Welcome[edit]

Hello Eddie! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you, on the other hand, would like to spice up your userpage, take a look at this link:

  • Userboxes: near complete list of userboxes, including a guide to make your own

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox and don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors if you need any help. Have fun! --Wizy (Talk/Contribs) 03:39, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

A reminder[edit]

You don't sign your posts at talk pages. To sign your posts, use 4 tildes (~~~~). It makes easier to understand who wrote the post. Thanks! --Rigas Papadopoulos • TalkDeeds 10:38, 9 January 2011 (UTC)

Once again, please sign your talk page posts! Oh, and edits like this are not really necessary. --Krusty 17:02, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Questions[edit]

Instead of always asking questions like this, why not try it yourself and let us know what happens? It's a far more productive way of finding things out. rpeh •TCE 11:44, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

you should really have more links if someone is searching for items say lights they look under items only to waste there time because ya'll do not have a link to all shops with them for sale. For example im looking fore the expensive plates an cups to decorate my tower and i want alot of blue lamps to make it glow blue i would prefer red but i cant find them at all 98.198.148.59 blank
sorry but i have no idea if anyone actually sells the blue lights, ive only ever found them in peoples houses and all (From Fear to Eternity- Eddie The Head 07:55, 13 September 2011 (UTC))

Numerous edits etc[edit]

I've seen you've had some difficulties with creating links in particular, causing you to make numerous edits. I would have to ask you to use the show preview button until you've reached the desired effect, THEN save the page. Also, the best advice I can give you is: check how the other pages did it. For the infobox on your NPC in your sandbox, perhaps the easiest thing to do is copy an actual NPC's infobox and then just change the info in it. Finally, the links you've created work fine, but they are usually used for links to other sites. Instead of "My first sandbox" you can just do this "My first sandbox". Good luck editing the site. ~ Dwarfmp 12:36, 2 May 2011 (UTC)

Vampire Lore Articles[edit]

Hey! I reverted your edits to the Vampire Lore articles because we generally do cover quests with major outcomes; in this case, each clan was exterminated. Just thought I'd let you know the details on why I reverted them! Thanks.--Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 08:04, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

ok its just that you didnt have to actually do any of the quests you could just cure the disease or not get it at all but i understand (Eddie the head 08:06, 26 June 2011 (UTC))
It's no problem, really. It's one of the many unwritten guidelines of the Lore namespace. Lore is quite another animal compared to other namespaces :D Kalis AgeaYes? Contrib E-mail 08:13, 26 June 2011 (UTC)

Alduin name renewal[edit]

didn't it belong there because it is a dragon name or in lore? Ziguildmaster 04:31, 7 August 2011 (UTC)

Bestiary[edit]

That's not the way it's going to happen. See Oblivion:Creatures - that's the way creatures will be handled for Skyrim too. rpeh •TCE 11:28, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

ok (I plead LazynessEddie The Head 11:29, 2 October 2011 (UTC))
That made me think: can we be sure there's going to be just npc's and creatures? I mean, it may be done differently, who knows ~ Dwarfmp 13:34, 2 October 2011 (UTC)
well what else could there be? (I plead LazynessEddie The Head 13:42, 2 October 2011 (UTC))
They can be further divided this time around, like undead being a seperate kind for instance. Probably a bad example, but they may be different from other creatures because of some kind of 'function'. Though that seems very unlikely, we can't be sure ~ Dwarfmp 14:14, 2 October 2011 (UTC)

About Jagar Tharn speeches[edit]

If you go to the Arena folder on your computer and drop the file JAGTEMP.DAT onto Notepad you will see some messages that come to the player. I have taken these from that file and they may be what you are looking for. If not try doing the same with TEMPLATE.DAT.

