Damage?

Does anyone know how these guys are able to inflict so much damage? Even at a pretty late stage of the game, when I am able to shrug off most enemies, while facing these guys with my Dragonskin spell active, somehow they are able to do enormous damage and often kill me. Is it poison? Some scripted damage bonus outside the basic rules? They carry they same weapons as the ordinary forsworn, yet somehow do ridiculous damage with them; the maths doesn't seem to add up to me. - Jurosem — Unsigned comment by 80.167.163.237 (talk) at 19:07 on 2 January 2012

That is strange, mostly because Briarhearts were always relatively easy for me, even at a low level. Are you wearing good armor? That could be a problem. Blade Hero 18:48, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

They level with the player. I don't think the ordinary forsworn do so they will be a low level compared to you late in the game, unlike the Briarheart's that will be a similar level to you still. Kimi the Elf 19:13, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Good question - I've been experimenting with various level 1 characters visiting Kolskeggr Mine, and never had trouble with the Briarheart before, but have recently met with instant doom against them. Normally, I won't see him until deep into the mine, and dispatch him easily, but lately, I'll still be killing the first enemy in the cave and look up to see the BH rushing me - probably due to his hearing ability - and he floors me before I know what happened. Even though they're leveled, I suspect there's a gamewide randomness to some of these foes, which might explain the "why is skyrim so hard" topics I've seen on some of the message boards. Briarheart Transformation
