Aromatics shop[edit]

In my play through he was hanging out inside Aromatics shop all the time, sometimes behind the counter as if he worked there. 96.250.18.45 04:44, 12 April 2012 (UTC)

In my play through right now, I found him first in the big ship docked in the port of Solitude, with a pirate hat on. Him, his sister and a few others with a captain are on there a lot, but I see him hanging outside the Potion shop too. The local executioner just gave me a quest to kill Jaree-Ra in Broken Oar Grotto up north on the coast. Why is none of this mentioned on the page? Some of it may be a mod I must admit, like the pirate hats. But if I go kill him (thought he was essential until Lights Out! starts) I won't be able to start Jaree-Ra's quest. --71.94.53.49 08:45, 7 December 2014 (GMT)
The last part is likely not put on the page because it's not really a quest from Ahtar, but a mere "suggestion" from his dialogue. Which means most player would leave Jaree-Ra alone until they have to face him in Lights Out! and he's not in danger of getting killed before his quest. Also, according to the page; he's essential before being moved to Broken Oar Grotto, so you aren't suppose to kill him before that unless you have a mod that would permit so. Immortal?[edit]

This guy is annoying like hell! Every time I'm fighting the guards in Solitude he interferes and cannot be killed, AAAAARGH! Why on earth is he immortal? Is there some weird quest that he's part of? And to make it even worse, his level is too high for my Calm spells! --Nv4dispbluescreen 11:40, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

He is part of the Lights Out quest. It is mentioned on the article. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 11:44, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Okay, but since he always attacks me I cannot start that quest... need to go find some higher level calm spell or get the perk that makes calm spells affect higher-level npcs too... cause he's really driving me insane! I can't safely explore the town of Solitude without him getting in my way! --Nv4dispbluescreen 12:09, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
I found this solution on ElderScrolls.Wikia.com, and it just worked for me on PC: "If Jaree-Ra is hostile at the docks, fight him until he is down, but don't kill him. Then leave and return in three game days and he should no longer be hostile." The guards at the docks were hostile, so I hit them once, sheathed my weapon, and repeated until they stopped attacking. Then I attacked Jaree-Ra until he went down, immediately fast-traveled to Solitude, and waited 3 game days. When I came back, he was friendly, and I turned in the quest. Jaree-Ra attacking in Solitude[edit]

It appears that Jaree-Ra attacks you in Solitude if you have bounty in the Haafingar Hold. (Well isn't he the most law abiding ci- oh wait..) It happened to me even though as far as I knew I had no bounty and talking to guards there was no option to pay any bounty. (This bug might have something to do with the Dark Brotherhood quest where you kill the bride in the wedding. I finished that quest but I did not get bounty during it.) The solution to his constant attacking? Get bounty in Haafingar and pay it off. For me attacking the guards was unfruitful as they never did anything and I only got bounty when one died. No need to waste fine guards so I resulted in attacking a child once, getting 40 bounty, and paying it off right away. Jaree-Ra is no longer hostile towards me. --Demian (talk) 16:58, 11 April 2013 (GMT)

Quest: "Talk to Jaree-Ra"[edit]

Since I had no intention of ever doing "Lights Out!" in my current playthrough, I used the console to remove Jaree-Ra's essential status the first time I saw him. Eventually, he was killed by a vampire, which completed "Lights Out!" immediately even though I never actually started it. However, I still have "Talk to Jaree-Ra about possible employment" in my Miscellaneous quests. How do I get rid of that? Shahrazad the Listener (talk) 23:00, 10 November 2017 (UTC)

The introductory miscellaneous quest MS07Rumor is the one you have. Use setstage to stage 20 to mark it complete. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:01, 11 November 2017 (UTC)