PC has 1st piece of the Staff in possession: I do not know who you are, but you have made a fatal mistake. I have sent my minions, ones worthy of the attention you deserve, to relieve you of the burden of the Staff piece you now hold. Give it to them and I will order your death painless and quick. Resist and I shall see you in such suffering that you will grovel for the sweet release of death...&

PC has 2nd piece of the Staff in possession: You have survived the Labyrinthian, a place most dire. Continue along this path however and you will face such things as to make your very heart freeze. I will save you the ordeal for my servants approach you even now. From your managled corpse I will take what is mine...&

PC has 3rd piece of the Staff in possession: Why do you choose to align against me when it is obvious that I will destroy you. Even as each piece of the Staff comes into your possession it becomes easier to find you, and I have done just that. Face my creatures, if you dare. I am through toying with you...&

PC has 4th piece of the Staff in possession: It is obvious, whoever you are, that you are a cunning and worthy foe. I will not insult your intelligence with further digression. My minions soon approach, but I will not consign you to the dark door of Death. You have proven your worth. Once you are killed, I will raise you to fight for me, as one servants. Give in to me now and I offer you everlasting life...&

PC has 5th piece of the Staff in possession: I have underestimated you, that is clear. You have not only defeated the useless creatures I have sent against you, but managed to survive the Crystal Tower, a feat that in and of itself could be legend. It is sad that I am forced to destroy you. Prepare, for my minions arrive...&

PC has 6th piece of the Staff in possession: You have rejected my offer of everlasting life, and defeated the Crypt of Hearts. Your list of accomplishments grow. You will not however, accomplish the forging of the Staff. My forces are inexhaustible, and you will succumb. Prepare, for my servants arrive...&

PC has 7th piece of the Staff in possession: You amaze me with your tenacity. It boots nothing to avoid my snares, for this game is at an end. The final piece of the Staff is in Dagoth-Ur, in the province of Morrowind. The information is useless to you, for none know the entrance to the volcano, and even if you survive the creatures I have sent against you now, you will not survive its depths. I bid you farewell, %pcf. You have been a most worthy opponent...&

PC has 8th piece of the Staff in possession: I congratulate you on your success. Have you discovered however, what I have known all along? The Staff is drained of all magical potential. I did it myself before scattering the pieces across the realm. It is a useless stick, good for churning butter or rowing a boat, but not for saving the Emperor. Come find me if you dare, and I will relieve you of any further burdens you may think to face. My legions await...&

Signature[edit]

Sig bug.jpg

Just wanted to point out a minor bug with your signature I noticed on my work computer. I like to scan the site at work since it's at a much different resolution than my home computer. Anyway, not sure why, but the "Head" part of your signature is pushed off into the left margin... perhaps someone else will know why. --GKtalk2me 20:07, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

The source of the problem is the "left: -68px", which is saying that the text should start 68px to the left of where it "normally" would be displayed -- meaning it gets pushed into the margin. The CSS being used to display the text are somewhat of a kludge, but at this moment I can't easily research alternatives. --NepheleTalk 20:20, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
OK, I lied (or rather, I had nothing better to do while sitting around bored in an airport) -- I think I've come up with some better CSS:
<small style="white-space:nowrap">I plead Lazyness[[User:Eddie the head|<font color="Blue">Eddie The Head</font>]]</small>

thanks, it seems to mash together if its not indented, as my laptop is broken and i only get a chance to get on the UESP at school and my mum occaisionally lets me use her laptop, im just going to revert to the basic signature untill i can get a new laptop, is there a template i put on my page for a semi-active user? Dash[edit]

Actually, grammatically, a dash is different from a hyphen. A hyphen is used to join two parts of a compound word, while a dash is used to separate two parts of a sentence. Since a dash is not included as a key on a common keyboard, the traditional way to symbolize it is with two hyphens. The actual dash, if it can be included, is the correct way to do it. --Brf 12:53, 29 November 2011 (UTC)

ok, ill do my best to remember that thanks, might get me some extra marks in english class, and ill be sure to use it on the wiki when a dash is nessecary. (Eddie The Head 12:56, 29 November 2011 (UTC))

