Idolaf Inexplicably Angry[edit]

early on in the main quest line, maybe because im a redguard. he tells me that he should bash my face in for what i have done. though i have no bounty at all. weird — Unsigned comment by RaW (talkcontribs) at 09:15 on 18 December 2011

He says this to me on my nord character every time I see him. I also sided with the Imperial Legion and destroyed the Stormcloaks. The only reason I can think off is its because when he asked me Battle-Born or Gray-Mane I said Gray-Mane. Its kinda annoying really ... is he important or can I just kill him? Staring contest (Adrianna/Idolaf Battleborn scene)[edit]

In one of my games, I eventually encountered Idolaf and Adrienne facing one another as if they were going to talk, but they were not talking. They would talk to me as usual. The odd thing is that that is all they would do. Every hour of every day thereafter, they were there, staring at each other, forever. I could break them up by attacking, but after everything is resolved, they go back to staring. I went out of the city and moved him to me, and he just walked back to where she was waiting and started staring again. — Unsigned comment by 98.199.78.232 (talk) at 17:00 on February 5, 2012

I have the same glitch and also the same thing happened to Ranmir and Birna. Researching here on UESP I found a workaround for Ranmir and Birna, which consisted of using the following console command: stopquest b2174, so I figured that in order to resolve the "staring contest" for Adrianne and Idolaf, I would have to use find their dialogue quest ID. I ended up finding it, the ID is 270a4, but even after using the resetquest and stopquest commands, nothing changed. Does anyone know how to solve this? It's not really a game breaking bug, but it looks weird. — Unsigned comment by 187.61.152.132 (talk) at 17:25 on 17 July 2012
The proper resolution is to look in the CK and find the "scene ID" not the quest. I don't know about the Ranmir/Birna quest, but the quest ID 270a4 if for the DialogueWhiterun quest which controls much more than that one scene. startscene 000CC7B1 should cause them to get on with their dialogue and go on with their busness, can't say whether you will run into problems down the road though. If startscene doesn't work try typing (help "scene" 1) into the console and use one of the other commands.

Your workaround for Adrienne/Idolaf, startscene 000cc7b1, worked wonderfully and Adrienne is working on her smithy again. Your kind direction to finding the 'scene ID' was a lot of help and I was able to find bunch of other scene IDs, including Birna / Ranmir arguing scene in Winterhold (000B2175) and Suvaris being bullied by Rolff & Angrenor in Windhelm (000CD91F). The only concern is, as you've put it, the unforseen longterm side effects... but I doubt there would be much trouble. Thank you again. Wontial (talk) 22:15, 27 July 2013 (GMT)

Murder[edit]

I "accendentally" murdered two of the people who live on the battle-born farm and Idolaf sent 3 men to kill me. I don't want anymore problems so i decided to go talk to him or kill him ect. but i cant find him ANYWHERE!!! its really annoyying please help. — Unsigned comment by 74.132.57.197 (talk) at 15:55 on July 10, 2012

I don't know where he went, but he will give you no more problems. It's a common event for thugs to be sent after you after killing someone. Vely►Talk►Email 20:01, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
So i killed him and i didnt even get caught or shot at or anything! hes not important so you can kill him. I just pickpocketed his sword and shot him right between the eyes with an arrow and BAM its done. — Unsigned comment by 74.132.57.197 (talk) at 21:07 on 10 July 2012

Incest?[edit]

Ummm, why is he married to a Battle-Born born female and has the last name Battle-Born? Incest, or is this some Skyrim mega feminism where he took her name? — Unsigned comment by 71.81.213.92 (talk) at 17:45 on 29 August 2013

Well, considering the Battle-Born family is renowned or something, he probably took the name either willingly, or as a condition of marrying into the family. It actually makes sense when you think about it. 108.183.114.14 17:52, 12 September 2013 (GMT)
I think there is a third answer here, Idolaf is Alfhild's step brother, otherwise he married his sister or he married into the clan. Wrath425 (talk) 02:17, 12 November 2013 (GMT)
Idolaf is the son of Olfrid, Alfhild is a Battle-Born in name through marriage to Idolaf. Yes its old, but I came to the page looking for this information. Crayolamanic (talk) 17:05, 8 February 2017 (UTC)
Im sorry to say that you're wrong. In game dialogue states that Alfhild is the daughter of Bergritte and Olfrid. So if Idolaf is their son that would indicate a heavy degree of sib-cest. --The Lost Hlaalu Heir (talk) 20:06, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
In-game dialogue also indicates Idolaf is Olfrid's son. It would explain why Lars is so weak. Vicano (talk) 20:45, 4 May 2017 (UTC)
