questions...[edit]

I was reading under easter eggs and saw a linhk here titled "questions" figured it mey be here for questions. hah. I have many. None of which come to mind at the moment apologize. oh/ one. Is there a forum or the like for random discussions of TES for people on here? I would like to help/ add things on here but am completly new.

Yes, there is a forum and you can find it here. ANd I would be happy to answer those other questions when they come to mind. ESTEC 08:17, 9 January 2012 (UTC)

Dark Brotherhood Archer keeps attacking me[edit]

Hi, you told me to give you some details about my dark brotherhood murder (te archer to be specific) trying to kill me whenever he spawns. i was robbing a house in cheydinhal, and when i got outside i was caught by a guard, who automatically attacked me. my archer tried to help defend me, but was killed quickly. once i had yielded to the guard he walked away and did not say anything abotu the crime i had commited. i then decided to use the staff of worms to re-animate my archers body to use him as a punching bag to raise my hand to hand skill. Ever since then, he spawns every 3 days like normal, but will not accept my yield, even if i use spells on him. (note this is for the xbox 360) so there's the details i'd appreciate any help you can give me

Honestly, I couldn't say why that happens, and it sounds like it could just be one of those weird one-time glitches that the series is known for. Maybe the AI just respawns and doesn't reset to friendly. A similar event happened to me with a Knight of the Nine. Sorry, I can't provide further details on it. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 04:44, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

A question I am curious about[edit]

I noticed that every time I have added pages to a sandbox, any existing trails go back to the Oblivion namespace. It isn't really important, as its just on a userpage, not the actual SR namespace where I pulled it from, but I was just curious. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 20:42, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

It's the standard for any namespace that doesn't normally use trails, it doesn't know where (or if) you've pulled it from so that doesn't enter into it --kiz talkemail 20:53, 17 January 2012 (UTC)
Makes sense, THank you. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 20:54, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

Rename[edit]

Thanks for pointing out that image, but as a note, you can use {{rename}} in the future. It puts it into a more specific category for files that need to be renamed. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:30, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Of course. Sorry, I didn't know about that template. I will begin using it. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:36, 24 January 2012 (UTC)
I wasn't complaining, I was just pointing it out. Nothing to worry about. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 18:49, 24 January 2012 (UTC)

Patroller[edit]

10-0 - you iz wun. I'm sure you've already read the guide, but cast your eye over this anyway. Welcome to the team! rpeh •TCE 20:55, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Will do. Thanks :) ESQuestion?EmailContribs 20:56, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Patrolling Outside Skryim Space[edit]

Hey Eric. I just noticed that you patrolled the recent edits to Oblivion talk:Disease. Just FYI, outside Skyrim space, questions on talk pages should be left unpatrolled unless you can answer the question (see Questions). Of course, in Skyrim space, it's pretty much "patrol anything and everything"...within reason, of course, as mentioned on that same page. Robin Hoodtalk 07:39, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Sorry about that. BloodaxeQuestion?EmailContribs 07:42, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Image Cleanup[edit]

Hey there! I noticed you've added some cleanup tags to some of the images I've uploaded, which is great, because they need it. My resolution I can't do anything about, but what dimensions should the image be? I'd be happy to reupload them with the correct aspect ratio if you could give me a heads up in terms of pixel count. Just to save other people having to do a new image, for now, at least. The Invisible Chocobo 03:59, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Images need to be 4:3. You can find the appropriate information at Help:Images. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 04:02, 5 February 2012 (UTC)
4:3 or 1:1? I know they're not NPC images, but they are essentially the same sort of thing because the main subject is a person. The Oblivion armour screenshots are also 1:1. The Invisible Chocobo 05:46, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Yeah, it varies depending on the subject of the image. 4:3 for everything except NPC's I believe, and 1:1 for NPC's. If you read my archive, I have a list of pointers that were given to me by some senior editors when I first started uploading images. Might help :) ESQuestion?EmailContribs 07:15, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I will read it in the morning, thank you ^_^ The Invisible Chocobo 13:19, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

redlinks, anchors[edit]

Hi, I noticed some redlinks which I wanted to fix, but it involves links using an anchor and possibly a redirect, which I just don't know enough about to do myself. (I tried looking at the Help:Links page in the respective sections, but didn't really get it.) Anyway, this and also this page both have faulty links to 'Lisbet's Dibella Statue' which I believe should link to this table in the appropriate row. Pointing it out you because I'm sure you can fix it, and once you do maybe I can figure it out by viewing your edits to those pages. I'm trying to learn as I go here, so this should help me with that. Thanks. Alphabetface 17:58, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I'll check it out. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:00, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