I like your minor character edits[edit]

Noticed a few of the minor characters have some update by you and they're all very good writing - make me feel like this no-dialogue npc actually has a personality ;) Themendios 06:05, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Patrolling?[edit]

A lot of people are throwing their hats into the ring right now to be Patrollers, and I was wondering if you'd given it any thought. You've obviously met the minimum qualifications. I not totally familiar with your entire history on the site, but patrolling your edits is, in my experience thus far, a complete waste of time, and that seems to be the litmus test. Minor Edits 07:42, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

well i havn't really thought about it much, i guess i will apply (Eddie The Head 09:52, 5 January 2012 (UTC))

Profanity[edit]

Just FYI, profanity isn't something we automatically remove on UESP. There have been various discussions about it over the years, often with fairly inconclusive results, but our vandalism policy as it stands now basically says it's not something you should feel the need to remove, but at the same time, I'd interpret it as saying not to reinstate it, either, unless it's the OP who's complaining about the alteration. (See "Altering comments" section.) So in the end, it's really your call whether it gets removed or not, I just wanted to let you know that it's not something we deem absolutely necessary. Robin Hoodtalk 22:13, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

ok ill remember that (Eddie The Head 02:26, 6 January 2012 (UTC))
If you're not still watching Jak Atackka's talk page, you might wanna go check it out. I explained this better there this time around, I think. :) I don't want you to feel you can't remove profanity, cuz sometimes it really should be! Robin Hoodtalk 23:39, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

Image Links[edit]

I just wanted to let you know, if you didn't already, that you can link to an image without embedding it using the syntax [[:File:SR-creature-Skeever.jpg]], instead of having a not-link with <nowiki>[[File:SR-creature-Skeever.jpg‎]]</nowiki>. Happy Editing! --timrem 14:27, 20 January 2012 (UTC)

I knew there was a way, i just couldn't figure out what it was, thanks, I'll do my best to remember that for the next time i need to link a image. (Eddie The Head 14:29, 20 January 2012 (UTC))

UESPholic Test Results[edit]

I noticed that you took the above test. After seeing the userbox on your page, I decided to make one myself, complete with different images for differing levels of UESPholism. If you want to use the template, use this: {{UESPholic Test Results}}. ?• JATalk 23:57, 23 January 2012 (UTC)

Thanks, it's a good userbox I just added it to my page now. (Eddie The Head 00:41, 24 January 2012 (UTC))

Rename image[edit]

Hi there, I'd appreciate it if you could rename the image located here http://www.uesp.net/wiki/File:Sond.jpg to SR-npc-Sond(Child).jpg.? Cheers. (Riveon 18:30, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

I've just done this (sorry eddie if I jumped in unwanted) but i'm currently renaming them (starting too) so I thought i'd start with this one, just a note to say anything with a {{Rename}} tag on will eventually be renamed as it is added to the relevant category. --kiz talkemail 20:05, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
Ok thanks. I'll remember that in future. (Riveon 23:43, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
It's alright Kiz, I was asleep at the time anyway. (Eddie The Head 04:39, 31 January 2012 (UTC))

The Dark Brotherhood redirect[edit]

