Morrowind:Frink Ruuz

Also nominating Morrowind:Boss Crito, Morrowind:Snowy Granius, Morrowind:Surus Velvus, Bloodmoon:Raccan‎ and Bloodmoon:Vilbia Herennia. These NPCs are all Non-Relevant by criterion #2. The existence of these pages implies that we plan to create pages for every single NPC (almost 4000 of them!) in Morrowind, which I think it's pretty clear is not the case. There is no information at all on these pages that isn't duplicated on their respective location pages, Morrowind:Arkngthand and Bloodmoon:Fort Frostmoth, in a much more convenient manner. I think they should all be replaced by redirects to those pages. (I'd also nominate Tribunal:Diradeni Farano, except that her information isn't currently displayed on Tribunal:Royal Palace, but then, nobody else in Tribunal is either, so that's something that needs to be fixed.) The only thing on any of these pages that isn't duplicated on their location pages is the pictures, which by themselves are not enough justification for keeping the pages. --TheRealLurlock Talk 19:49, 20 December 2008 (EST)

  • Keep - Antabolis Informant mentions a number of these entries in the walkthrough. Their pictures are useful in completion of the Main Quest. If there were a thorough pictorial walkthrough for getting that Dwemer Puzzle Box, then these pages would be unimportant for any quests. Until then, we'd better keep the full info. As for complete listings of NPC pages, I don't really see why that's a bad idea. Although the current redirects to place pages is adequate for current information, In the future we may need more space for better coverage. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 21:02, 20 December 2008 (EST)
Just because a name gets mentioned in a walkthrough doesn't mean it needs to be a link. The name is all you need; a full page is a waste of space on the site and time on the part of the viewer who clicks the link expecting to see some sort of useful information. And I really don't think that we want a page for every NPC. What would you put on them, their equipment? The vast, vast majority of it is useless, low-quality armor, weapons and clothing that can be found pretty much everywhere. Those NPCs who carry high-quality stuff are generally relevant in some other way as well, and thus already have pages. In some cases, we even list the notable equipment for non-relevant NPCs on the location page where their name redirects, and we could do this more regularly. (Though I don't think we need to mention every piece of Bonemold Armor worn by every random bandit in the game.) Unless you can think of some kind of information that's both useful and notable to include on every single NPC, I see no reason to create such pages. In fact, it's counterproductive. With the current system, you can easily distinguish between notable and non-notable NPCs based on which ones have links to their own pages. If we made a page for everyone, they'd all have links and thus be impossible to tell apart without clicking each link individually and waiting for page-loads. Anyhow, I think I've made just about every point that can be made on Morrowind talk:Non-Relevant NPCs#Full Pages or Redirects?. --TheRealLurlock Talk 23:07, 20 December 2008 (EST)
the viewer who clicks the link expecting to see some sort of useful information. I'm submitting that information in the form of screenshots are useful. Instead of breaking down the "extra" information, we should be building it up so it's not so useless, and organizing it so it so you can still find all the same "more useful" information as quickly as before. The policy for Non-Relevant NPCs shouldn't be counterproductive to future development. Lukish_ Tlk Cnt 16:31, 21 December 2008 (EST)
  • Keep - I don't believe the existence of these pages implies anything. They exist, they've been viewed and they don't hurt the site. Deleting perfectly good pages is unnecessary and perverse. –RpehTCE 01:54, 21 December 2008 (EST)
  • Keep - Deleting these pages seems pointless given that they've been created. Boss Crito and Snowy Granius must be encountered during the main quest of Morrowind, and it's not unreasonable to include pages about them. The other pages are less important but I agree with Rpeh - why delete them now they exist? Dr Jones 09:11, 21 December 2008 (EST)
  • Keep - Please err on the side of providing more information (as long as it is accurate) and not less. Dee 11:42, 26 December 2008 (EST)