I have fixed the issue by changing the link to SR:Quest Items#Lisbet's Dibella Statue, which means it looks for the item on that page, rather than finding the nonexistant Lisbet's Dibella Statue page. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 18:07, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Thank you. Maybe now I'll be able to figure it out for any similar situations in the future. I appreciate the help. Alphabetface 18:10, 5 February 2012 (UTC)

Disruption[edit]

If you continue to disrupt the site by repeatedly calling on admins to step down and by adding pointless snarl discussions, I'll block you. Clear? rpeh •TCE 19:03, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

You'll block me because I want to help the wiki? Go ahead. 'Do it! A block would only solidify my case that you are overstepping your boundaries as an admin. I await my block notice. :) ESQuestion?EmailContribs 19:06, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

Drama[edit]

You shouldn't let personal drama affect your contribution here. I've walked away from other wikis over policy conflicts before, but personal conflicts are an inevitability on the internet and running from them solves nothing. Better to keep a cool head. If you think some other wiki is better at its job, then there's little point in contributing here, so by all means, walk away. But if you think the UESP is best suited to helping other players, and you wish to help that effort, then it doesn't make sense to abandon it for some inferior site simply because another editor's conduct may reflect on you in a way you don't like. That will be true no matter where you go. Rpeh has not handled this well, but since all parties apparently recognize he had no authority to represent the UESP on this matter, there's no basis for admonishing him here for off-site conduct. If he was making death threats or something truly egregious, it may be a different story, but here he was merely voicing his objection to what he perceived as ongoing theft. If some of his actions on another site along the way were against that site's rules, it's for that site to worry about. As for his behavior on the UESP, he was not diplomatic, and it was wrong to try and remove your AN conversation himself. It was also wrong for him to threaten you with blocking, but you understood that threat was empty. Even if he had done so, it wouldn't have lasted long. Cutting some slack for admins who become frustrated once in a while over a problem they've been trying to deal with for years is something else you will encounter no matter where you go.

Anyways, I get where you're coming from, I'm just saying, if you want to walk away, do so for good reasons. Minor Edits 21:09, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

I understand what you mean, ME. But, this is the way he has always been. I can link many instances of his shortness and threats towards other members on site, but I won't. I don't know if I will leave this wiki just to join another, I am sure to an extent, they are all the same. I simply stated in my farewell message that I needed a break from editing period. And, wrong as it was, I can see where rpeh comes from... A little. I am just going to take a break from the wiki to play some Skyrim, work on my Oblivion LP, and do some remodeling in my house while I consider how I want to proceed with my involvement with the UESP. If you check my contributions they were steadily declining each day, because of my constant day-to-day work. I am burned out, and after this controversy, I am taking a break to cool off and recover from the burnout. And, if Krusty reads this, I sincerely apologize. I was stressed over rpeh, and I was too quick to pull the trigger on you. You are a great man and a fine editor. Now, I will take my leave for a while. I do hope to return in the future, if things can be resolved. Good luck with the wiki, guys. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 22:03, 6 February 2012 (UTC)
I totally understand why you're taking a break from the wiki, and I hope you enjoy it! I only ask that you return. I've seen a bunch of different wikis, and in my opinion this is the one worth continuing, petty in-fighting aside. This wiki really has a lot going for it, and it wouldn't be that way without the work of people like you. Enjoy your break, but please come back! ?• JATalk 05:12, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Blocking[edit]

Congrats on becoming a blocker! A word to the wise, the toughest thing about blocking is the requirement that an editor should only be blocked for a post-warning offense "after the editor can be reasonably expected to have read the posted warning." This means you may have to reverse one or two edits without taking further action to reasonably ensure that the warning was received. It's annoying because it means you'll be watching the recent changes and hitting F5 for a few minutes.

Also, blockers shouldn't bother to block if an admin is active. I've broken that rule several times; it's not a big deal if you do, it's just that it's more or less pointless since an admin has to change the block settings anyways. Plus, refraining from blocking when an active admin is around will reduce the likelihood that you'll both take action at the same time. There, now you know all I know about blocking, if you didn't already. Good luck! Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 20:40, 21 February 2012 (UTC)

Well...[edit]

I was afraid people were commenting about the brightness of the image. I'm not offended in any way but I was hoping for people to approve my image. I can take a brighter image if you wish. SFK363 20:50, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