Sorry about blanking the page, I was trying to delete the redirect. "The Dark Brotherhood" should show the search page, or a disambiguation page, rather than immediately redirecting to the Skyrim:Factions page. -BrknSoul 10:50, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I see what you mean, I changed the redirect to the Dark Brotherhood page as that is what most people will want when searching the dark brotherhood (Eddie The Head 10:53, 7 February 2012 (UTC))
The problem is, there are also Lore, Oblivion, Morrowind, Tribunal and Daggerfall DB pages. For example, searching for "Thieves Guild" brings up the search page for that subject. This should be the same for all factions. -BrknSoul 11:02, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
If you use the "go" search function while searching say the thieves guild, if you are not currently on a games namespace (so you're on a user page for example) you will recieve a bunch of search results, however if you are on a morrrowind page when you search it, it will take you directly to Morrowind:Thieves Guild same goes if you search "the thieves guild" on a morrowind page or oblivion page so its only logical for Skyrim:The Dark Brotherhood to exist as a redirect. (Eddie The Head 11:10, 7 February 2012 (UTC))
Using the "go" search function while at the main page should match the results of search for just "dark brotherhood" (no 'the'). Try searching for "Dark Brotherhood" and "The Dark Brotherhood" from the main page. -BrknSoul 11:20, 7 February 2012 (UTC)
Ok, I actually see what you mean this time, whilst searching "the dark brotherhood" in oblivions namespace will take you to Oblivion:Dark Brotherhood there isn't actually a page titled "Oblivion:The Dark Brotherhood" or any in the other namespaces, except for skyrim meaning the wiki will take you to Skyrim:The Dark Brotherhood as it is only page with the title "The Dark Brotherhood". I am going to propose its deletion (Eddie The Head 11:29, 7 February 2012 (UTC))
Ok, you beat me to it, I added a link to this discussion to the deletion proposal (Eddie The Head 11:31, 7 February 2012 (UTC))
Cool. Thanks for sticking with me while I clumsily made my point :-P. I actually first noticed this when trying to pull up the Lore page of the Dark Brotherhood, silly me should've known not to put a "the" in the search box. -BrknSoul 11:35, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Warning OK?[edit]

Hi. I think we tried to do this at the same time: [1]. I then did this, which was the first time I issued a warning (can you imagine the rush of power I experienced?).

Can you tell me if I did it "correctly?" Have I seen another message that says something like "if you received this message in error..."? I'm not really sure I have any business issuing warnings yet, but I guessed it looked straightforward enough. Thanks. --JRTalk E-mail 04:21, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

That's perfect, JR. Robin Hoodtalk 04:52, 13 February 2012 (UTC)
Yep, like RobinHood said, thats perfect. The message in error you're thinking of would be this or one of the other ones like this where the new messages box was showing for other users. I think that problems over now though. (Eddie The Head 07:38, 13 February 2012 (UTC))

Howdiddeedodat?[edit]

Greetings and salutations, sir. I noticed the other day that when a new page was created, you marked it as patrolled, and I'm just wondering... how? I though new pages were just stuck with an exclamation mark until they fell off the queue. Does it matter that it was a user page? Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 21:11, 9 March 2012 (UTC)

Notice the "Marked as Patrolled" button in the bottom right corner when you follow that link. You can't patrol the first edit to the page without following a special link, which is thankfully linked when you visit the page through recent changes. --AKB Talk Cont Mail 21:15, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
Brilliant! Thank you, sir. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 21:18, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
It's funny because another Patroller just asked me this the other day on my talk page and I said it's probably the most frequently asked question new Patrollers have. I'm beginning to think we might want to create a "Welcome" message for new Patrollers/User Patrollers and put "how to patrol new pages" in a coloured, blinky banner at the top or something. ;) Robin Hoodtalk 23:57, 9 March 2012 (UTC)
You know, I almost said something earlier about putting this on the Patrolling Guidelines page, with the addition of the information on how to patrol new pages, but decided against it since users interested in the information are probably new patrollers themselves (whether Userspace or Recent Changes), and thus experienced enough to find the information on their own— even if that just means asking someone who knows. However, given a few recent posts across the site in the last few days (me asking this question on RH's talk page, RH saying many patrollers ask the same, ME asking the same thing here, and a UP not understanding the patrolling process a month after having the position), maybe this welcome message RH just suggested should actually be implemented. It could either be the 'patrolling tips' discussion edited into a professional, encyclopedic format (with the addition of how to patrol new pages) and added to the Patrolling Guidelines page, or a message posted to the users page when they first become a patroller (similar to our standard welcome message for new users, but relevant to this topic). Is this a dumb idea? Alphabetface 00:20, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Seems like a good idea to add it to the page, especially since there is a new pages section on the page, it just has nothing in it. I went and drafted it below

When a new page is created, there will not be a difference link in the recent changes, instead just click the page link and down in the bottom right corner will be a "Mark as Patrolled" button.

