Forged Letter[edit]

Since I cannot edit the main page: I had the forged letter the other way round (Sven giving me a forgery of a Faendal letter). Either the information here is the wrong way round or it depends on whom you talk to first (or it is randomly decided who's who). --217.225.193.113 05:43, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

It depends who you talk to first. I always encounter Sven first and get the letter from him. My cousin seems to encounter Faendal first, getting the letter from him.--Dro'Bakha 06:01, 14 November 2011 (UTC)

Sven bug!!![edit]

Solution to Sven Bug[edit]

I had added a solution to the Sven AI bug, but Krusty removed it because it was too long. I searched everywhere for a solution to that bug but could not find it. Finally I spent about an hour trying different things to fix it. Here is the solution that I had posted:

"It may be possible to fix this with the 'moveto' command. Open the console and click on Sven so that his ID is shown at the top center of the console (i.e., he is selected) and then close the console again. Then, go straight west out of the village using the road you came in on after leaving Helgen. After 40 to 50 feet, where the road starts to curve, make your way onto the overhanging rocks and dirt covered in moss to the south of the road. Get a good 20 or 30 feet south from the road and then use the command 'moveto player' in the console. This will teleport Sven to your location. Walk away from him so he stops trying to talk to you. He should then start walking back to the village, but will end up taking a long path around the south side of the village, eventually finding another road that leads him to the south entrance. From there he will walk back to the main road and enter his house. This seems to break Sven's AI out of the loop. This was tested around 6 to 8 am on the second day of the game, which is likely why he entered his house (to sleep). That night, Sven was found entertaining at the Sleeping Giant Inn. What exactly Sven does after reentering the village this way and whether or not this fix even works may change at different times and on different days." - Senzin

Krusty, I realize the solution is a bit long, but I thought extra detail was better than insufficient detail. I think the reason the solution works is because Sven is put in a location that forces the AI to find a new route that takes him on a long walk outside any existing paths, such as the ones in the village. Before finding this solution, I tried moving Sven to many different places within the village and outside of it (though still on the road). It's because of all the failures I encountered before finding a solution that I wanted to make my posted solution detailed. Otherwise I foresaw many users trying to fix the AI and failing because they weren't moving Sven to the right place. Don't you think it's better to have my long solution there than no solution at all? — Unsigned comment by Senzin (talkcontribs) at 01:07 on 1 January 2012

Personally, I'd shorten it and add it to the main page. But then again, I'm new.Trentv4 00:24, 13 January 2012 (UTC)
I added a few more details to the discussion here and put a shorter version of the solution on the main page. - Senzin — Unsigned comment by Senzin (talkcontribs) at 07:44 on 4 February 2012
I condensed the bug. Instead of having specific distances and directions on how to get there, I made it more general, as I doubt it must be exact to fix it. The last few sentences on Sven's behavior after the fix are irrelevant, as is when the bug was tested. --Velyanthe 15:20, 4 February 2012 (UTC)

what the what?[edit]

ok so i went to riverwood for the second time (new playthrough) talked to sven and he gave me a token of friendship... that was the first time i met him i are confused— Unsigned comment by 71.203.124.26 (talk) at 21:47 on 7 April 2012

A token of friendship is sometimes given when a certain stage in your relationship has been reached. Maybe you played as a fellow Nord, which makes him like you enough from the start, without having to complete his errand first. Wolok gro-Barok 16:25, 8 April 2012 (UTC)

Getting Sven to pick up dropped armor to raise disposition[edit]

I decided to use Sven for a sacrifice to Boethiah, and unlike last time I decided to see if I could use the same trick I used on Ahtar to make him happy enough to follow me after confessing that I was carrying a forged letter to Camilla. I don't care very much about Camilla having a lover at the end of this, but I would like to try it for once. I dropped a Scaled Helmet in front of him several in succession while he was in the Inn during the evening, and he asked to have it, but he wouldn't stop asking to have it, and he never moved to pick it up. I tried dropping it in his as he walked from his house to the inn, but simply ignored it every time, and I tried at least 20 times then. Then I tried dropping it in the Inn, but that didn't even get him into a "can I have it?" loop. I then tried dropping it, waiting an hour, going in and out of the loading door. No success. The last 2 techniques were also tried with Steel Imperial Gauntlets. Will he ever successfully pick up dropped armor? If so, when and where? And if so can he become a follower afterwards like Ahtar?--Playerseekingbugs (talk) 06:51, 12 January 2013 (GMT)

This is a bug. Maybe in a patch Bethesda will fix this. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:51, 11 July 2013 (GMT)

Dragonborn Glitch[edit]

I'm on the Xbox, and now that I have Dragonborn, Sven says, "I suppose Master Neloth won't mind. He's always telling me to get out of the way," or something to that effect when asked to follow, though the caption says the standard, "Lead the way." Has anyone else experienced this? Eximago (talk) 09:12, 15 January 2013 (GMT)

When Sven is recruited as a follower after downloading dragonborn he will say "I suppose master Neloth won't mind. he's always telling me to get out of his way."
But the subtitles say the normal dialogue. — Unsigned comment by 2.221.200.174 (talk) at 20:41 on February 2, 2013
I added this bug to the article, since there have now been two reports of the same bug. Feel free to edit it for details or clarity since I was basing my wording off of this discussion and haven't experienced it personally myself. — ABCface 06:33, 3 February 2013 (GMT)
This glitch can also occur when speaking to Agmaer, a member of the Dawnguard — Unsigned comment by 109.158.87.246 (talk) at 19:44 on 11 July 2013
It must be a bug with the MaleYoungEager voicetype. Some dialogue for NPC's who are followers with the MaleYoungEager voicetype use Talvas Fathryon's voice files instead because of this bug. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:47, 11 July 2013 (GMT)