We don't need two images of the same thing. That is why we have been removing your image. I linked you a page that said what pages were in need of images. Just read through the two pages I gave you with tips on taking images, pick an article from the pages that actually need an image, and then take some pictures. Practice makes perfect :) ESQuestion?EmailContribs 20:53, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

Can you explain how I got "permanently" banned by the forums for writing 2 appropriate topics? — Unsigned comment by SFK363 (talkcontribs) at 20:22 on 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Sounds like something you'd have to take up with the mods at the forums. Maybe one of these people can help you? eshetalk 19:32, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
I am not in charge of the forums, in fact, I am seldom there, I can't help you. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 19:42, 10 April 2012 (UTC)
You should now be unblocked. Please contact our most active forum administrator, Avron the S'wit, if you still have problems. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 20:22, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Display Title[edit]

By default, DISPLAYTITLE will only let you use a variation that differs either in capitalization or in substituting spaces and underscores. As I recall, you can add additional spaces, but you can't remove any. So "Snowmane" is no good, but "eric SNOWmane" is fine, and maybe (not sure) "Eric sn Ow Man e". It might only be leading and trailing spaces that are allowed, though. Play and you'll figure it out. :) Robin Hoodtalk 05:59, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Cool, I had remembered seeing that on rpeh's page a while ago, and wanted to play with it while I was screwing with my userpage. But, as usual with the formatting things, there are no clear cut directions to be found, so I couldn't get it. lol I'll mess with it in the morning. Thanks, Rob :) ESQuestion?EmailContribs 06:04, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Don't be a victim[edit]

Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life; define yourself. - Harvey Fierstein (The Silencer has spokenTalk 21:29, 20 April 2012 (UTC))

IP User[edit]

The user reverted his own edit immediately, and I added an advice section on his page... is it really necessary to give him a warning? Vely►Talk►Email 00:18, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

I didn't catch that. I hit the first diff, saw the vandalism, did a revert, and posted. My mistake. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 00:20, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Vandalism[edit]

Thanks for reverting the vandalism on my user page. I didn't see it right away. --Xyzzy 00:41, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Actually, funny story: The anon removed it right away, so my revert put it back, so I was actually fixing my own screw up :p ESQuestion?EmailContribs 00:43, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

Code Thief ;)[edit]

Hey, fancy user page you got there! I don't know if I should be embarrassed or amused by the fact that you kept some of my silly tags though :D. eshetalk 14:31, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

Code thief? What are you talking about? It's original. I used your page as a foundation, and I made a bunch of tweaks :D Ah... You should be flattered. I have seen tons of cool pages, but never liked one enough to adapt for myself. And, I did credit you... Read the first tag :D ESQuestion?EmailContribs 16:07, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I did see the tag—I was just teasing you ;). Really, I don't mind at all! I stole some of the code from various Wikipedia user pages myself (I'm decent with CSS, but I can't write it from scratch...at least not like that). eshetalk 16:15, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
It's cool. Jak Atackka got his code from Wikipedia. He actualy showed me a userpage with the tab design before he made it :D ESQuestion?EmailContribs 20:12, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I stole the idea, not the code! There's a big difference. I wrote all the code myself, without looking at theirs. :D
Also, your notice reads strangely. " I am leaving to go out of town, and be on UESP or the IRC for just over a week.". You will or won't be? • JATalk 17:26, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

() You probably need to refresh your page. I caught that typo and corrected it a while ago. ESQuestion?EmailContribs 17:32, 2 May 2012 (UTC)

Undone[edit]

i added a section to the armorer master its now gone wtf ? — Unsigned comment by Renegade 522 (talkcontribs) on 208:03, 7 June 2012

You'd be better off asking the person who removed the content. Almost all bugs can be solved by using the console, so we don't list a full description one each page. The info on how to do things should be on the morrowind console page and is considered enough. The Silencer has spokenTalk 07:28, 7 June 2012 (UTC)

Doubt it's a hard-coded key combination?[edit]

http://paste2.org/p/2056062

Good one :)

Ok, so it exists in the game. Dev shortcuts are still not noteworthy enough to be Easter Eggs. And, I am to assume you are the anon? You're blocked too, for 3 hours, until an admin is online, for the reasons stated in my original block for the IP. ES(talkemail) 11:50, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
I've taken care of the block situation. Just as a reminder, edit summaries are not a sufficient means of discussion, especially when someone's upset over an issue. I appreciate that you all were just trying to edit in good faith, but edit summary discussions often seem to end up baiting users who are less familiar with our policies into violating the three revert rule (not that anyone was trying to do that intentionally, but still). Please take it to a talk page next time, okay? Thanks :) eshetalk 14:01, 19 June 2012 (UTC)
Of course, Eshe. I understand :) ES(talkemail) 14:19, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

