Quest Start[edit]

Does this quest even start if you havn't cleared the mine in Shor's Stone first? 107.192.193.123 20:34, 18 October 2012 (GMT)

If Filnjar dies before completion, does quest fail permanently?[edit]

In my game, Filnjar died in a dragon attack that happened in Shor's Stone while I was there carrying out this quest. I had already picked up the ore sample from him and was getting ready to leave town when the dragon attacked. Like any good Nord, Filnjar grabbed a weapon and ran to the fight. When it was all over, he was dead, killed by the dragon. I returned to Elgrim's Elixirs in Riften and spoke to Hafjorg, but the dialogue option for completing the quest was not available. As a result, no free ingredients in Elgrim's Elixirs for me. I couldn't see any way of resolving the quest. Am I correct that it fails permanently because Filnjar died, even though I had already completed my interaction with him beforehand?

Update: I did eventually get the "Investor" perk on the Speech tree, and invested in Elgrim's Elixirs (changing their disposition toward me), so the shop's lower-cost items are finally free for the taking, without stealing.PSniper66 (talk) 23:16, 12 May 2015 (GMT)

A slight technicality is that it becomes incompletable rather than fails. The last quest stage calls on Filnjar's ref to update his relationship status, which because he is dead cannot happen. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:27, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

Quest Reward Bug ?[edit]

Completed quest, received potions. Am not able to take low value items, still marked steal. Using console, setrelationshiprank 19dfc (Hafjorg) to 1 or 2 still does not allow looting the store without crime? S1D3WYZ (talk) 19:34, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
