Bug with Narfi's quest + Dark Brotherhood quest[edit]

Narfi will not accept the necklace for his quest if the Dark Brotherhood quest involving him has been started. 210.86.1.151 13:56, 12 November 2011 (UTC)

Finding the remains before speaking to Narfi or Wilhelm will break the quest and cause it to be unfinishable. The waypoint will stay on Reyda's bag even when you have the necklace, and there is no way to deliver it to Narfi. — Unsigned comment by 184.171.33.62 (talk) at 05:06 on 18 November 2011 (UTC)
(PC) if you give Narfi his sisters necklace and follow up by telling him the truth then when you exit the conversation with him, the game will crash — Unsigned comment by 86.182.160.193 (talk) at 02:02 on 27 November 2011 (UTC)
I mentioned Narfi being bugged and put a pretty predictable one on the page. If greater accuracy is needed someone needs to go through his scripts and find the errant walruses. Sniffles (talk) 10:58, 18 October 2012 (GMT)

Wilhelm freaking out[edit]

When I showed Reyda's necklace to Wilhelm, he said Narfi's line ("Reyda! Did you see Reyda? Did you tell her Narfi cries every night and never said goodbye like with mother and father?"). It wasn't Narfi's voice file mistakenly assigned to Wilhelm either, it was recorded in his own voice, with the same urgence and anguish as Narfi's. He'll go back to his normal conversation after that ("Stay away from the barrow"). I later delivered the necklace to Narfi, who accepted it and the quest finished normally. This is probably caused by the fact that both Narfi and Wilhelm have the "(Show him the necklace)" dialogue option, but seems the VA director didn't notice a new line should be created for Wilhelm (something like "Narfi will want to see this!"). Reference to Norse Mythology?[edit]

In Norse mythology, Loki's son is sometimes refered to as Narfi, and there is also a different god called Narfi who is the father of Nott, the personified night. Just wondered if either reference should be included in the article. Mjolnir (talk) 15:12, 14 October 2012 (GMT)

References only go on the Easter Eggs page. As it is, there's no connection other than the name. Yeah, Bethesda took a lot of names from Norse mythology, but if there's no other connection, it's too weak to mention. There was a discussion here about considering the names easter eggs without having a strong connection. Vely►t►e 17:03, 14 October 2012 (GMT)

Really?[edit]

I wouldn't call him 'insane' just..... stupid? — Unsigned comment by 76.64.247.90 (talk) at 15:46 on 2 January 2021 (UTC)

The current wording of the article seems fine to me. His dialogue is clearly meant to show that he's insane, and the notes in the game data describe the dialogue as "babbling to self, crazy talk". --Oriwa Talk 20:11, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
I removed it for now based on a couple of different things. First, as the OP points out, it seems that he's intellectually challenged, but not necessarily insane per se. More importantly, however, I don't think we have the grounds to say that he's now insane. Wilhelm says that his sister's disappearance put Narfi in a state, but that state is most likely worry/grief. Grief can do a great many things, even causing a psychotic break, but it's not likely to change your intellectual capacity beyond that, so it's likely Narfi was always intellectually challenged. This is supported by Wilhelm's handling of Narfi, since he's more worried about calming Narfi down by telling him his sister's coming back, than by the fact that an otherwise functioning person has suddenly gone completely over the edge. In the end, though, even this is just my read on it...we can't really comment with any certainty, so I removed the "now insane" part as speculation. Robin Hood(talk) 22:16, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo[edit]

can someone figure out who put a contract on poor narfi?--76.64.247.90 15:48, 2 January 2021 (UTC)

There's nothing in-game that indicates anyone in particular, and any speculation on who might have placed the contract would be better suited for the forums. --Oriwa Talk 20:11, 2 January 2021 (UTC)
