Staff[edit]

Should the staff he uses be added to this page? — Unsigned comment by 69.180.179.175 (talk) at 22:23 on 4 January 2012

I was looking for information on his staff as well, particularly since it seems very hard (or impossible) to obtain. I cannot redo the quest, obviously, and returning to Skuldafn Temple with the console, the staff does remain, but is only labeled as the activator for Sovngarde. Yeah, it was a pretty bitchin' staff. Too bad you can't keep it. --Julia 06:33, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
I have found a way to keep the Dragon Priest Staff. I use my bow and arrows, creep to the top of the stairs, and shoot Nahkriin. I have very high archery skill so it drops him to near zero health. I then sprint to where he is. I switch to using swords because they are quicker than drawing an arrow, and wait for the moment he picks up the staff. I then kill him, loot him of his staff/mask and anything else. After looting the staff, if you do it correctly, you will have just enough time to jump off into the portal before it closes. It did honestly take me about 8 times before I got it right, but it works! Slow Time might come in handy, but I didn't use it. Try it, I love having every item I possibly can! Confirmed, I just grabbed his staff myself. My character was able to one-shot him (invis + backstab + he starts at half health). Quicksave before you start. Dart up to him with invisibility, he starts up the stairs as soon as you're close. Duck to sneak, wait for him to pick up the staff. The moment he does, nail him, loot him (just hit the hotkey to loot everything at once), then jump in the portal before it closes. If you fail, load the quicksave and try again. It's really NOT hard to do, he's actually the second weakest of all the dragon priests - the weakest being Morokei, whose use of the staff of magnus to drain your magicka means he's a total pushover if you just pull out a weapon and beat him to death.174.28.255.94 23:45, 30 August 2019 (UTC)

Template Edit Needed[edit]

In the dialogue he says "nall" instead of "naal" which is probably what it was supposed to be. Regardless, this peculiar spelling should be marked by "sic" but I do not know how to add a template within a template (the hover template already being in use) so if anyone could fix this it would be great. Okay, I added the Sic template within. Template-ception :) ~ Psylocke 19:55, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks :) Coronus 21:31, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Also he says 'miiraak' (allegiance guide) when it should perhaps be 'miraad' (doorway). The term 'miiraak' for 'portal' is nowhere else found, as far as I can see. Nsa1001 (talk) 15:39, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
That was a misleading note, as he never mentions Miraak, he says miiraak, which does mean portal as derived from the game data. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:27, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
Ah right you are. I did a bit more digging. The game data does indeed specify that 'miiraak' means 'portal'. As far as I can make out the only uses of it in the game are here (at Skuldafn) and in an unused bit of dialogue. Can't argue with the game data. It would be out of the scope of this wiki to point out that the likelihood of such an ancient (and profoundly limited) language having two separate words for 'doorway' and 'portal' (which from a dragon point of view might be pretty much the same thing) is low. But as you say, that's exactly what the game data insists on. Nsa1001 (talk) 16:27, 28 January 2019 (UTC)

Health Bug[edit]

"Nahkriin will only have half of his health when you face him, making the fight considerably easier than the other Dragon Priests." This was added to the page as a bug. I can't recall ever encountering this so I'm bringing it here to see if anyone else can verify it. •WoahBro►talk 17:35, 14 April 2014 (GMT)

Need it verified? Okay... okay... There: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/615803-the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim/61445283/684224667 5th post by acd0. DGAny Questions? 20:07, 14 April 2014 (GMT)
I do not think that boastfull discussion qualifies very much as a verification. For all we know, it was just added by the anonymous user after having read the discussion on GameFAQs. If, however, anyone of the users of UESP have personally experienced it too, they are free to add it again. —MortenOSlash (talk) 14:23, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, we must be sure. Like Joe Barbaro from Mafia II says: "Can't be sure unless we check." DGAny Questions? 15:28, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
Sorry. I was the one who added it. I just didn't want to bother making an account. No I'm not the person in that gamefaqs page. Anyway, it has indeed happened to me. I first noticed the bug in the PS3 version, and thought the game file was glitched. But I had the same problem with every other save file. After that, I thought it was just a problem with the disc. But now that I have it for the XBox 360, I'm sure that it's a common bug, because I'm still having this problem. Nahkriin always has only half of his health whenever I fight him. ChaoticQueen (talk) 17:36, 15 April 2014‎ (GMT)
I can confirm. I'm on xbox and in each of my 8 playthroughs (separate characters) he has about 1/3 of his health bar depleted when I get to him. No idea how. --Jimeee (talk) 18:08, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
I added information about it under Notes. I really like the scientific way the UESP wiki works, though a slow method, the demand for test and re-test makes the site so much more reliable.
Btw ChaoticQueen (tweaking your signature a bit), you should add your signature by typing four tildes (~~~~) at the end of your message, giving a signature with timestamp in GMT like this: —MortenOSlash (talk) 19:41, 15 April 2014 (GMT)
The health reduction is not a bug, it is scripted, but the script contains an error. (Well, I think that it is an error.) When the player arrives at Skuldafn at stage 100 of the quest MQ303, a script is called to "damage the boss to make a fairer fight". This adjusment is based on the player's level: the health of Nahkriin is halved if the player's level is lower than 10, the health is reduced by 0%-50% if the player's level is between 10 and 20, and there is no adjusment if the player's level is higher than 20. However, there is an error in the script where the player's level is determined. As a result, the adjusment is always made with playerLevel=0, and the health of the priest is always halved, independently of the player's actual level.
