Moved Rambling notes[edit]

I'm moving my notes here as I'll be working on the actual article in a sec, just to get them out of the way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 23:37, 23 April 2011 (UTC)

  • Dragon Language Describes the dragon language and dragon shouts a bit. Also, details on how dragons write.
  • Throat of the World Not much info here, but it does mention that the Greybeards seem to know more of the language of the dragons.
  • Dragon Worship A reference to Nord worship of dragons, and several temples built to honor them. Also it mentions that there aren't a finite number of dragons, and some are more important than others.
  • Dragon word wall A little bit of details on Word Walls, fighting dragons, and what happens to dragons when they die. As Dragon Born you consume the dragons soul when you kill one, leaving only its bones behind as the body is consumed in fire. Apparently some dragons may be friendly as well, but I don't see a way of working that in.
  • Dragon Debate "For a dragon, combat is debate. When it’s breathing fire at you, it’s talking at you in power-words, or Shouts. Your part in the discussion is to Shout back…"
  • Alduin and the Jill Information on the Nordic god Alduin taking the form of a dragon. It also mentions something called the Jills, black dragons associated with Alduin. It is unknown if this is an alternative name for the dragons or a specific group of dragons. Also apparently the Dragon Born is a Dragon Hunter appointed by the gods with the task of defeating Alduin and the Jills. He/she is also responsible for the protection of Skyrim and Tamriel. This also mentions the Golden Dragon Claw that is part of a quest (Also mentioned by Euro Gamer) taking you into a Dragon Temple. This may be useful on the subject of dragon worship.
  • Joystiq preview nothing here that isn't already mentioned it seems. Though could be a good second source to support the others.
  • Dragon Physique A description of the physical characteristic of dragons can be found within. Another mention of dragons being infinite in number, so they are more like Oblivion Gates then previously thought (If you kill one more may appear to take its place)
  • The Dragon Problem Dragons causing problems for the locals is briefly mentioned (Also something about a Jarl, some kind of political figure)
  • Leveled Dragons, and regular visitation The game will send dragons appropriate for your level, so there are leveled variants or they are leveled. Also it mentions that dragons will appear if they haven't bothered you in a while. A bit more on dragon language as well, supporting the earlier mention of dragon fights being debates as things like breathing fire is just them talking. My mother always said if you haven't anything nice to say, don't. Dragons don't have that rigid moral code it seems. Another mention of Nordic dragon worship, which died out thousands of years ago it seems.
  • Here be game bosses a quote from the man himself, Todd Howard about dragons being the games bosses. Something else about how you will have to use a lot of resources (Fire balls, a precious resource). It also says that dragons are the most powerful beings in Tamriel, but I'll take that as speculation as they also said dragons have never been in the games before. Also something about an undead dragon priest, so that is pretty cool I guess for the whole Dragon Religion bit.
  • Dragon mounts are a maybe Yep, Todd confirmed it is an idea they have been playing with here, but not a guarantee as they aren't doing any coding or the like with that (Yet).
  • Dragon Soul, good for eating? Mostly information already found above, but it does have a good piece of info on that we don't know what dragon souls do. The point of consuming dragon souls is unknown it seems. Which is important since there are an infinity of them to deal with.
  • Dragon are people too! So apparently dragons will leave you alone if you don't bother them like a few other things already mentioned.
  • T-Rex! That is basically what I got out of that... The point seems to be that dragons are tough, but it also describes dragons physical features a bit which can be used to reinforce the tid-bits we have on the draconian body. Besides that there really isn't anything that wasn't said above.
  • Speculation, with a bit of info It speculates the purpose that consuming souls may have. Plus a bit of information to reinforce the above facts

Up to you[edit]

The info about the effects of words of power appears twice on the page. I didn't want to delete an entire sentence, and I don't know whether the info is best left in the intro or in the dragon language section anyways. Maybe both is fine, I don't know. Your call, AKB.Minor Edits 20:51, 26 April 2011 (UTC)

I hate the redundacy that that sentence causes, but the previous mention was intended to bring a previous statement into contrast that wouldn't make sense without the mentioning of it, but the secondary mention of it would kind of ruin the whole section, I could probably get rid of the whole section and replace it with a see also section, but I kinda like having that section here as it allows for the page to have a little bit more content. Without a section dedicated solely to the dragon language this page likely won't have enough content to launch. Besides, the above section was more of an intent to explain the dragon's abilities, while the below was an attempt to explain the language itself, so though the sentences are redundant, they serve different functions making them both keep-able in a way. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:02, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
Good answer. Btw, in regards to "words of power", I think I picked it up from here [1]Minor Edits 01:32, 27 April 2011 (UTC)

Latest vid[edit]

The latest E3 vid likely has some info you could add to the page. Some more dragon shouts and a new type of dragon were revealed.
