seems like a glitch[edit]

After I completed the quest to steal Frost, this guy started sleeping in the wrong jail cell (the one next door to his opulent cell). I did not inform Maven so it seems like a glitch and not a result of punishment for his scheming. 71.163.235.35 20:57, 10 December 2011 (UTC)

I was attacked by Sibbi![edit]

I attacked one of the Black-briar guys (whose name I forgot, the boasting guy with fine clothes, shame he was ESSENTIAL to this game), and also killed every single mercenary of theirs I see; but I don't know which one it is. The point is, I was attacked by Sibbi Black-briar in Largashbur. He demanded that I apologize, for attacking their family (so it was more for attacking his brother anyway), and as I refused he asked several more times; he mustve been scared :) Poor Sibbi, it was AFTER I finished the quest for Largashbur people and he didn't stand a chance against a bunch of giant-fighting orcs. (And he was NOT essential unlike his brother who was actually attacked) I think I was supposed to be attacked by a Dark-brotherhood associate for my assault, but I cleansed their sanctuary long ago. So it had to be someone from the family. — Unsigned comment by 59.9.202.228 (talk) at 02:57 on 14 December 2011

life-like[edit]

doesn't Sibbi look remarkably similar to Mark Lampert? — Unsigned comment by 80.232.211.162 (talk) at 06:12 on 10 January 2012

Consequences of Death[edit]

Are there any consequences from killing Sibbi? I shot an arrow through his annoying little head after I completed all his quests (dead easy to do while staying hidden), and his body disappeared after only a few days, but no-one seems to have noticed. Does anyone actually care that he's dead? -- Haravikk 14:44, 29 February 2012 (UTC)

Interestingly I tried killing Sibbi again in a different play-through, however he appears to be essential? Is he essential until his quests are complete? If so he should be marked as such, I'll try doing his quests to see if he can die afterwards. -- Haravikk (talk) 12:37, 25 November 2012 (GMT)
It definitely seems like he's essential until you've done one or both of his quests (steal the horse and find his fiancee). Could someone check the creation kit and make sure? I couldn't kill him initially but I completely forgot about testing this and did both of his quests before trying to kill him, worked fine after I'd handed the quests in though. That empty cell across from him makes an excellent vantage point for firing a crossbow while hidden… -- Haravikk (talk) 16:56, 2 December 2012 (GMT)
Looking at the CK, it's the quest Promises to Keep that makes him essential by aliasing him. That quest is start game enabled, so he will be essential from the start, but lose it when the quest finishes. He doesn't gain any protection from the quest The Lover's Requital though. --Alfwyn (talk) 18:24, 2 December 2012 (GMT)

Svana Far-Shield[edit]

Just after completing her quest to embarrass that witch of a woman Haelga, I overheard Svana and Haelga talking about Svana keeping her virginity for the man she loves. Haelga said "Sibbi doesn't love you, he just wants to bed you then be done with it, honestly you'de be better off doing what I do"

However Sibbi doesn't make mention of this nor does Svana when you speak with them personally, just between aunt and niece. — Unsigned comment by 50.135.172.204 (talk) at 20:18 on 7 March 2012

Not everything is a quest. In this case the dialogue adds some background to NPCs. Wolok gro-Barok 18:48, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
On a related note, CSList lists his relationship with Svana as "Lover". Is this noteworthy? --Xyzzy Talk 04:22, 10 October 2012 (GMT)

Hemming Black-Briar is Sibbi & Ingun's "father"[edit]

Afer about of minute of Hemming Black-Briar blab about himself he finally said something that really disturbs me.

He said: "My children, Sibbi and Ingun, are being groomed to be the future heirs and rulers of the black briar family one day. Sibbi will prove to be a fine ruler but Ingun has her head in the clouds." He also said "Maven is dissapointed that Ingun isn't interested in the family business but says she still has her uses whatever that means" — Unsigned comment by 50.135.172.204 (talk) on 13 April, 2012

Correct, Hemming is the father of Sibbi and Ingun, and son of Maven. I've corrected all of their articles. I'm not sure what's so disturbing about that, however. --NepheleTalk 02:35, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
What's Disturbing is Hemming is Maven's son too... Which would mean Sibbi and Ingun are Maven's children/grandchildren — Unsigned comment by 50.135.172.204 (talk) at 05:52 on 14 April 2012
Maven is not the mother of Sibbi and Ingun. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 05:57, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5eJg3PZrfA yes she is.... according to in game. "Mother should thought I be taught a lesson and threw me in jail" Who threw him in jail, Maven. — Unsigned comment by 50.135.172.204 (talk) on 14 April 2012
There does seem to be an inconsistency with the dialogue and the actual data. According to the game data, though, Maven is their grandmother. (Interestingly, the relationships in Maven's data call her their grandfather). eshetalk 13:30, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
Not to mention Mjoll the Lioness refers to Ingun as "Maven's daughter" and calls Hemming "Maven's son" when you ask Mjoll about the Black-Briar family. VycDarkshadow (talk) 00:47, 28 January 2013 (GMT)

() Okay, after confirming it in the CK, I think the correct arrangement is that Maven is Hemming's mother, and Hemming is the father of Ingun and Sibbi, as others have stated. There are indeed some places where the dialogue is inconsistent on this, but most of if seems to support this version of the story, so I've updated all the relevant pages and added a Bug section to each of them indicating the discrepancy. TheRealLurlock (talk) 01:39, 28 January 2013 (GMT)

I think it would be best to be ambiguous about this, and just point out that the game is contradictory. There's quite a bit of stuff supporting the claim she is their mother too, see this discussion for example. Weroj (talk) 05:10, 18 March 2013 (GMT)
