Can't find Rayya[edit]

So, I finally was able to purchase Lakeview Manor from Nenya, but Rayya was never appointed Housecarl to me by the Jarl. She never appeared in the Jarl's Longhouse, and I can't find her wandering around Lakeview Manor either. Anyone else missing Rayya?

It's been a while now, and I decided to appoint someone else to be my steward, but I'd still like to know where in the world Rayya went. — KunvuloninKünvülänin 06:20, 13 September 2012 (GMT)

Okay so in response to the OP you need to be Thane of Falkreath to get Rayya, just being able to purchase land doesn't mean you're Thane. That requires one additional quest from the Jarl which you can receive by talking to him. Lord Eydvar Talk | Contribs 19:08, 23 September 2012 (GMT)
No Rayya for me either. I'm Thane of Falkreath and Sidgeir has no more quests for me. I got hearthfire, Sidgeir had me kill some bandits, I bought land, he asked me for tribute and I gave him a bottle of Blackbriar mead. I built my house, appointed a steward, and Rayya is nowhere to be found. Now, I don't recall if I had been made Thane of Falkreath before or after doing all of this. I believe I had been made thane a long time ago (like 150 hours of play time ago) because I wasn't given the blade of Falkreath recently. I believe I got it all those hours ago and sold it.--RumblePen (talk) 01:33, 9 October 2012 (GMT)
It's a bug. To get Rayya show up just type prid 03005216 (or whatever is your load order) and enable inside the Jarl's house. — Unsigned comment by 84.248.190.86 (talk) at 07:37 on 9 October 2012
I'm on xbox 360 so I guess I just have to live without her--RumblePen (talk) 13:12, 9 October 2012 (GMT)

Bug with Scimitars[edit]

Okay can anyone else confirm that Rayya's Scimitars are bugged? When I remove them from her it completely unequips them after removing one of them. Seems the 2nd one isn't actually there. Can anyone else confirm this? Lord Eydvar Talk | Contribs 19:10, 23 September 2012 (GMT)

For me, her scimitars within the inventory interface are shown twice on the list instead of once, yet they still stack on each other to create the parenthetical stack count... so yeah, they're bugged one way or another. Skysword (talk) 13:02, 29 September 2012 (GMT)
Same issue as Skysword here. Not sure if you meant the same thing or something slightly different, Eydvar, the way it reads I can't tell. It's worth adding to the article in any case, as it's a bug which occurs for multiple players. — ABCface 14:09, 29 September 2012 (GMT)
What I was trying to say ABC is Rayya actually only has ONE Scimitar, the 2nd one in her inventory is a phantom item. Shows up but isn't actually there, can't be equipped, used or sold... To do anything with the Scimitars she has you have to have her have 2, if you try to equip them it'll equip both of them to the same hand and if you only have 1 its unusable. Lord Eydvar Talk | Contribs 07:04, 9 October 2012 (GMT)
Okay, in that case it is definitely a separate bug than Skysword and I have, so it should be added to the article separately. — ABCface 14:26, 9 October 2012 (GMT)
So I throughout my travels in Skyrim(and beyond) I've noticed that sometimes tempering a weapon or armor will change the "item" itself (such as when mannequin duping a Helm of Winterhold then returning to do the (bugged repeat) quest, the game allows two; 1 tempered one regular, though normally when repeating the original Helm is removed from wherever it is.), however Rayya's Scimitar is not one of these items. She has to have two equipped to even use one, and they both go in the right hand. I personally believe this was probably meant to be a dual-wield scenario but someone screwed the pooch and put both the weapons in the right hand. I'm doing some experimenting right now to see about her dual wielding other weapons or one legendary and one regular scimitar.RandyPeterson (talk) 07:24, 13 February 2013 (GMT)
The experiments went like this: Equipping one (Legendary) Scimitar did nothing, she used a bow. Equipping 2 (Legendary) Scimitars, she used one in the right hand. Equipping 4 seperate Scimitars: 2 reg, 2 (Legendary) she used one (Legendary) in the right hand. Equipping 2 steel swords, she used one in the right hand.
My theory: At one time she was supposed to use two Scimitars, however this became bugged. The first Scimitar was supposed to go in her left hand (probably to make sure she only dual-wielded Scimitars) and all other weapons were supposed to go into her right. After the bug she HAS to have two Scimitars to even notice one (left(bugged) hand filled to denote dual-wield, and right hand (actually equip-able) filled with her only dual-wield option). However any other weapon she notes is not a scimitar, and only uses one of, thusly putting it in her default right hand.RandyPeterson (talk) 07:24, 13 February 2013 (GMT)
I think I might have a fix for PC users. Well, at least it worked for me. What I did was to remove all her bows(apparently she had 3 Hunting Bows(10e2dd) that are not removable via normal trading means). When I gave her both scimitars, she'll equip only one in her right hand as per usual, but when I gave her a command to attack someone or when there's actual enemies around, she became smarter and decided to equip her other scimitar in her left hand. Which works out anyway since she's kind of buggy when she uses her bow and almost never uses her scimitars, which are kind of a waste coming from a Redguard. — Unsigned comment by 220.255.2.167 (talk) on 25 March, 2013

