Hostile Salonia[edit]

When beginning this quest (on the PC), I ran into an interesting bug where trying to follow Garan to,the empty chalice would for some reason cause the room full of vampires to go hostile on me. Discovered later that there was some bug causing Salonia, who stands right next to the chalice, to be hostile to me while in the castle and her hostility would make all of the others turn on me as well. Found a work-around that if I stealthed after Galan, he would trigger and give me the chalice while I remained hidden to Salonia and I could continue the quest without being attacked by my fellow vampires. Hope this might help anyone else who may run into this problem. 71.212.123.184 00:43, 6 August 2012 (UTC)

What when on Dawnguard side[edit]

I stumbled upon this area/cave by wandering, having long finished the Dawnguard main quest (Dawnguard side). So, I arrived, was sent to the den at the entrance, and took a shot. I ended up in the cage, etc. . Finally, after much running around, I found this blood water well. "Activating" it gives me two diseases (don't remember the names, although, they were vampire-ish oriented). The two books/notes found during the journey lead to think there's this chalice that could put an end to this. And, I guess that's where there's a problem. Reading the wiki led me to go back to the vampire castle. I searched for the chalice there, from top to bottom, and came up empty. So, to the question: does this cave/quest/item have any meaning when siding with Dawnguards ?

For reference, I'm playing the French version with the Dawnguard add-on (via Steam - although, said add-on is in English :) ). Sylvain — Unsigned comment by 82.124.128.229 (talk) at 18:54 on 19 August 2012

OK, The chalice was in the "chalice room" .. heh. However, "activate"-ing it produces nothing. It thus cannot be transported to the cave.
Any insight about that would be welcome.

Considering it's a quest item given to you during the quest, and the quest can only be given if you choose to side with the vampires, I don't think there's a way for you to transport it if you're allied with the Dawnguard, at least not without using console commands. Activating the Bloodspring without being a vampire will give Sanguinare Vampiris and a second disease (Rattles?). If you are a vampire you will gain the active power Tainted Blood of the Ancients. If you joined the Vampire side and filled the Bloodstone Chalice with the blood from the bloodspring then you could have activated the Chalice to get the active power Blood of the Ancients. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 19:44, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Floating Chalice[edit]

When I fought Lord Harkon, I discovered a chest containing the Bloodstone Chalice full of blood. I don't know if this is just for me, but when I drop the chalice, it floats there. I can't move it. All I can do is pick it back up. No matter where I set it, it floats, unmoving. --anastasia0812 (talk) 03:05, 15 July 2013 (GMT)

Moved from article[edit]

  • Since you may be treated as "mortal" when not in Vampire Lord form, this quest cannot be completed without the use of the console to skip the steps requiring conversations with the various vampires of the castle.

This bug confuses me. The part about being required to use the console to complete the quest is patently false, as I've never had an issue getting the conversations to play normally. I'm also not sure what being in vampire lord form has to do with anything; I don't normally use vampire form when I'm talking to NPCs (I wasn't even aware that you COULD). If the bug is trying to say that you can't complete the quest without being allied with the Volkihar (i.e., being a vampire lord), then it's neither a bug nor noteworthy-that's generally the way it works if you ally with the Volkihar.
