Tharstan[edit]

Is Tharstan from the Dragonborn DLC a Breton, Imperial or Nord by his name origin? Dragon Guard (talk) 10:59, 15 June 2013 (GMT)

It's impossible to assign race by name, because there are lots of people who have names that are in the style of one racial name-type, yet are of a different race. Saying that, his name is more inclined to the Imperial naming style imo, clearly not Breton, though it could be Nordic. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:31, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
Thanks for the info. Now I know he is not a Breton. Dragon Guard (talk) 13:43, 15 June 2013 (GMT)
I believe he is Nordic. Imperials have last names shown in-game and Tharstan doesn't sound Breton-ish. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 16:18, 16 August 2013 (GMT)
Unless there is clear confirmation of the race, we shouldn't discuss it as it is speculation. If you want to talk about the races of NPCs who are considered to be elders or children by the game data, please take it to the forums where such conversation is allowed. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 16:33, 16 August 2013 (GMT)
How will it be speculation? If we can work out what race the name comes from, we can work out what race the Elders of Skyrim are. Isn't that hard, now is it? Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 07:50, 22 August 2013 (GMT)
We CAN'T do that. Trying to "work it out" IS speculation, and it isn't allowed on the wiki. If you wish to engage in speculation, use the forums. Jeancey (talk) 08:34, 22 August 2013 (GMT)

() Yes we can. We know Nords have Nordic names, Imperials have Latin/Roman names, and Bretons have sorta French names. Not so hard now, eh? Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 10:41, 22 August 2013 (GMT)

Just gonna hop in here and say: "No, we can't". For example, take Sebastian(Which originated as a Greek/Latin name)or Banning (Which is a Gaelic name)There are several others from different races who's names don't match one culture alone. Thus, we can't make the assumption of race by name alone. --Skyrimplayer (talk) 12:20, 22 August 2013 (GMT)