  • If a user is creating their userpage, it can usually be patrolled on sight, with the following exceptions:
    • If the page is created for Spam a {{Speedydeletion}} tag should be added.
    • If the page content is inappropriate (swearing, adult content, etc.), the user should be asked to change it, and if particularly offensive, it can either be blanked in the mean time or have a {{Speedydeletion}} tag added.
  • If a user makes a page that won't really belong in the space, if it seems like they would want to keep the contents move the page to their userspace (A sandbox under their username) then put a {{Proposeddeletion}} tag on the original page.
(Eddie The Head 04:04, 10 March 2012 (UTC))
That looks good to me, except maybe "down in the bottom right corner"? Also, would it make sense to make the patroller tips section a real section— by rewording the information in a more professional, encyclopedic way and placing it on the page— rather than just linking to an archived discussion? Alphabetface 04:16, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Alright, I added in to the draft, I'm not to sure about the tips section, it would make sense to make it a section but personally I was fine with reading the archive (though mouse gestures doesn't work on my version of firefox..) (Eddie The Head 04:37, 10 March 2012 (UTC))
Yeah, I found it there easily enough when I looked for the information, but I just figured it would be more professional to have something other than a link to an archived discussion. It's not a big deal, I'm sure most new patrollers (and probably most new userpatrollers) are experienced enough to find that information on their own if they want to. Alphabetface 05:08, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Rather than making Eddie change his own post based on my suggestion, I've just taken liberties and added my suggestion there. Feel free to shorten the wording..."succinct" just isn't my thing. :) Robin Hoodtalk 06:27, 10 March 2012 (UTC)
Hopefully I wasn't jumping the gun, but I'd already put it onto the patrollers page, I'll just update it with your suggestions, thanks for the "tl2" I always wondered how people linked templates. (Eddie The Head 06:34, 10 March 2012 (UTC))

() Sorry, no, that was me being behind the times. I swear my Watchlist is longer than Recent Changes some days! Robin Hoodtalk 07:15, 10 March 2012 (UTC)

Unfinished Quests[edit]

Hey, I saw that you were the one that made the Skyrim:Unfinished Quests page, so I figured I'd direct this question to you. I just happened across this quest page and I was wondering if it actually belongs on the Unfinished Quest page. There was a couple discussions about it on the talk page, but they died months ago, so could you possibly look into this? ABCface 04:44, 4 April 2012 (UTC)

Well, to me it looks like they originally intended to have it as a separate quest, but then they decided to just make it one of the quests in the radiant quest Some Light Theft, but that's just what I think and I'm unsure whether that would make it an unfinished quest. I did a Google search on Lod's Lot, the only results I got was the UESP, a empty page on skyrimming.com, and a page on a chinese wiki called the Elder Scrolls Database, which detailed the part of Some Light Theft. Dunno what to do about it though. (Eddie The Head 09:19, 4 April 2012 (UTC))
Well, looking at the 'Quest Stages' for Lod's Lot, it seems to involve the NPC Kust rather than Dengeir of Stuhn and also deals with a book rather than a letter, so while it may be related to the Some Light Theft quest in some way, it doesn't seem like it was meant to be the same quest. That's just my opinion, though. It seems pointless to me to leave a blank page up for a quest which doesn't seem to exist in normal gameplay, at least as its own page. That's the only reason I thought maybe it would fit better on the Unfinished Quests page. ABCface 20:40, 4 April 2012 (UTC)
I didn't notice the difference in people, I guess that makes the quest a little bit more different than I thought. You're right that it's better to document it on the Unfinished Quests page than to just leave it on a empty page, I'll add it on. (Eddie The Head 09:13, 5 April 2012 (UTC))
