Super big glitch

If you start this quest after you can go to the underforge to begin the second to last mission, the quest locks up and the waypoint dissappears and nothing can be done to keep doing side quests, what the ID of the fragment to see if adding helps at all? TakaRai 01:24, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

Adding the fragments via console doesnt fix, completeing the quest or using stages doesnt work either. 68.250.129.117 01:38, 23 November 2011 (UTC)

OK so Ive discovered that by fast traveling to riften and back I can talk to her about getting another job, just set the quest old quest to complete via console and after doing the other quest start the totem of hircine quest so in short fast travel= bug fix. — Unsigned comment by TakaRai (talk • contribs) at 02:09 on 23 November 2011

These fixes did not work for me, nor did the quest completion console command. I got this quest moments before "Glory for the Dead" became available to me by talking to Aela as she stood in the Underforge. Note that I completed the "Glory for the Dead" quest, then fast-traveled to Darkwater Crossing. Aela and other Companions then showed up there, battling a mammoth. When I talked to Aela, "Retrieval" remained impossible to finish. Console command did nothing. Console commands and nothing works to finish this quest. That one thief lady from the sleeping giant inn took the fragment and then I completed her quest and she gave the fragment back and now I can't give the fragment to Alela. Got hit by this glitch too, argh. Maybe it should be added to the bugs section of this quest... currently I have both the totems of hircine and retrieval quests active at the same time but retrieval cannot be completed, I had to find the fragment without help of a quest marker and now Aela doesn't recognize the fragment being in my inventory so I cannot give it to her, I can only hope the "quest complete" console commands will help me get rid of that bug as I'd really love doing quests for Farkas again, they're way more fun than Aela's bugged ones! --Nv4dispbluescreen (talk) 10:11, 24 September 2012 (GMT)

Since Heimskr has no affiliation at all with the Companions, I kind of doubt that this would work. If someone else can verify it, then it could be an actual fix. •WoahBro^►talk 15:44, 9 April 2015 (GMT)

Quest available after completing Glory of the Dead

At the end of Glory of the Dead I asked Aela "What's next" and she gave me this quest, even though to start Glory of the Dead Wuuthrad is already reforged. This just happened to me as well. I am playing on a PC, the game has been patched to 1.9.32.0.8 and it has Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch v3.0.2b.
