Stormcloaks?[edit]

Are these guys Stormcloaks? 76.166.130.139 13:47, 5 August 2013 (GMT)

I guess it can be assumed considering they are guards in the capital of the Stormcloak rebellion and that they wear armor similar to/identical to Stormcloak armor, one may say yes, they are Stormcloaks. On the other hand, the fact that they are simply city guards rather than soldiers out on the field may point to that no, they aren't Stormcloaks. But all of this would only be an assumption with no in-game fact (unless I'm missing something). *WoahBro►talk 14:06, 5 August 2013 (GMT)
They serve Jarl Ulfric as guards, but there is no statement given wether they support the rebellion or not. -- SarthesArai Talk 14:09, 5 August 2013 (GMT)
Windhelm guards are a de facto part of the in-game Stormcloak faction. 88.193.133.174 23:13, 30 April 2014 (GMT)
Factions don't really mean anything though, a lot of factions are merely to give a large amount of people the same generic dialogue, and alter their disposition depending on your actions to that faction. Even them getting replaced isn't a confirmation, as they are replaced by the army, not a different local force. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:27, 30 April 2014 (GMT)

Strange comment by a guard in the palace[edit]

I'm almost positive I've just heard one of the guards in the passageway leading to Wuunferth the Unliving's quarters saying The emperor of Skyrim murdered. These are dark times. I Don't believe ever heard this before and I was running out the door and couldn't stop myself activating the door. Is this a mistake within the game or my ears? If someone knows whether this can be checked in the CK. Thanks regardless, it could just be my ears and a severe case of sleep dep. Biffa (talk) 13:10, 8 November 2014 (GMT)

A quick look provided "By the gods. The Emperor's been murdered. On his own ship... moored in the inlet. It was... the Dark Brotherhood. There was nothing we could do..." and "You hear the news? The Emperor has been murdered! Right here, in Skyrim. By the gods, if the Dark Brotherhood can do that, nobody's safe..." as generic guard dialogue after Hail Sithis! has been completed. -- SarthesArai Talk 13:39, 8 November 2014 (GMT)
I'm pretty positive I've heard this line before. •WoahBro►talk 13:47, 8 November 2014 (GMT)
Yeah I've heard those others plenty of times, but this was something I've never heard before. Cheers. Biffa (talk) 00:44, 9 November 2014 (GMT)
Answered my own question, just heard it again by Solitude stables. Biffa (talk) 19:25, 11 November 2014 (GMT)
I do wonder if these guys are simply given more interesting dialogue than most town guards. Just after completing the Saarthal part of 'Lost Legends,' I had a Windhelm guard tell me: "They say mages have been snooping around Saarthal. No good can come of that."
