Hello![edit]

Hello CyberDiva! Welcome to UESPWiki! It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games on the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! •WoahBro►talk 13:34, 29 December 2015 (UTC)

Location in Book Templates[edit]

Hi there, I just wanted to let you know that I've edited the Shalidor's Library page so that it will show the location for every book which is still using the template. I didn't want to revert the hard work you had put into adding some of the other details, so I'll leave it up to you whether you want to return the other books to the template or not. In addition to adding the necessary column, the relevant bit of code which causes the locations to appear is {{#local:showloc|1}}, which I added to the end of the lead section. --Enodoc (talk) 16:03, 1 January 2016 (UTC)

If you can get the blasted thing to show without having to manually code in each location on this page to, pretty please fix it. I tried getting the location coding to work and it wouldn't, so that's the only reason I hard-coded into this page. Thank you! CyberDiva (talk)
OK will do, but it'll be a quick-fix, meaning you would unfortunately need to re-add any of the extra info you've been putting into that page directly on the pages for the books themselves. --Enodoc (talk) 10:14, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Lorebook Locations[edit]

Do we know 100% that the lore books are static? That if I don't have the book and I go to the location listed, I will 100% find the book there? I seem to remember that there were multiple locations per zone where there would be a lorebook present, but which book it was depended on what other lorebooks you had already found in that zone. Jeancey (talk) 02:42, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

The lorebooks appear to be static. In a particular zone each lorebook has between one and four (or maybe five?) fixed places they can appear. I don't think it depends at all what other books have been found, but I'd need to get my PTS up and running again for me to double-check myself. —likelolwhat talk lulzy to me 02:50, 5 January 2016 (UTC)
They are pretty static as far as I have seen. They seem to be set on a table array for each location so that only certain books appear in certain locations. CyberDiva (talk)
There's a pretty good website here which shows which lorebooks appear in which locations. Obviously each location would need to be corroborated, but it's a good starting point. --Enodoc (talk) 10:21, 5 January 2016 (UTC)

Location Format & Authors[edit]

When presenting location information for books, we normaly make a bullet list, with each location getting a separate bullet, like here. Additionally, if there's no author given in-game, we normally omit this parameter, too. There's no need to add "Anonymus" to every book. -- SarthesArai Talk 13:36, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

Yes, I noticed your bullet points. However, it won't place the bullet points for me no matter what I do. I'm sure someone can just add those bullets for me, since it's the location itself that is the important data. Bullet points are such a minor thing, anyway. As for the Anonymous, well, I've been placing it there because it's better than having a blank there and not knowing if there's no author or somebody just don't know who wrote the book. I disagree wholeheartedly with leaving it blank but okay, I won't write "Anonymous" as an author any longer. CyberDiva (talk)

Kari's Hit List - locations[edit]

Hey :) I just want to clarify that the point for hiding the specific location within the link is to give the reader a possibility to do at least a little bit of exploring themselves. And if they do not succeed, the link with the specific inn name is there to help them when they hover over it. With that said I have no idea what is the official practice on UESP regarding spoilers, but I do know that this presentation style is used in some cases. For example on quest pages.. Personally I think it's way more interesting for the reader :)

This is only to clarify why I did my location edits as I did. Keep up the good work on editing that you've done so far! Tib (talk) 14:10, 18 March 2016 (UTC)

Hey no problem, I can understand why you put it that way. It's very rare that the entire spoiler is not revealed to the reader on UESP, though, because it's a resource that is there for you if you cannot find the answer on your own. While I personally like to try to solve clues first myself, at the same time I'm not a genius and having UESP there to give me the answer if I have to look it up is awesome. Keep up the good work yourself! CyberDiva (talk)

The cookie piece[edit]

You have been given a cookie piece!

Your dedication and diligence to the wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a cookie piece because of it. Good work! The user had the following to say:

Thanks for starting with the AD locations to the contracts! :D Now I can rest a little, knowing they still get added, which feels great :) Tib (talk) 10:58, 15 June 2016 (UTC)

Leads[edit]

FYI, We are in the process now of creating a template for leads, and they'll be housed on specific zone pages (i.e. Online:Western Skyrim Antiquities). Just wanted to let you know before you do a ton of work on that specific page. :) Jeancey (talk) 20:44, 2 June 2020 (UTC)

Heya, just wanted to thank you for the heads up.
You might want to put them on the leads page too though, because it's the first place I'd go at least, over any zone page.
I don't usually visit zone pages when I'm looking for things, and I've heard others say the same.
Personally, I prefer looking up specific things like "Antiquities" to find all of the info on them.
Just a thought for you! :)
