Meaning of delivering an axe?[edit]

What's the symbolic meaning of delivering an axe to ones enemy? They hint at it in the game but don't bother to explain it... 86.15.236.184 06:45, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Well this is more of a topic for the forums.--Skyrimplayer 10:26, 23 August 2012 (UTC)
The only thing definitive in the game is the line "If he keeps it, I will bide my time. If he returns it to you, it means war." Everything else is pretty vague. ABCface 13:39, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

About bug fix for "return to jarl"[edit]

To my knowledge, in "You can fix this with the console command player.setobjectivecompleted cwpostwhiterunobj 1 1." the line of code "player.setobjectivecompleted cwpostwhiterunobj 11." does not work, whatsoever. I've tried it every way possible, even double and triple checking my spelling, and it does not work, so it should be removed. 24.63.171.231 12:58, 2 March 2013 (GMT)

Correction, I'm unsure if it's 11 or 1 1 but one of them worked, it's Eleven, right? And also why is "setobjectivecompleted" not listed in the console commands page? I looked for it there, but it's nowhere to be found.
Correction about the previous statement, It's in there, it's just worded differently, and you have to be taken to another page in order to even find it, if after a mod or janitor see's this, would you mind checking the console commands page to either add "player.setobjectivecompleted or at least starting a conversation there in the talk page about it? I didn't even know "player.setobjectivecompleted" even existed until I stumbled onto this page due to the glitch of not being able to get rid of the "warn the jarl of whiterun" bug off my misc quests log — Unsigned comment by 24.63.171.231 (talk) at 13:11 on 2 March 2013‎

RE: About bug fix for "return to jarl"[edit]

The one who works is: player.setobjectivecompleted cwpostwhiterunobj 1 1 (be sure to put whiterun and not witherun as I did). — Unsigned comment by 190.136.199.36 (talk) at 20:09 on 19 December 2013‎

This is already noted on the page. Vely►t►e 23:09, 19 December 2013 (GMT)

Quentin Cipius bug.[edit]

I have another bug in this quest than the one stated here. I talk to the jarl, and he sends me to the legate Quentin Cipius. He gets the arrow and all, but refuse to start his dialogue, just spouts his one-liners. Thereby killing the quest. — Unsigned comment by 5.150.212.144 (talk) at 23:50 on 17 July 2014

If you have no mods, then feel free to put it on the page. If you do have mods, then disable them, start a new game, and see if it still occurs. ~ Ad intellige (talk) 03:55, 18 July 2014 (GMT)

Balgruuf's War Axe[edit]

The War Axe is no longer a quest item after it is returned to Balgruuf, and can be pickpocketed from him. On my game, however, selling the War Axe to a fence and then buying it back does not remove the Stolen tag. A glitch/bug, perhaps?

Also, seeing as this item has a unique name and is quest-related, why isn't it listed on the Quest Items page? Evil-i (talk) 05:28, 10 May 2015 (GMT)

Quite strange setup[edit]

"Balgruuf will not agree to read the message before Dragon Rising has been completed." Why? This should be considered as a bug, or there must be a mod somewhere to fix this for the sake of realism. Because there are people which do not even want to start main quest line and do not want dragon appearing. Why even Bethesda put this stupid limit? Now i am lost, unable to continue Legion quest line, great... --162.216.46.37 23:09, 21 January 2017 (UTC)

Why would any game developer not add certain restrictions around side-quests in order to prompt you into completing the main quest, the very thing they made the game for and want you to experience. Bethesda happen to be very good at recognising that people don't always do the main quest in large rpg's and have some of the least restrictive main quests around. Also consider that Unbound is the first main quest, so the only way to play the game is to start the main quest.
On the more technical side, three of the first four main quests are essentially the tutorial into the whole game. Unbound covers all the basic stuff, moving, equipping, fighting. Before the Storm is hardly a quest but still covers the benefits of making friends, then Bleak Falls Barrow covers advanced fighting and dungeon crawling. Finally Dragon Rising covers dragons and shouting (unlocking and using), the thing that's meant to give you the edge over otherwise equal opponents. Then you are free to do what you want. Dragons are meant to be a part of the game, the ultimate bosses that take time and effort to kill, non-participation of Dragon Rising is considered to deliberately abstaining from a large chunk of the game, as well as locking yourself out of the Dragonborn DLC's main quest.
Finally, if you wish to limit dragons, you need only to advance to A Blade in the Dark to limit their appearance to the word walls. As long as you don't complete that quest dragons will be very limited. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:16, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Also, if you haven't done Dragon Rising, Ulfric's dialogue at the end won't make sense. Echo (talk) 01:14, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
Consider this as roleplay, some people do want to play a normal character that does not interfere with global events like Dragons Rising, etc... I was surpised because in TES 4 you could easily play without opening Gates all around, mass deaths and so on, I was happy with this... Of course I did Skyrim main quest may be 10 times already, at least 10, since 2011, now I want to make other ways in the game, and looks like developers really changed this part.--162.216.46.139 06:38, 22 January 2017 (UTC)
