope to open a wall where that dead end is. Someone should add that in the walkthrough when they go there to get the exact details.Bamspeedy (talk) 18:07, 18 May 2017 (UTC)

Vale vs vale

This wiki's spelling page:"Any proper nouns from the game should be capitalized (e.g. Foyada Mamaea)." So it is the "Forgotten Vale." But within the article it is referred to as the Vale, and sometimes simply (and incorrectly) as the vale. I feel this short-hand version of the proper name of a game location should always be capitalized, since we are not discussing valleys in general. The term "vale sabre cats" and "vale deer" refer to creatures peculiar to this location in the same sense that "Atlas lion" refers to s sub-species located in the Atlas mountains of north Africa. The U.S. Forest service uses "mountain lion" which is correct since it is not a peculiar location, but any rugged mountainous terrain occupied by the feline. Thus, "Vale sabre cat" and "Vale deer" are actually correct, but the ruling principle here is how does the game capitalize them. From the inventory listing we have: Vale Deer Hide, and Vale Sabre Cat Hide.

The info dialog box presents it as all caps: VALE DEER HIDE and VALE SABRE CAT HIDE. While here may be contradictory evidence within the game of which I am unaware (dialog), I have edited the page to adhere to what seems to be the game's preference. Kalevala (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

Vale is the capitalized term, so Vale deer would be correct, while Vale Deer would be incorrect. I would like to point out plenty of examples of foyada being uncapitalized when used alone, so I don't think that example proves your point all that well. Luckily for you we have an example of Vale deer (with that capitalization) in prose in game. Jeancey (talk) 19:37, 5 January 2022 (UTC)

It seems we agree, "foyada" is a "fire river" and its usage is similar to that of the word "canyon". It can serve alone or as part of a specific named entity. I actually much prefer Vale deer and Vale sabre cat, and will undo my edit in that regard. Kalevala (talk) 19:56, 5 January 2022 (UTC)
