Alternate version images[edit]

Shouldn't the images show the alternate version of the steel armor? The one with the shoulder pads? Edit: forgot to sign ¬_¬ 82.243.194.53 15:36, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Yes one of them should be I add a request for one --SPMcKinney 04:10, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Is it just me[edit]

When I was checking out the page In the Steel Armor section it seems the table is over lapping the pictures (picture of what I see [1]) anyone else see the same or is it just me. --SPMcKinney 03:45, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

I am not seeing it that way, is your browser window maximized? Maybe it's just the width of your monitor/screen? ABCface 03:48, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
My browser is at max and my screen it is 18" widescreen and at max resolution 1024x786. (hope that is what you meant :S ) --SPMcKinney 04:14, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
EDIT: Hmm ok weird it seems it may be my browser (Google Chrome) as it appears like it should with Firefox --SPMcKinney 04:19, 17 July 2012 (UTC)
EDIT 2: Figured what was wrong (to a point at least) it was my font I had to change it it doesn't look like it should still but its better than it was. --SPMcKinney 04:33, 17 July 2012 (UTC)

Crossbows[edit]

Does anyone else with Dawnguard have the annoyance of only being able to craft crossbows and enhanced crossbows at the forge in Fort Dawnguard? I discovered this irritating fact when I tried to make them at the forge in Whiterun. I haven't checked where I can make the bolts yet. At least the fast travel point migrated from the middle of the canyon to much closer to the actual fort entrance I guess.--Playerseekingbugs 07:04, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes, I have that same issue, crossbows and bolts both, only craftable at Fort Dawnguard. I didn't think much of it...assumed it was a coding issue and that the weapons were craftable only in the DLC. (It's worse for my husband, though. He chose the vampire route, and he can't make crossbows or bolts at all. The forge at Fort Dawnguard does not appear for him--I'm thinking back and perhaps the smith was one of the quests early on, to recruit?--and he doesn't get the option anywhere else.) Your fast travel point should be right below the steps to the fort interior, though...have you finished most of the DG quest? Oshaugm 03:32, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
The fast travel point migrated to the front door shortly after the canyon was better fortified (I think after the recruiting quest it changed). I thought the forge was there beforehand, but I can't remember, and Sorine teaches you how to make the base ones the first time you talk to her after finishing the recruitment quest. And he may be able to buy the better bolts and crossbows from Sorine when he gets the quest to eradicate the Dawnguard leaders (I'm pretty sure she spawns in the Fort when this side quest is triggered, but not certain). All he has to do is use a calm spell on them when he visits and not kill them until he really feels like doing more vampire side quests. Only the two where you get unique and useful items are worth the bother, after all. If he visits Castle Volkihar frequently, then the neverending supply of Dawnguard Scouts should give him plenty of DG Armor, DG War Axes, Crossbows, and Steel Bolts. I wish I could switch sides after the questline, or flip-flop between them or something to get all the useful unique items and extra trainers.--Playerseekingbugs 20:49, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
This isn't a bug. When you talk to Sorine, she specifically mentions crafting the items at "Gunmar's forge", which would be the forge in Fort Dawnguard. It doesn't appear until after you've recruited them, so the only way you can craft the bolts and crossbows is to join the Dawnguard. I'll go ahead and note that on the related pages, though, as it's important information many players will miss in-game. ABCface 06:49, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
Belated as this, thank you. I hadn't thought of that yet, but I guess I do remember her saying that all the time when I was fetching her plans. Still an annoyance attached to the main reason to join the Dawnguard. I actually enjoy the vampire side quests more, but they don't offer the chance to make Crossbows. Though the enhanced crossbows have no real advantage over vampires wearing very mediocre light armor.--Playerseekingbugs 13:42, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Yes.You could always sell the helmet to a fence and buy it back if you don't want it to be flagged as stolen.--Skyrimplayer 20:32, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
This helmat can be found just inside the entrance of Kilkreath Ruins. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 20:35, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
Also at the Shrine of Talos near Froki's shack. Telrav (talk) 09:52, 25 September 2014 (GMT)

Imperial Full Face ( Closed ) Helmet.[edit]

I think there needs I be a note as to where to find the Full Face/Closed version of the imperial helm. It has three locations.

At Autumnwatch Tower, head east up the mountain side and past Froki's Shack, eventually a Shrine of Talos will be found. This helmet will respawn at this Shrine of Talos after one or two weeks.

Just inside the entrance to Kilkreath Temple (beneath the Statue to Meridia) beside an Imperial Desecrated Corpse, this helmet is only accessible after level 12 is achieved because this is the level required to start The Break of Dawn.

In the East Empire Company Warehouse, during the Thieves Guild quest, Scoundrel's Folly, in the last room where Gulum-Ei is confronted for the second time, it is on the second shelf directly next to the first short staircase and just under the second short staircase sitting next to a piece of imperial light armour.

KingKTalk 17:21, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the locations, I really like that helmet. Do you know if the one in Kilkreath and the warehouse respawn as well? Having more copies is nice in case I want to enchant them.--71.246.13.45 23:38, 29 August 2012 (UTC)

Normal bolts[edit]

Normal bolts can be crafted at any forge. - certainly not true, or typo. None of forges in world except in the fort Dawnguard allow crafting bolts, they offer steel arrows only. 162.216.46.52 10:19, 22 June 2016 (UTC)

Answering to myself, found in other TES wiki, do not know why this fact not mentioned here: If you sided with the Vampires then you can't learn to make crossbow bolts, and they will not show up on the Smithing menu. 162.216.46.176 04:25, 23 June 2016 (UTC)

Bonemold[edit]

This perk also lets you make Bonemold armor; I think it should be included since this is the perk that does this. Sure, it's DLC, but that's easy to mark, and with SSE having all the DLC, and Legendary edition having DLC, it doesn't make sense to me not to include it. — Unsigned comment by 24.240.88.93 (talk) on 07:49 UTC 23 March 2017

Bug with Imperial Helment (craftable) in Skyrim Special Edition[edit]

So I noted that my Imperial Helmet wasn't giving me as much armor as my Imperial Gauntlets and Imperials Boots where, which doesn't match the numbers here. Looking at my perks and doing some napkin math made me realize that it appears that the Imperial Helmet is not benefitting from my Heavy Armor perks (and/or skill?) like it should. I am gaining 20 armor from it, whereas the gauntlets and boots are giving me 25 and the armor itself, 48. I'm playing with no mods what so ever, so this is definitely an issue in the current version of SSE, as of this posting. 76.14.218.72 13:02, 22 December 2017 (UTC)

"The Imperial helmet that can be crafted is tagged with the ArmorMaterialImperialStudded keyword instead of the ArmorMaterialImperialHeavy keyword used by the other pieces. This means that the Steel Smithing perk has no effect when tempering it, and that it's impossible to get the Matching Set bonus while wearing it. This helmet is also mis-tagged with the ArmorLight keyword, meaning that it is controlled by Light Armor skill perks instead of Heavy Armor skill perks.
This issue has been addressed by version 1.2 of the Unofficial Skyrim Patch; the official patch 1.9 fixes the material keyword, but it will still not be governed by the Heavy Armor skill perks without the Unofficial Skyrim Patch."
