Interesting side note (spoiler) about Dandras Vules[edit]

I just put here in discussions since I cannot promise other people will see the same thing. He really is tough! He uses enchanted bow/arrows which killed my level 5 player in 2 to 3 arrows always. After dying 4 times I stubbled upon an interesting quirk. I had a simple companion with me, and the 5th time I tried I opened the last door while standing off to the right side thinking a bit about what to try next. My companion ranged the rat - as expected - and then I noticed the arrows coming out of the door (tough rat? course not). I edged over (A-key) to see what was happening and to hit Dandras Vules with a few fire spells. As he turned his focus on me and my health dropped near death I edged back (D-key). However, I noticed he stopped firing when he thought his arrow path was blocked and just stood there glaring at me. My companion slowly emptied her remaining 50+ steel arrows into him, then took an iron battle ax we'd picked up as a skeleton drop and finished him off with 40 or more hits. I normally don't like "winning" this way; but found it novel to watch him ignore his active attacker completely and just glare at me as he slowly died. — Unsigned comment by Angmojoe (talkcontribs) at 18:04 on 21 September 2006‎

While this could be attempted with the official companion Calvus Horatius, it's too irreproducible to document here. One would have to be standing in exactly the right spot at the right time with the companion also in the right spot at the right time for this exploit to work. In the end, it's just another variation of the "sometimes you can kill enemies by hiding behind stuff and getting them stuck" exploit, which applies to everything. — Darklocq  ¢ 03:18, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

Glitch while fighting Dandras Vules[edit]

Apparently, after you kill Dandras in any way (even including using the console) he would begin to spam you with messages which results in the game to lag, and cannot be solved in any other way than restarting the game. As of now, there is no way to complete the quest normally, as he cannot be looted, and the only way to get the journal entry (for the contract) is to cast Calm on him, then stealing the contract, making the next part of the quest available. — Unsigned comment by 165.21.155.88 (talk) at 23:26 on 13 December 2007‎

I've discovered the reason for this, and it has to do with his line of sight to the player. If he can't see you for any reason, whether you killed him from out of sight or have a 100% Chameleon effect active, you'll get a dialogue loop from him where he repeatedly says, "Who's there?" This happened to me when I crippled him with Damage Strength and then blasted him with area-effect damage spells from out of his line of sight. The only way to get out of this is to forcibly shut down the game. This means you need to make sure he can always see you the moment you deliver the killing blow. I've added this glitch to the Bugs section.FrozenWolf150 (talk) 10:44, 24 February 2013 (GMT)

Another Glitch[edit]

(moved from the article) Sometimes when you kill Dadras Vule, you cannot explore his corpse and so you cannot continue the quest. — Unsigned comment by {} (talk • contribs) at 11:23 on 1 November 2010‎ 2=84.251.83.74

This sounds like a classic one-off to me. There's no reason why one particular NPC should have a corpse that can't be activated. rpeh •TCE 18:46, 1 November 2010 (UTC)

Continuous Income[edit]

The respawning income is way out of game balance. At one point, after stockpiling numerous kills in the cave, recalling home and then making several trips to the mudcrab, I turned the loot into something over 372 thousand drakes. That's just ridiculous. Gglazer (talk) 06:39, 19 January 2015 (GMT)