Primary Skills[edit]

I was just "awarded" Rayya. I didn't see her skills mentioned on her page, and she isn't on the Google spreadsheet that lists all of the followers' skills. So I queried all of her skills and found that her primary skills are these:

  • Heavy Armor
  • One-Handed
  • Archery
  • Block

She has moderate skill in two-handed. I'm level 46 and her numbers for skills over 20 are: Heavy Armor 100, One-Handed 100, Archery 92, Block 92, and Two-Handed 54. Someone else can go ahead and put any of this into her article if appropriate; I'm not much of an editor. Ignotus (talk) 05:17, 7 October 2012 (GMT)

Bugs? - Leaving home, no marriage option[edit]

Discussion moved from User:Eshe

Rayya leaves and walks around and away from the Lakeview Manner. How can i stop her from doing that? Plus, i want to make her my wife but the option to live at Lake view does not display for her... why is that? 69.243.17.118 03:10, 20 October 2012 (GMT)

Kind of a two-part question question, here are my thoughts:
  • All Housecarls leave and walk around; I've notice more so at night (8pm -1amish), or during a bandit attack. The Steward walks around more during the day(late start at about 10am on through 8pm.)
  • I would think, and this is solely hypothesis, that you cannot invite her to live at Lakeview because it is already her 'home'. -RandyPeterson (talk) 06:51, 13 February 2013 (GMT)

Not Equipping Armor (Bug?)[edit]

Simple enough, I crafted and upgraded a nice set of glass armor, and Rayya only put on the helm because the Redguard Hood is clothing. There's no way her steel armor has a better rating than legendary glass. I can force equip the armor with the console, but the instant I give her a new item, she puts the cheap steel armor back on. What gives? — Unsigned comment by 99.6.26.115 (talk) at 15:46 on 2 November 2012‎

I think it's working as intended. Followers look at the base value of armor, not the enchanted or smithed values. (They only use smithed or enchanted values to differentiate among otherwise equivalent armors.). They do however seem to take into account how their skill in heavy or light armor modifies the armor value. Since glass is better than a hood (0) she uses the glass helmet. However since her skill with heavy excedes her skill with light, the base steel armor gives her a better armor rating than base glass armor does. Or so I understand. Statmonster (talk) 05:42, 31 January 2013 (GMT)
I just put some Legendary Forsworn armor (all 4 pieces) on Rayya and she equipped them immediately. Forsworn armor is considered Light Armor, unless there is some bug I don't know about yet. Plus she looks really good in it (most female characters do). "four tildes" Redvideo (talk) 16:51, 13 March 2013 (GMT)
Definitely has to do with armor rating. Just to be sure, I tested it out with the Old Gods and the Blades armor. Both are upgraded to Legendary status. For the former, she equipped everything except for the body armor, while in the case of the Blades she equipped everything. — Unsigned comment by 220.255.2.154 (talk) at 08:06 on 25 March 2013

Wouldn't take my stuff[edit]

I don't remember where, but I remember this happening. I broke into a place and had to kill a whole bunch of guys. I found a bunch of good stuff so I tried to give it to Reyya and all she would say to me was "We shouldn't be here." So I had to drop my extra stuff. Sparks of Light (talk) 14:20, 29 July 2013 (GMT)Sparks of Light

This is standard follower behavior when you are trespassing. If you exit the area (go outside), then ask again, she should take your stuff as normal. — ABCface 19:56, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Won't stay at Sky Haven Temple[edit]

Anyone else have a problem with her continually returning to Lakeview Manor after inducting her into the Blades? She's in her spiffy Blades armor but literally ran back to the manor as soon as I fast-traveled to kill a dragon with the group. --Cybersquirt (talk) 06:07, 31 July 2015 (UTC)

Her perks[edit]

What is her perks with weapons and armor? I think this should be added to page for players to better chose what type of weapon(s) (sword/axe/mace) give to her and should they try to put set of armors or just mix them Ciberzombie (talk) 03:51, 12 January 2017 (UTC)

She wont stop asking me to be steward[edit]

I've encountered a strange bug every time i go to lakeview manor she approaches me to ask for a steward position but what makes it a bug, is that i already made another follower a steward. and I don't ever make my housecarls my steward — Unsigned comment by PrinceRetro (talkcontribs) at 17:21 on 8 November 2018 (UTC)
