Her Real Name[edit]

Will dialogue options concerning her real name open some time? I've completed all possible Thieves Guild quests except returning the Left Eye of the Falmer because of a glitch, but she still says she may talk about it later. Maybe marriage is required? — Unsigned comment by Lauriy (talkcontribs) at 11:17 on 23 November 2011

Unfortunately, she is not able to be married. I guess we'll never know. What a tease! --Cdevine 16:12, 23 November 2011 (UTC)
Her real name is Leona Black-Briar. The Black-Briar family attacked the farm of her biological parents when she was a baby, and rapted her, raising her as their own child.--Veehmot 23:18, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
I can confirm this. You have to complete all quests from the Thieves to get the truth revealed. — Unsigned comment by Veehmot (talkcontribs) at 21:33 on 28 November 2011
Please don't give false information. Iv'e done most things you can do in the game so I know for a fact that what your saying is lies. Nice name though. However if the black briers raped her how is you decided she is black brier?. {{Unsigned|90.194.194.37|03:38, 30 November 2011}
And she says that she illed them all, when the Lack-Briars are still well and alive. And that she got tossed bandit to bandit when you only know of two Black-Briar men, and the only know masks in the game are the dragon masks.

Reviewing the string files, I find no references whatsoever to any "Leona" (not including Leonara Arius). Even searching for all references to Black-Briar don't turn up anything. From looking at the dialog branches for Sapphire in a hex editor, there doesn't appear to be anything other than the same old story she tells. Hopefully the Creation Kit is released soon to verify, as her story has potential. 24.111.157.138 08:22, 25 December 2011 (UTC)

This is merely a speculation that might be far-fetched really, but after finding a note to "keep an eye on Sapphire because she's more than it might seem at first glance" I was thinking - Could it be that it's her who wrote the book Fall From Glory and her story is simply a cover-up? I can't remember whether anyone in the guild knows her name or not. (83.16.137.22 08:11, 26 December 2011 (UTC))
(to the above) You are on the money with "Fall From Glory". If you are lucky enough to find Sapphire sleeping in the thieves guild (around 5 am), under her bed you'll find a copy of "Fall From Glory"... To me, that seals the deal. Her real name is Nithilis Lidari.— Unsigned comment by Yams99 (talkcontribs) on 20 January 2012
I'm glad to not be the only one to have noticed the book under her bed, perhaps expansions will further her story. At least I hope so. On the note that you can find the book under her bed, someone should add that in to the locations of the "Fall from Glory" item page.— Unsigned comment by 71.206.242.210 (talk) on 17 February 2012
Except for the slight problem that Sapphire cannot be Nithilis Lidari. Sapphire is definitely a Nord, and Nithilis Lidari is definitely not a Nord name -- it's most likely a Dunmer name, and probably even a male Dunmer (-is is a far more common ending for male than female Dunmer names). Reading a book doesn't make you the author of a book. Especially if you're undercover and trying to hide your identity, why would you want to carry around a book whose contents you already know? --NepheleTalk 18:24, 17 February 2012 (UTC)
Good point about the name style. Though, between that note and that we're talking about a character whose name is obviously an alias, it seemed a pretty reasonable guess until you brought that up. I added it to the page since we had several in support and none opposed. --Theothersteve7 18:59, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Just to say that Brand-Shei the dunmer has an argonian name, although the age of sapphire's abduction suggests she would remember her original name The Silencer 14:49, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Because someone who is infiltrating the Thieves Guild would use their real name on book about it? Especially when they plan on following up on the book? Using a male Dunmer name would throw off her suspicion since it's almost the total opposite of her. If she is actually investigating the Guild then it would also be very likely that the story she tells you about herself is completely false as well.— Unsigned comment by 71.180.118.198 (talk) on 17 March 2012
Yes, the author's name could be false -- but in that case, the book still doesn't get you any closer to figuring out what Sapphire's real name is. --NepheleTalk 05:30, 18 March 2012 (UTC)
Sapphire is not the author of "Fall From Glory." Remember, the author of that book regretted being branded a criminal, but expressed that it was worth the risk. Sapphire, on the other hand, is perfectly fine with criminal activity. She even sets up the stable-hand without cutting in the Guild, which means she does a few little crimes on the side now and then. That would be out of character for the book's author. However, she might have taken an interest in trying to figure out who the infiltrator is, which would be why she keeps a copy of the book handy. Varus2319 (talk) 07:36, 21 November 2012 (GMT)

