Fixed?[edit]

Was the not stolen status of Song of the Alchemists in the Bard's College a bug? Because as of Patch 1.1 its marked as stolen. I tried before and after becoming a member of the college. It was marked stolen either way. Did they turn a non-bug into a bug? Or are you supposed to turn in stolen books? — Unsigned comment by 75.80.97.155 (talk) at 10:44 on 14 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't know. I just ran through it and had the comment when I took the book, reloaded from the Bards Collage entry, and did it the way I described. Oddly enough, much later, Illdi from the Bards Collage put a thug contract out on me. They hit me as I was coming out of Mzulft and many game days later. I'm assuming that taking the book, which you have to do for the quest, is indeed stealing. The stolen flag issue never came up when I turned it over for the quest. I do not have any updates other than the 11/11/11 update - Platform is PS3. — Unsigned comment by Philbert (talkcontribs) at 10:57 on 14 December 2011 (UTC)

Note[edit]

"Halted Stream Camp is the location of a bounty quest, possible location of a Dungeon Delving quest from Amren, and possible location of the Amulet of the Moon quest, making it easy to complete multiple quests at once if you choose to find your Mammoth Tusk there." Should this note be kept on this page? All of this information is on the Halted Stream Camp page under related quests, and the page has a note on it being a convenient place for Rare Gifts. --Velyanthe 16:34, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

Reward from Siddgeir[edit]

Just to document this oddity. The dialogue script (TIF__00090DEE) for him seems to indicate that the reward is a piece of armor. But looking at the properties, FavorRewardArmor is actually defined as FavorRewardPotion (00049303). Ingame testing did give me potions (2/2). --Alfwyn 15:22, 22 February 2012 (UTC)

Can have more than one active[edit]

I removed "*Only one radiant quest of this type can be assigned at any given time. You must clear the radiant quest from your miscellaneous quests in order to be eligible to receive another of the same type." from the page because in my experience, this is not true for this particular Radiant quest. My current character has both Find The Mirror and Find Night Falls on Sentinel active at the same time. A previous character had Find a Mammoth Tusk and Find Song of the Alchemists active at once. It seems less likely that this is a bug when it keeps happening, but anyone with further information is welcome to add it. GrogGrogGrog 17:34, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

Another data point: I wanted to get the favor quest from Ysolda so I could marry her, but she wouldn't give me the quest dialog. I tried waiting, talking to her in different places, doing a few quests and coming back, but nothing worked. After checking here I realized that I already had Torbjorn's favor quest active. After completing that, I talked to Ysolda again and was able to start her quest. --Merey 02:35, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
I am going to re-add this note, but with a 'verification needed' tag added. Grog, while you may not have experienced this personally, other players have. Rather than remove the information entirely, we should use this discussion to determine why there is a discrepancy between different players. I play a completely un-patched version of the game, and on multiple characters this note has held true for me in gameplay. So it may be possible it's something to do with a patch update. If it is something which has been affected by a patch, the note should remain with that additional information. But it might not have anything to do with that, and there may be some other variable at play. Anyone else have input on this? It may be appropriate to move the note to the Bugs section later depending on what we find. ABCface 03:29, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
I wasn't able to get Siddgeir's quest until I closed Lami's. 66.93.220.21 03:34, 31 March 2012 (UTC)
I wasn't able to get Siddgeir's quest until I completed Torbjorn's. Took me months to work out they were the same radiant quest. — Unsigned comment by 89.243.14.97 (talk) at 11:37 on 8 April 2012

() Okay, what I'm seeing from the discussion here is that Grog (OP) seems to be the only one who can have more the one of these active at the same time so far. I'm really curious as to why this is occurring for him/her and not others. I'd also like to see if anyone else has the same experience as Grog. If anyone else responds with their experience, can you specify your platform, patch update, or any other variable which you think may come into play? It'd be nice to know what affects this. The Mirror won't remove from inventory[edit]

I stole The Mirror from The Palace of Kings for Captain Aldis, and then went into Forsaken Cave for The White Phial quest and found a legitimate copy. When I returned to Captain Aldis he removes the legitimate copy only and the stolen copy remains a quest item and will not remove. I've tried getting caught by the guards for some minor theft crime and the stolen book removed, but it remains? I was unaware this was a bug until I tried to store the item. Does anyone know how I rid myself of this MASSIVE weight on my PC? --72.91.149.47 16:44, 18 May 2013 (GMT)Archmage Darium