Um I want to start a website so I posted basicly a help wanted poster and that got took down and I was messaged to go to the forums but it said I cant post can you help with my forums problem or my tea website I will be grateful

Well, sorry. I don't use the forums. As for it being removed, our site isn't made for advertising other internet projects. I expect you would reach a similar ending there, however, when you get on the forum, send a private message to a forum administrator or moderator about it to talk about it. how do you give people cookies could you be my mentor and how do you take the uesp aholic test[edit]

Just wondering oh and I'm getting a Pc for Christmas this will let me mod (:

The instructions for cookies are here, although, if you want to give me one, that is quite unnecessary. I am just doing my job :) The directions for the test are on the test page. If you plan on being here for a while editing, may I recommend creating an account on the top right corner of the screen? It will take you only a minute or two. It will be much easier to associate you with a name rather than a string of numbers. And, may you sigh your posts with four tildes, like this ~~~~? It leaves behind your IP address and the time you posted, which just makes it easier to keep track of when a post was made. Of course, if you create an account, it would show a name rather than an IP. Ultimately, it is your decision whether you make an account or not, though. Finally, to the mentor request, I will help you with anything you feel like asking, so ask away! :) ES(talkemail) 03:32, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Since you're on right now...[edit]

Since you're online right now, and you've been getting a lot of unsigned edits to your talk page, you seem like a good person to ask. I know that normally, it is improper to edit posts to other user's talk pages. Does this apply to adding unsigned tags to edits? I don't want to step on any toes, and couldn't find any guidance on any etiquette/policy pages. --Xyzzy 03:44, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

Yes, you can mark unsigned user talk edits. Since it was on my own page, I just wasn't in a particular rush to do it myself lol :) ES(talkemail) 03:47, 24 June 2012 (UTC)
Cool. I just got my userpatroller priveleges, and saw a crap-load of unsigned posts to user talk pages from the same anon. Thanks for the info! --Xyzzy 03:52, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

:) One request. May you not post the whole question in the header? Just a brief, couple word summary with the main question in the body of text? It's just a little easier to read :) And, may you please sign with the tildes like I showed you? Thanks. ES(talkemail) 03:51, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

I really am an these are my last 2 questions for the day will you get dawnguard p.s I will because I have xbox and dawnguard comes out soon for it and which oblivion dlc was your favorite mine was shivering isles Whiteninja aka sarah 04:21, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

I will not be getting Dawnguard. I didn't really like Skyrim when I played it, so I won't be playing it again, and I won't get the DLC. At least not for a while. No, I haven't got an Xbox. I use my MacBook pro running a Windows 7 virtual machine in an $80 program called Parallels. As for Oblivion, my favorite DLC was Knights of the Nine. If you want to just sit and talk to me about whatever you want, I am in the IRC room right now. On the IRC page is a link to the channel where we can instant message each other. I am simply Snowmane in there, and I will answer any questions there. It's just easier since you have a lot of questions. And, no need to feel bad or apologize. I haven't had anyone wanting help in a while, so I am happy to have someone to help out :) ES(talkemail) 04:26, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

It should work. Did you try this link? [1] We have users that use it and it works. This link opens the IRC in your browser, so you don't have to download anything. And, no need to apologize or anything about being on the talk page again. That is why I have it. To talk :D ES(talkemail) 05:41, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

give me a link[edit]

I have a plan send me the link

(edit conflict) I don't use a Kindle, so I wouldn't be able to provide tech support on that. Sorry. Oh and if we are talking about the same subject, we don't need a new header each time. The headers are for sorting new topics. We have been on the same few topics for the last several headers. It's no big deal, really. Again, like with signing posts, it just makes it easier to keep everything organized. :) Now, I am getting off for the night to get some sleep. If you have more questions, leave them on this page, and I'll answer in the morning :) ES(talkemail) 06:08, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

hey i have a question[edit]

Um I have a question are the mania and dementia storylines that different ive only done mania Whiteninja aka sarah 23:50, 24 June 2012 (UTC)

They are virtually the same. The only difference is that if you become the Duke/Duchess of Dementia, then you help the Golden Saints with their problems. They are virtually the same, you just help the opposite people. Otherwise, all quests are identical. ES(talkemail) 00:36, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Thank you but do people yell an you for picking well icant explain this so ill graph it.when I did it for mania crucible people yelled at me will bliss people yell at me for picking dementia

hey[edit]

Um should I play through oblivion just for the mages guild Whiteninja aka sarah 03:06, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