{*SPOILER*} Annonymous: i've owned the Dragonborn DLC for about a week and discovered her last name is Malory (Delvin is her uncle) the Blacksmith in Ravenrock in Dragonborn DLC (Glover Mallory) has a note in his Locked basement (he gives you the key through quests) the note is locked away with all his Ex-thieves Guild stuff, INCLUDING BlackGaurd Armour Set. The note is signed with his name stating she is his daughter, and he left the farm when sapphires mother got pregnant, because he was a thief not a farm hand. it also says he went back 15 years later to find the farm mostly destroyed and nobody around. so the remaining question is _____ (Blank) Mallory

Possibly marriage[edit]

Through the use of console commands you can make it so that you can have her as a follower and marry her. She doesn't have any for the follower part, but she does have all the voice files for marriage. Does this mean that there is some possible way to marry her without cheats? — Unsigned comment by 68.48.17.208 (talk) at 06:28 on 1 December 2011

every NPC has the files, most cant be married though. (Eddie The Head 06:37, 1 December 2011 (UTC))
She does ask what she can carry if you want to give her something. I haven't heard her say anything to the effect of "look at that!" or such, but she does have the basic follower dialogue. Varus2319 07:36, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

She does comment on the scenery when you use the console and take her out as a follower. --Tiger8u2 23:36, 31 December 2011 (UTC)

Won't Speak to me, still Angry[edit]

The page says she becomes friendlier on guild progression. But she's always "I don't care to know you" even as the guildmaster. Do I have to do the associated quest as well? Will she open up then?-Zydrate[][] 02:06, 1 February 2012 (UTC)

Unique Armor?[edit]

The page says that she wears standard Thieve's Guild armor, but the standard armor fully covers the arms, while her's does not. So isn't she wearing special armor? Lord Irvine 11:01, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

The page is correct, it links to the Thieves Guild armour on the Specialty Gear page which are unavailable to the player. These are different from the Thieves Guild armour on the Unique Items page which is the version the player obtains. If your looking for armour like Sapphire's I think Linwe's Armor looks similar. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 11:12, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
Actually I removed the word 'standard' from the page, it seemed misleading as you cannot loot/equip any of the standard armour the NPC Thieves wear. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 11:22, 16 July 2012 (UTC)

Her Father[edit]

from a note I just found in Glover Mallory's basement room, Sapphire is apparently his daughter and is the niece of Delvin,

My dearest daughter Sapphire,
It's with a heavy heart that I write this letter. For years I've thought about how I could tell you this, and each time I imagined it would be face-to-face.
I'm ashamed for what I did, and I hope that someday you'll learn to forgive me. Whatever you do, don't blame Delvin for any of this. He didn't know.

66.168.87.167 03:14, 6 December 2012 (GMT)Safyre

How did you get into the room? Just to confirm this." Jeancey (talk) 11:18, 6 December 2012 (GMT)
I completed the quest to get the bonemould recipe from some dude for him, he gives you the key to the room and says you can have whatever you want in it 66.168.87.167 11:33, 6 December 2012 (GMT)Safyre
That is true I confirmed by reading it lol I only found this website cuz i did the quest. so being curious I wondered if they added any more onto sapphire and I started my search which brought me here so now we know saphires last name is either mallory if I remember the fathers last name correctly or its her mothers last name which the game doesn't say cuz the note never said the father married her mother it just says they stayed together for a year and he left when she became pregnant. — Unsigned comment by 66.30.102.45 (talk) at 22:58 on 14 December 2012‎
During an era seeming to be the Medieval Time, you wouldn't get a women pregnant without marrying them, and no normal person lives with a prostitute for over a year, or any real time for that matter.
Should the fact that the letter can be given to her in exchange for a sapphire be added?202.156.8.13 11:03, 27 December 2012 (GMT)

