Nord?[edit]

Is he really nord? In his Gentleman's Guide he clearly states that "Arcadia herself is an amiable sort. I often visit her to make conversation, as she is a fellow Imperial far from home.", ". I have had some merry adventures within the stone walls of Dragonsreach, let me tell you. The serving girls are most easily impressed by a well-spoken Imperial. After all, the nights in Skyrim do grow quite cold, if you take my meaning." and " I find that they lack any sense of humor or appreciation for the Imperial culture." So he talks about himself as an Imperial. Would Nord use phrases like "These Nords are simple folk, after all, and too easily swayed by the sight of fine clothes and a purse full of septims."? --Silesianus (talk) 15:30, 28 September 2012 (GMT)

According to the CSlist, he is a Nord. The instances in the book are probably just oversights.--Skyrimplayer (talk) 15:34, 28 September 2012 (GMT)

Carlotta[edit]

He refers to Carlotta as a nord saying he didn't want anyone to think he couldn't handle one nord lass. — Unsigned comment by 82.73.72.148 (talk) at 15:18 on 25 January 2013

Thanks for the info. I've updated the article with a note about this, though it will be incorporated into the main description once the article is fleshed out more with all dialogue. — ABCface 17:56, 25 January 2013 (GMT)

Brawl glitch[edit]

I was doing the quest for Carlotta, and decided to brawl with Mikael. However, he pulled out a dagger during the brawl, and when I depleted his health, instead of going into a kneel, I killed him. Has this happened to anyone else, and does this happen with other people you can brawl with? --71.194.114.223 23:05, 25 January 2013 (GMT)

I'm just going to put it out there in case this is a simple misunderstanding: are you positive that you didn't use magic or have a weapon out before beginning the brawl? Because both would cause Mikael (or any other brawl-opponent) to become hostile and for them to die without kneeling to recover first. --Vulpa 23:16, 25 January 2013 (GMT)
I'm sure, and when he pulled his dagger out, nobody else went hostile and I didn't use magic or a weapon. --67.173.49.144 18:32, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
Hm. I'm not one to ask about technical things like bugs, so I'll just add this one question for you instead: Did he pull out the dagger during the fight, like after he was mostly dead, or immediately, as soon as the brawl began? If it was during, it could be a result of hitting him too many times once he was "defeated" (has lost 'so much' of his health). --Vulpa 01:47, 3 February 2013 (GMT)
This happens with me as well. I can't help carlotta because when I choose brawl, he pulls out a knife after the first 2-4 punches, nobody else interferes, and when he says he submits, he is lying he just gets back up again and immediately has the knife. He will follow you with the knife until you kill him or load an older save. I finally had to go back to a save before I talked to Carlotta as I don't want yet another broken quest. I tried this 4 times and give up. He always doesn't want to leave her alone without brawling, and the brawling with him is broken as he wants a knife fight to the death each time. Oh and if I kill him Carlotta has no dialogue to complete this quest.
It's the infamous brawl bug that's plaguing your game. I'd suggest downloading a brawl bug fix if you're on PC. If you're using a console, then I'm afraid there's no solution for you. Usually this only happens when you mod your game anyway, so you're hopefully able to solve this. ~Drew 21/07-14

Minor bug[edit]

I had an occasion in which I just had completed "A Few Words with You" through intimidating Mikael and passing the check and had gone to Carlotta to turn it in. Just after this I went to Jorrvaskr and picked up the job "Hired Muscle" from Farkas, in which I had to brawl with Mikael. After defeating him I got dialogue option about not bothering with Carlotta any more, despite having completed the quest. Thought I'd report that, in case there have been similar incidents. ~Drew 21/07-14

Ysolda[edit]

While I can't comment on the marriage aspect, it would appear Ysolda does have a soft spot for Mikael. I found this after I killed Mikael to progress Deceiving the Herd. As a result of the kill, Ysolda's disposition toward me changed from 1 (friend) to -2 (foe). She was the only character to demonstrate this change.

I don't know if this in any way fulfills the requested verification, but hopefully this at least gets things moving in that general direction. Naqethteros (talk) 18:41, 5 September 2019 (UTC)

Mikael and Ysolda have a high disposition (2—confidant) towards each other, and Mikael is marked as being Ysolda's boyfriend in the game data. According to The Bonds of Matrimony, the wedding guests are people who have a high disposition towards you or your spouse. In other words, he's only coming to your wedding because he likes Ysolda (unless you raised his disposition another way), and the quest with Carlotta has no impact. As for the verification, the whole second part of that sentence can probably be removed since we can't list every time an NPC has a high disposition with a potential spouse. His relationship with Ysolda (and Hulda) should probably be noted, though. --O-a11y Talk 23:46, 14 September 2020 (UTC)