If you want to, then you should mages are awesome. However the wiki chat is suppose to be used for wiki buisiness, if you just wish to chat you may want to try the forums. — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 03:12, 25 June 2012 (UTC)
Sarah, I have no problem answering any questions you have, in fact, I would absolutely love to help you learn about the wiki, but I haven't got time to answer questions about personal play through styles. Once in a while is fine, but I haven't got time for every question to be about small things like what guilds should be done, what the difference between split quest lines like Mania and Dementia, etc. Like Kimi said, that is for the Forums. Same with speculation about TES 6 like you posted on Jak's page. Forums. Like I said last night, if you want to just talk about that kind of stuff, we have the forum and the IRC, and I would rather receive these small questions in the IRC. I am in there now if you want to talk. Constantly leaving these small questions fills up the Recent Changes page, and having to stop to patrol my talk page makes it harder to work on the actual content pages. I am willing you teach you whatever you want to know about actual editing, but we need to stop with questions about play through and speculation please. ES(talkemail) 03:23, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Help me help you[edit]

Eric my good man I most ask you a question. Can some average joe like me change the main skyrim pages. I ask simply cause theres an error on the dawnguard main page. The two quests the gift and the hunt are not the to quests after the quest new order. This must not stand any longer. I have put 5000 hours into oblivion 4000 into morrowind and 600 hours into skyrim. I know more lore then anyone. I could write a novel on the lore with atleast 300 pages. So this error is bugging me. You must do something or teach me how to do it before I go insane. — Unsigned comment by Steven Drake (talkcontribs) at 19:08 on 28 June 2012

That page is semi-protected, which means that your account must have existed for at least 4 days, and you have to have done at least 10 edits. Robin Hoodtalk 19:13, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
(edit conflict) What Robin Hood said. Personally, I haven't played Dawnguard, so I wouldn't know the order. I would recommend asking Kimi the Elf. She is the only one I know of that's playing Dawnguard. Her talk page is here. Ask her to verify the order of the quests and correct it. On a different, friendlier, competitive note, I would like to argue that I know more lore than anyone :p ES(talkemail) 19:16, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I have noticed this aswell, I was going to change it but I have not finished their side of the quest yet. I think some of the quests have the same names aswell, so we may have to split them like the civil war quests. I'm leaving it until I know the order of the quests, I will change it once I have finished playing through the Dawnguard's side of the quest. Unless someone else knows them already? — Kimi the Elf (talk | contribs) 19:46, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I'm playing through the Dawnguard side now, but it's slowgoing. Not to worry, Steven Drake, we will get the pages lined out soon. And, as Kimi said, the quests will likely be split like the civil war quests are, which I brought up here for one quest already. ABCface 20:17, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Every revision made to an article is saved, so if a page was blanked or a large section was deleted without justification, you simply go to the history and click "undo" on that last edit, and it would restore the page to the version before that. Not just an admin or patroller thing, anyone can undo an edit. ES(talkemail) 23:09, 28 June 2012 (UTC)
I think this section may do a good job of addressing your concerns, Steven Drake. Also, reading through the links provided in the welcome section on your talk page will help you understand some more details of the site's standards, as they may be different on UESP than some other gaming wikis out there. The most important thing to keep in mind is to assume good faith and take disputes to discussion pages rather than edit warring or name-calling. Trust me, UESP is based on community effort, and would not be what it is without the help from editors such as yourself. So don't get discouraged if that happens, and remember to have fun. We're all here for the same reason— our love of the TES games! :) ABCface 00:59, 29 June 2012 (UTC)

Hey Eric its me again i noticed your going to revamp the snow elfs page. I was wondering if i can help. I made the page and all in lore/info on it. I just dont wanna see all the reasurch i did and work deleted. Of course the main use of this whole site is the quest for elder scrolls knowledge. Its just hard to see something you worked on hard changed and deleted. I dont wanna be cocky but the page wouldnt even have existed if it werent for me. You seem like a nice person so i guess all i am asking is be gentel. Steven Drake

