Effect[edit]

I'm pretty sure the information on this page is wrong. But I don't want to edit it unless someone can confirm. Ravage Health (Stamina/Magicka) works like Drain Health (Stamina/Magicka) in Oblivion, after the effect wears off the attribute will automatically revert to its original state. No need for altars or cure poison to do that. Secondly ravage health has a duration (which is most likely why the author of the page was confused since it's not specified in the effect's description, so he thought it is an instant, permanent effect). Usually it's 10 seconds on most (or all, only checked a few) ingredients.

If someone can confirm this (although I'm 99% sure I'm right) all the descriptions for the ravage effects need to be adjusted. — Unsigned comment by Phitt (talkcontribs) at 11:29 on 12 February 2012

Coming at this a little late, I think that's how the page reads at this point. Do you see any further changes that need to be made? Robin Hoodtalk 03:48, 5 March 2012 (UTC)
Thought I'd post this for anyone reading. I was wondering the same thing myself recently so I set up an experiment ingame to determine whether the effect wears off and came to the conclusion that the effect does not wear off after ten seconds:
1. Modified Briar Heart in the CS to have both Ravage Health and Paralysis so that a poison applying both effects could be made.
2. Using an iron dagger, I applied the poison to a bear which I spawned inside the testing room.
3. The paralysis lasted 19 seconds, during which time the bear did not recover any health.
4. Using Healing Hands on the bear after the poison wore off did not fully heal the bear, suggesting that the ravage effect was still active.
The ten second duration likely only applies to the player to prevent permanent stat damage. I know I'm replying to a year-old comment but I can't imagine we're the only ones who have come to this page wondering the same thing so hopefully it helps someone else. --Mono Giganto (talk) 23:18, 2 February 2013 (GMT)
I've tested a few of the ravage effects by putting them in potions (usually with a fortify effect that stops it from being a poison) and it is damage over time - ravage stamina 20 points ends up doing about 100 points of stamina damage - same again for damage health. It's like an in-between of lingering damage and instant damage, as far as I can tell. -- Josh — Unsigned comment by 95.145.56.106 (talk) at 15:44 on 10 February 2013
Based on the information in the CS, the effect should do X damage per second for Y seconds, but then after Y seconds your health should rebound to normal. Can anybody confirm in-game? -- Lofgren — Unsigned comment by 76.23.132.246 (talk) at 05:43 on 28 September 2013
These are my understandings based on crude, in-game testing (v1.9.32.0.8 with USKP v1.3.3c):
  • Ravage Health instantly but temporarily lowers the target's current health by the listed amount for 10 seconds (as opposed to causing damage per second), regardless of whether the target is the Player or an NPC.
  • Ravage Health temporarily lowers maximum health by the same amount and duration., at least for the Player. Dunno about NPCs. (Update: max health is also lowered on NPCs.)
  • Unlike Damage Health and Lingering Damage Health, Ravage Health does not scale down with higher difficulty levels. Player-inflicted Ravage Health on Legendary is effectively 4 times more powerful than you'd expect it to be.
  • Multiple Ravage Health applications (even from the same weapon/poison) appear to always stack as independent Effects, each with their own 10-second duration.

Ravage should also bypass poison resistance. -- Lofgren 76.23.132.246 05:56, 2 October 2013 (GMT)
Tested on PC with console: Ravage Health does not bypass poison resistance (PoisonResist). 184.17.85.158 13:15, 15 October 2013 (GMT)

() Playing on XBox, Ravage Health appears to cause a lingering damage effect that doesn't lift the way Drain Health does in Oblivion. It seems really quite deadly in fact, much more so than Damage Health, this could be because of the difficulty level modifier though because I play on Legendary. --Morrolan (talk) 13:52, 2 October 2013 (GMT)