Console commands should work, since you're on PC. You can either use "player.drop 1AFDE 1" to drop it on the ground, or "player.removeitem 1AFDE 1" (remember not to use the quotation marks) to remove it altogether. The second command may not work because the book is a quest item, but the first should. The drop command is occasionally useful as a workaround for other problems caused by picking up quest items early. Quillan (talk) 18:01, 18 May 2013 (GMT)
Sadly I own it on my Xbox360. Luckily it's just a book. Thanks, though.--72.91.149.47 17:02, 19 May 2013 (GMT)Archmage Darium
Had the same problem with Night Falls on Sentinal. I was couldn't drop it or store it, but I was able to sell it back to Rustleif (the Rare Gifts quest giver) and when I bought it back I was able to store it. BuckWild4747 (talk) 10:08, 30 October 2013 (GMT)BuckWild4747

Note moved from page[edit]

There was an addition to the page reading "Do the quest for Siddgeir first, because a bug may happen if you do not". Exactly what kind of bug? As stated the note doesn't seem that helpful to me, I don't remember any such bug in my last playthrough. --Alfwyn (talk) 19:01, 29 November 2013 (GMT)

I just hit level nine, which is the level at which you get the letter from him, and automatically failed the Rare Gifts quests for him. Perhaps that is the bug? --Jahkayhla (talk) 02:58, 5 December 2013 (GMT)

Ysolda – Additional reward[edit]

A few days after giving Ysolda the tusk and receiving the reward of 1 point in Speechcraft I entered her little home, only to be greeted by her with a comment that it'd be good that we're friends now and in addition been given a Merchant's Hat by her. (To say the truth I broke in at night, sneaking, and nevertheless she woke up for that greeting and then laid down to sleep again.)
Should this be mentioned under rewards? Are there other quest givers with more than one reward? Or has it to do with other things between Ysolda and me (there was no additional action between us both, only the dialogue about Khajiit)? -- CompleCCity (talk) 18:53, 3 March 2014 (GMT)

And this was on PC with no mods and unofficial patches? —MortenOSlash (talk) 21:48, 3 March 2014 (GMT)
There is no "Merchant's Hat"" in the original game. There's a "Hat" with editor ID ClothesMerchantHat however, that is renamed by several mods. There's however Gift from a Friend, a random chance that someone friendly to you may give you a gift - I think this is a case of it and not special to Ysolda. --Alfwyn (talk) 22:01, 3 March 2014 (GMT)
I believe the renaming comes by either Weapons & Armor or Clothing & Clutter Fixes. USKP also is installed. I didn't check that, but – why should those mods change Ysolda's behaviour in this? Okay, I'll try to test without Mods, only have to find a savegame working for it … -- CompleCCity (talk) 09:16, 4 March 2014 (GMT)
Oh, I don't think that those mods change Ysolda's behaviour. I just think it's random and not specific to Ysolda. That is, it might happen with any NPC you did a quest for. And it won't happen with Ysolda for every player. --Alfwyn (talk) 13:27, 4 March 2014 (GMT)

Siddgeir quest[edit]

I have one Black-Briar Mead and am level two. I went to Siddgeir in order to initiate the quest to kill the bandit leader and buy Lakeview Manor, but he doesn't have the dialogue option available to start the quest. It's the first 2 hours of my playthrough, I haven't started Dark Brotherhood to kill Helvard or anything like that, and I don't have another rare gift quest active. Do I need to be a certain level? --86.121.125.26 05:13, 27 December 2020 (UTC)

It should be available from level 1. It appears in the dialogue like it's a standard "looking for work" quest, but when you ask him that, he'll tell you he wants you to pay tribute by bringing him Black-Briar Mead instead. I don't know for sure, but it's also possible he might only offer the dialogue at certain points in the day, so try waiting until daylight hours, if it's not already day time. If that still doesn't work, let me know and I'll dig into it further. Robin Hood(talk) 07:52, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
If you have another kill the bandit leader bounty quest active, that could be preventing you from obtaining Siddgeir's version of the quest. Completing the other bounty quest should make Siddgeir's quest available. --Oriwa Talk 21:16, 27 December 2020 (UTC)