I was not modifying the contents of the page. Just the links. I am just cleaning the grammar, making sure everything is spelled proper, changing all the Morrowind and Oblivion links to Lore links. That kind of thing. Not all that much to do. But, don't worry, I am very particular about the lore, so if anything, all I would do was expand the information more. :) Not a whole lot of use for extra help on this timy project, but if you want to add to the page on my sandbox, that is fine, and when I am satisfied that it is of sufficient quality, I will launch it. If you do help, all non-Skyrim links need to be links to Lore (ex. [[Lore:Dwemer|Dwemer]]) and we don't need every instance of the word linked. Only the first mention of the word needs a link. ES(talkemail) 22:12, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
Of course, if you work with me, left me just point out that I am a bit lazy, so any "real" progress on the page might take time. I created this article, but it took me a few weeks to get that small amount of information, and then over a month to remember I had the page I wanted to release :P ES(talkemail) 22:15, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

thank you, you put my worries to rest. I am so new lol i thought putting as many links as possible was a good thing. I love helping and even though i have been stiring up the pot in only a few days. Sites like these need constructive critisizm and argueing. Its how it learns and grows. This site would be half as good if everything just agreed with eachother. Steven Drake

"Skyrim:Snow Elf" Rewriting[edit]

I would strongly advise against wasting your time fixing Skyrim:Snow Elf. See this discussion. I will try to get around to properly incorporating the new info into Lore:Falmer, so the badly-written Skyrim article will likely be blanked and rewritten. Feel free to debate the matter on the talk page, of course. —Legoless 23:18, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

Thats not your decision the mentor eric snowmane is revamping the snow elf page. It will not be incorporated in the falmer. If thats a problem then take it up with Eric otherwise the info will stay were it is(but it will be changed/modified). Should have said something earlier. And thanks for the badly-writen comment. I love it when people thank me for doing an entire page instead of judgeing it. Steven Drake
The information belongs in Lore. I'm sorry if your work goes to waste, but it doesn't belong on the Skyrim article. I won't be the one making the decision; you can continue the discussion on the talk page if you want to keep the info where it is. —Legoless 23:46, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

I dont think you understand the decision has been made already. I dont see what your going to acopmlish.

He is right, the information is too nonspecific to Skyrim. While I want to clean the incredibly bad grammar before I go crazy looking at it, ultimately, the information has to be moved. Use Shivering:Golden Saint as a base of reference. The information has to be specific to Skyrim or it goes on the lore page. And, you're absolutely right. The decision is made, and we go with policy, like Legoless said. ES(talkemail) 23:53, 30 June 2012 (UTC)

And the policy has it that Eric Snowmane is going to revamp some of the page.

(edit conflict) And, thanks for mentioning this discussion. I had found the article itself through it's content edits in the RC, but never looked at the discussion. In accordance with policy for how the page should look, I am dropping the project. And, Steven, Legoless is one of our admins, being a mentor does not put me above what has to be done. All a mentor really is is somebody who knows enough to want to help our new editors learn policy. I am not, nor while I ever consider (even if I an admin myself), the final arbiter of what has to be done. ES(talkemail) 00:01, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry i didnt realize that cause that his opinion is more important. I know people that like that page and would like it to stay up but i see that its not going to happen i wont defend the poorly grammared snow elf page i made anymore i have a different opinion (along with others)but legoless and whoever has a different opinion so delete my work. next time i do any work i will ask one of my masters their opinion on it before i do because if they think differently then me theres no chance of it being on this site.

There i deleted my work.

(edit conflict) Legoless's opinion is no more important than your opinion is. We are a community, and we just have rules. And, don't worry. My work got reverted when I was a new editor. We strive to be the best Elder Scrolls site on the wiki, so with that comes with higher standards for work. All you need is a little patience and hard work to get a presentable piece. You don't need to be discouraged, just strive to be the best you can be and your work will be rewarded. :) ES(talkemail) 00:17, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I can smell bull real fast and i can tell you why for 2 reasons. My work was not rewarded it was told it was bad and would not stand(which was my best) .my Enlish perfessor liked it. I do not know where you live but in canada and america peoples opinions are more important then other canadian and americans. Anyone who tells you different when you come here is lieing. Any intelligent person form these countries will tell you the exact same thing i am. Our poor barly have a voice and everyone listens to the rich. Plz tell me which country your from so i can move there.

I live in Michigan, USA. And, where we live is irrelevant. I speak to Irish people, Canadians, Brits, Mexicans, and a Belgian and Dutch guy to name a few. What country we come from is irrelevant. We come here as friends and get along because of our mutual love of The Elder Scrolls. And, nobody ever said your work was bad, we just want to place that information in a more appropriate Lore article. And, I never said you would be rewarded immediately. Like I said, every new person makes mistakes. It just takes practice and patience to get better, and for all we know, a few months from now you could be one of our top writers, for all we know. :) ES(talkemail) 00:42, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

