Moved Note[edit]

  • Temba's full name is a reference to an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation called Darmok in which an alien race who speak in metaphors are encountered. The reference quote as spoken is "Temba, his arms wide" which signified a gift or giving.

Seems unlikely to me. Temba is a name, and "Wide-Arm" is just the usual Nord nonsense. --Legoless 23:01, 3 December 2011 (UTC)

I don't care if the egg is explained or even mentioned on this page, but personally, there's no doubt in my mind that it's an egg. I don't know if you've seen the episode of ST:TNG at issue, but the phrase "Temba, his arms wide" is featured prominently and is used several times; it wasn't just some insignificant blurb used in one instance. "Temba" is a name that's never been used before in the TES games; it's not like we're talking about a common and expected Nord name like "Ulfgar". And "Wide-Arm", likewise, is an original and unique Nordic name. The fact that they seem to fit into common Nordic naming conventions merely demonstrates for me why they chose to include it in the first place (after all, a good egg isn't supposed to stand out, right?). Further, this isn't the only egg to Star Trek that's been found; clearly, there are a few Trekkies at Bethesda. I think the chances of "Temba" and "Wide-Arm" being matched together and included in this game randomly and without purpose are so microscopically small that, to be honest, I'm surprised to be having this discussion with a user as distinguished as yourself. Just in case you haven't seen the episode, hopefully the end of this clip and the beginning of this clip might give you some context. And as people trying to re-add this note to the page have already demonstrated, there's widespread community recognition of this egg, and it's included in many Skyrim egg videos, forums, and other wikis. I agree that this is an Easter Egg. I was going to add more, but Minor Edits basically said everything better than I did. The only thing I have to add is that the episode of TNG is especially memorable; it's one of the few times that the universal translator didn't work (even though there are MANY times that it isn't even present, yet still 'works'). In my opinion, this is one of the more obvious references since 1) 'Temba' as a name is not Nordic, 2) 'Temba' is a male name ("his arms wide"), not female, and 3) it does reference a memorable episode, not something obscure.
Also Lukish, how about you be a little more careful instead of completely deleting my note, eh? --Fluff 03:37, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Clips are entitled Star Trek: Darmok (The Picard Principle of Intercultural Communication), and Darmok/Gilgamesh, in case these links are broken. One of my favorite episodes of TNG. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 03:10, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Whoops. I don't know how that happened. I was watching Star Trek the whole time. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 04:21, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
I don't have a problem with the note being re-added if people agree that it's legitimate. After all, that's why I moved it here in the first place. --Legoless 13:02, 4 December 2011 (UTC)
Of all the memorable characters and episodes in the Star Trek franchise, why would the developers choose to reference this particular episode? From where I sit, it's one of those embarrassingly bad and painful to watch episodes. The over-acting is definitely in the ham & cheese category. Evil-i 17:40, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

  • When she dies, the player receives a letter of inheritance from a courier with 90 gold.

The first one doesn't belong here as any NPC you can befriend is likely to bequeath to you something in case they die. The second one, while interesting if true, would more likely belong on Skyrim:Easter Eggs (unless the standards have changed since I last visited, I try to avoid that page). --AKB Talk Cont Mail 17:40, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Sawn Logs?[edit]

(PS3 user) Has anyone been able to buy sawn logs (Hearthfire) from Temba? My character couldn't even get the dialogue option to show up, let alone the choice to cut them myself. Is this a glitch?MrC (talk) 05:27, 8 March 2013 (GMT) 21:16, 5 March 2013 (GMT)

You can't she's not one of the people who sell them. Check the Hearthfire section for the list. Lord Eydvar Talk|Contribs 06:28, 8 March 2013 (GMT)