Sapphire is her real name[edit]

Sapphire Mallory The note from her father clearly says "My dearest daughter Sapphire" Why would he refer to her as anything but her real name? The fact that she believes him add to this. (unless Bethesda thought they should keep the name sapphire in the note so we would know who to give it to.) — Unsigned comment by 108.36.232.165 (talk) at 01:19 on January 27, 2013

The page was written before Dragonborn. She says she got her name from picking up shiny rocks, this could be extrapolated to mean that she got her nickname that way, and possibly before the traumatic events that affected her. Perhaps she uses this nickname now to both hide her real name from strangers, and reveal herself to anyone who knew the family before they were murdered. And also, Glover came into contact with her after she had "renamed" herself, and so obviously knew she called herself Sapphire at this point. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 01:47, 27 January 2013 (GMT)
But in the note, it clearly says he wished that he would tell her face-to-face, and not in a note, so if they had they both knew each other, he would have told her then, not writing a note. And Sapphire clearly didn't know that he was her father. And if Sapphire changed her name, her father wouldn't be able to know it was her. And to disprove any further arguments, there would be now DNA testing machines, and you can't say "because it's her father, he would never forget Sapphire's face, it's his kin." because the note states that he left while Sapphire's mother was still pregnant, meaning Sapphire wasn't BORN yet, thus, he would be unable to have seen her face. Unfortunately, there isn't any easy way to prove it because we have no idea weather her pig-farm was in Skyrim or in another location, so we can't go and figure out what her real name is. But, let us sa we got lucky and the farm was in Skyrim, she no one knows her real 100% name, so we can't track down the farm.

Getting her to talk[edit]

I have the glitch where all she'll ever say is that she has nothing to speak to me about. I've tried several things to make her open dialogue so I could give her the letter. The one thing that worked, and I tried this twice, is to use Auriel's Bow to block out the sun. Everyone gets dialogue about the event, and she is no different. Walking near her will get her to ask why the sun is doing that. This somehow breaks the cycle of her not having anything to say to you and actually lets you open her dialogue. I was then able to ask her about her name and give her the letter for the reward. --Mebestien (talk) 05:50, 20 February 2014 (GMT)

Use of Infinite[edit]

The Notes section of this page contains this gem:

"In the Dragonborn expansion, it is revealed that Sapphire is Delvin Mallory's niece and the daughter of the Raven Rock blacksmith Glover Mallory. If you tell her this by bringing her Glover's Letter, she will reward you with an exquisite sapphire. As the entirety of the contents in Glover's Guild room respawn, including the letter, you may repeat this quest as many times as you like, resulting in infinite copies of the Exquisite Sapphire."

What I'm objecting to is the use use of the term "infinite". That would only apply if anyone played the game for an infinite length of time, and that hasn't happened yet. The wording would be better if the word "infinite" was replaced with "multiple".

This might seem like nit-picking, but it really isn't. "Infinite" has a very specific meaning, and it is used incorrectly here. This Wiki strives to be more professional and intelligent-sounding than others, and I fully support that. Entries like the one I mention here do nothing to further that cause. Evil-i (talk) 19:46, 24 April 2015 (GMT)

I disagree. It is exactly the definition of infinite. "subject to no limitation or external determination". How does that not apply here. You can go back as many times as you want, getting as many Exquisite Sapphires as you want, with absolutely no limit to the number of times you do so, except when you wish to stop. That's precisely what the definition is. Jeancey (talk) 20:26, 24 April 2015 (GMT)
I'll back that up, because even if you, in real life, die, you can tell a family member or a friend your Steam password or give them your xbox or ps3 and the game, allowing it to repeat it's self forever.
"Unlimited" might still be the better word choice here, but there's nothing inherently wrong with using infinite in this context. —Legoless (talk) 10:35, 25 April 2015 (GMT)