I noticed you didnt say anything about peoples opinions being more important. Well at least your not a fony or a liar. The snow elfs have there own culture, religion, history, looks i can go on forever. How does putting it on a page with a blind mutated slaver version that cant even speak enligsh(Snow elfs do) make any sence. And if i need to remind you imperials used to be speices. How come their not on their page?why does a mutated speices and the species it mutated from have a different page but the one i made cant have one. Awnser me these questions. Not stupid awnsers logical awnsers. Then i will understand. If you cant give a good awnser to my question then aoplogize and let me remake the page. without it being judged by yourself or the others who are against me in this convo. Steven Drake

You're completely missing the point. The article has "Skyrim:" before it, instead of "Lore:". "Lore:" articles have a higher standard of writing which the article doesn't meet. This isn't an argument about whether or not the Falmer and Snow Elves need a separate page. —Legoless 01:02, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry master i misunderstud Steven Drake

(edit conflict) Here are the answers you want, and I hope I have answered them in a way that makes sense.
  1. The Snow Elves do indeed have their own culture, and they are the same as the Falmer. It was just how they live. The Lore page for the Snow Elf/Falmer exists to cover all aspects of their existence. Look at Lore:Khajiit, for example. There are many varieties and cultures to them, but that still makes them as a whole, one race, so it seems only logical that they should share a page that distinguishes between their different lifestyles/conditions.
  2. The Imperials are their own race of man, and their page is at Lore:Imperial.
  3. As for the last question about mutated species, I am not sure that I understand the question, may you rephrase it for me?
I assure you, I am entirely genuine, and I am willing to sit and talk to you about the page. I am a mentor for that reason. I enjoy being able to discuss things like this with other users, and I want to be able to teach you and other users something about how the wiki works. :) Now, if you want to talk to me in real time, join the IRC, and talk to me. There is a link on the page to a client that works in your browser and doesn't take any downloading. ES(talkemail) 01:12, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

No point on telling you. It will just lead back to the lore thing. Anyway its dont my work is gone. Someone else will have to put the info in the falmer page. In their own works. My work will never see the page. And i wll go on to better this site, argueing, making people thing, and pissing off my masters. Thanks eric i really mean that. You were seriously the only who put a positive spin on this. Without saying stupid things like all opinions on this site are equal. Or other things like that. I hope we cross paths again.Thank you Steven Drake

I am glad to have helped, but arguing is only good when it is constructive, and "pissing off [the] masters" isn't a good idea. If you go making personal attacks or deliberately go stirring up trouble, then even I would have to block you in accordance with policy, which I don't like doing to our productive members. ES(talkemail) 01:28, 1 July 2012 (UTC)

Hey need help[edit]

I'm sorry that this isn't about any elder scroll game, but I need help becoming a patroller. I can't find a way to contribute to the site, because all of the topics on the task list are completed. I really want to help out in any way I can,as long as it isn't in a MIME file because my toutchpad can't open them. If you find a way please post it on my discussion page. Thank you--LOKI 23:11, 5 July 2012 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response, but there are plenty of things you can do to help the site. Watching the Recent Changes for spam posters is enormously helpful and you can just click through the Random Page button on the side bar, read through the pages, and if there are any grammatical errors, then fix them. Plenty of busy work to do :) ES(talkemail) 18:20, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Why did you undo it?[edit]

Why did you erase the information I put on the Morrowind:The Drunken Bounty Hunter page? I have just finished that quest, so the information I put on is 100% correct. Please respond. --Emitewiki2 20:59, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

It doesn't warrant a section specifically titled "Game of the Year". Notes perhaps, on "...Cannot finish the quest right away." The rest, I believe, although I am uncertain as I haven't played Morrowind in a few months, are things that I believe are true to both versions. If you care to re-add it, I would suggest formatting it like this:
  • Note 1
  • Note 2
  • Note 3
  • etc.

And, in my opinion for the first one at least. At the end of the note add {{VN}} to it, please, which stands for Verification Needed. Not that I am suggesting you're lying to me, but that note, if it is indeed true, is important enough to be verified. Thanks. Snowmane(talkemail) 21:07, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

Actually, if you look here, the double cross note is mentioned already, and it would be pointless to re-add that. Snowmane(talkemail) 21:25, 4 August 2012 (UTC)

I thought I did do that[edit]

I thought I did make it one word. Oh well. Thanks for the welcome. =P --Arrow 06:45, 10 August 2012 (UTC)

Poor guy can't catch a break...[edit]

In regards to the edit you reverted here, I take some responsibility for that given that I told the user to do this rather than try and squeeze all of the information onto Morrowind:Restocking Alchemy Merchants. I think that it could be somewhat useful information - good way to train Alchemy or whatnot. It's not exactly vital or anything, I was just offering a more reasonable alternative since having it all on one page made that page look terrible. I'd say if this person wants to do all the work on this, we should let them, though maybe come up with some better way of formatting it. --TheRealLurlock Talk 12:29, 23 August 2012 (UTC)

Thanks :)[edit]

Thanks for dealing with Mslavina about the conflict over adding unofficial mod information to pages. I was going to redirect them towards a page explaining why we don't necessarily put unofficial mod info onto pages, but I saw you already dealt to them swiftly, and for that I thank you :) Helenaannevalentine 04:30, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

No problem. :) ES(talkemail) 04:33, 28 August 2012 (UTC)

Hey...[edit]

I'm not saying someone needs to write a dissertation on why he/she disagrees with something for it to be valid. I'm just saying that it sounds more like a carefully considered response than a flat rejection if a position is explained, especially when there does appear to be merit to a suggestion. Since the most recent of the replies you linked to on Skyrimplayer's page, I've been making an effort to moderate my own tone due to several prompts from other editors (one of which was from you, if I recall), so maybe you could afford to give me the benefit of the doubt here? Assume good faith and all that? I would really appreciate it. ThuumofReason 00:33, 30 August 2012 (UTC)

Happy Wiki Birthday![edit]

I just saw your edit summary on your own userpage and saw that it's your one year Wiki birthday! Just wanted to wish you a biiiig congrats on sticking around for so long ;) Oh and for your dedication to the wiki, I suppose in all fairness you deserve...

Thanks, but you're spoiling me. I don't need any cookies or anything. Just another day in the neighborhood :) ES(talkemail) 06:41, 1 September 2012 (UTC)
Wait...we all get two birthdays now? A wiki birthday and a real birthday? I hope nobody joins on their birthday, then! ;) Happy wiki-birthday, ES! Robin Hoodtalk 20:50, 1 September 2012 (UTC)

Re:Greetings from UESP[edit]

Timeoin is not available right now, but I'm one of the admins mainly dealing with the Hearthfire content for the wikia. I see the page and the markup in source mode does looks like a copy/paste form somewhere. The user in question seems to have made this page on his own accord, as I have been dealing with the crafting table data for the add-on and this is not the correct format. The page will be likely be deleted anyway.

However it should be noted that most of the data we have for crafting, I personally added myself from playing the game. My sandbox had been constantly updated the second the add-on was out. Most of what this user added is duplicate information that was already on the respective pages. I don't want anyone to think the format that you have on Skyrim:Construction has been copied.

Thanks for letting me know, though.

Can't upload[edit]

Hello, recently I uploaded some new images, but now when I try to upload again I get an error message that says "The file you uploaded seems to be empty. This might be due to a typo in the filename. Please check whether you really want to upload this file.". Is there a reason for that? I know my files are correctly named and are not empty and they are not large either. None of them are even 1MB. Could you help me out? Thank you. — KunvuloninKünvülänin 00:48, 8 September 2012 (EDT)

To be honest, I don't do a lot of image uploads, and when I have, I haven't had the issue. What kind of error in the name does it possibly mean? I tried uploading a .png image with a .jpg extension and got an error. Is it something like that? Otherwise, I am afraid I can't be of much help. Perhaps my go-to guy RobinHood70 (talk) will have an idea if it's not related to the one mistake I've ever made haha. He's been here for years. He'd probably have a better answer than me. Snowmane(talkemail) 00:56, 8 September 2012 (EDT)
I have no idea what part of the name the uploader-thing doesn't like. I'm using the naming convention that I've seen other people use, and it was working earlier. Very strange. Well, thanks for trying to help. I will send a message to your friend and see what he says. — KunvuloninKünvülänin 01:05, 8 September 2012 (EDT)

These letters are also found in "The lost knife hideout"... Please add it to the locations. — Unsigned comment by 49.202.0.57 (talk) at 09:39 on 29 December 2012‎

To be honest, I don't know if I should. It says it's random clutter. I don't know what that means. Was it found in a chest or out in the open? I think the locations say what is out in the open (although don't quote me on that). I would rather leave that to someone else who knows what's going on. Snowmane(talkemail) 19:11, 29 December 2012 (GMT)
There are 15 places where The Windhelm Letters are guaranteed to be found (some locations have 2, which is why only 13 are listed), but Lost Knife Hideout isn't one of them. As Eric suspected, Lost Knife Hideout is full of random books, and you just happened to find one there randomly. Robin Hood  (talk) 03:05, 30 December 2012 (GMT)
