HEY you[edit]

Since youre the only one to greet me so far, do you have anything I can help with on the site, I'm eager to get started — Unsigned comment by The Sneakiest Kajiit (talkcontribs)

Hi there! Our task list contains a list of things that need to be done on the site, if you'd like to look at that. You may want to check out some of the help pages first, just to get an idea of how things work around here. Let me know if you have any other questions! –Eshetalk00:35, 2 March 2008 (EST)
How do you make your signature appear?— Unsigned comment by The Sneakiest Kajiit (talkcontribs)
Four tildes ~~~~ will do the trick. There's also a button above the editing box (second from the right) that will do it for you ;). –Eshetalk02:01, 2 March 2008 (EST)
Oh and you deleted my little addition to Rockmilk Cave, Pumpkin is a Grand soul, wether intended to be a joke or just an oversight by BethesdaThe Sneakiest Kajiit 02:05, 2 March 2008 (EST)
I know--I gave the reason for removing the comment in my edit summary. Pumpkin is marked as having a leveled soul, plus his presence in the cave is already mentioned a little further down the page. –Eshetalk02:14, 2 March 2008 (EST)
Whatever you say, all I know is that I accidentally attacked it with a soultrap/destroy spell and I filled a black soul gem (grand soul) - The Sneakiest Kajiit 02:17, 2 March 2008 (EST)
Yep. You must have been level 18 or above, then, since that's how the leveling works ;). –Eshetalk02:20, 2 March 2008 (EST)
AHAHAH THATS why you're a patroller *virtual high five*. Oh and I noticed that Hatreds Soul seems to have an incorrect power recorded at least for level 19(I think mine said 18 when the Wiki says 24)-you might want to check it out, I feel a little incompetent to do it myself... - The Sneakiest Kajiit 02:27, 2 March 2008 (EST)

(Outdent) Hmm...well I just checked the Construction Set and the data looks fine to me...–Eshetalk02:34, 2 March 2008 (EST)

Booting 360 up...Yeah 5146 coins, 12 featherweight, 18 attack power, 99 durability, Fire damage 35 1 sec, Drain Speed 30 45 sec, charge 4170/4800, Uses 13. I would assume that Hatreds Heart is also mis-leveled but Im in Dark Fissure inner sacntum and im a blade kind of Kajiit :-) - Oh and I'm sure I didn't get it at a lower level
A:The enchantment power
B:I've never even been into an oblivion plane untill 17(tran sigils) so it would be at least, what? 22 I think it said
Hope this gets resolved without some unlucky guy going through all those planes of oblivion :-)
The Sneakiest Kajiit 02:51, 2 March 2008 (EST)
That just means that your Marksman skill and/or Agility are less than 100. The damage done by every weapon on the game is adjusted based on your skills and attributes. The values listed on the site are always the base damage values. The information on how base damage is related to your in-game damage is provided in many places, for example Oblivion:The Complete Damage Formula. No real mystery here. --NepheleTalk 02:55, 2 March 2008 (EST)
Ohh I didn't think about that, I thought that only applied to Armor effectivness, you guys are good... - The Sneakiest Kajiit 02:57, 2 March 2008 (EST)

Donate?[edit]

Thank you for the welcome message. Although I doubt I am technically savvy enough to contribute to the pages themselves, I would like to inquire about making a financial contribution towards hosting fee's and site maintenance. I would very much like to positively contribute to this site since it has been such a great help to me over the months. Since I doubt I can be of any help on the technical side, I was hoping to contribute in another way. — Unsigned comment by MOMOwheeler (talkcontribs)

Well, that's really nice of you, but I'm not the person you'd need to talk to about that. You'll want to get in touch with Daveh, the site's host.
And trust me, it doesn't take long to learn the basics around here! So if you do change your mind about doing some editing, please feel free! –Eshetalk17:08, 3 March 2008 (EST)

Abstaining Monkey[edit]

Eshe, since this is the first nomination that I'm sitting out, I wanted to let you know that it has nothing to do with you. I'm just not active enough as an admin/editor these days to form a good evaluation of any new candidates. But... Good luck! --Wrye 17:55, 4 March 2008 (EST)

Thanks Wrye :) –Eshetalk20:44, 4 March 2008 (EST)

My messages[edit]

I have been sent several messages that are confusing, the first mentions me deleting an entire page which I have not done and the others seem to indicate that I have been blocked from editing when I have not been blocked nor done anything which could cause me to be blocked (I have edited a page for the first ever time today and it was not spam nor can be considered such in any way). Can you help me understand what is going on?

Unfortunately, this sort of thing is bound to happen when we get editors who have dynamic IPs or who use public computers. It looks like several IPs similar to yours have been used for nonsense or vandalism in the past, though the one you used to post here has never received a warning or a block. The best thing for you to do would be to create an account. As long as you're logged into an account, the blocks in place on those IP addresses should not be a problem for you. Let me know if you have any other questions! –Eshetalk16:05, 5 March 2008 (EST)
I just checked, and there doesn't seem to be a block on the IP you used. The fact that you were able to post here is proof that you are indeed not blocked on this IP. (Blocked IPs can only post on their own talk page.) It's possible that another IP you were trying to use was blocked - as Eshe said, IPs on some computers can change on a regular basis, and some may be used by other people who caused them to be blocked, but the one you used to post this message has never been blocked. I'd repeat Eshe's advice about creating an account. Once you have one, your IP doesn't matter any more so long as you are logged in. Additionally, an account makes you more anonymous, not less, because whenever you post from an IP, your IP is logged and visible to anyone on the site, but with an account, only admins can see your IP. (And we only check them occasionally when people are causing trouble.) --TheRealLurlock Talk 16:18, 5 March 2008 (EST)

Can you help me?[edit]

If you are not too busy could you help me create my talk page and get started helping out on this site? (so far i have only made small changes and contributions)

Congrats ... Sorta[edit]

PennyRacer.jpg
You have been given a Golden Penny Racer!

Your dedication and diligence to the Wiki has not gone unnoticed. A user has seen the progress you've made, and has given you a Golden Penny Racer because of your courtesy. Good Job! This user had the following to say:Hello, Congrats on being nominated for being an Admin. You're in full support. But if you win, maybe you'll get an entire pile of Pennyracers? --Playjex 14:31, 6 March 2008 (EST)

Aww, thanks Playjex! :) –Eshetalk14:44, 6 March 2008 (EST)

Punammu talk[edit]

You're welcome, and yeah, the writing bugged me as well. I can give it a crack w/o plagiarizing the bug-report if you want me to. --Benould 16:00, 10 March 2008 (EDT)

Sure, go ahead! Thanks again! –Eshetalk16:11, 10 March 2008 (EDT)
Looks good :) --Benould 16:56, 10 March 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the welcome[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. :) I'm a (lately inactive) admin at Wikipedia, so I know my way around the place. My scant gaming time is mostly taken up by playing and modding (not necessarily in that order), so I don't expect to be contributing too much at this time. However, I am available for tech advice for MediaWiki if it's ever needed. I'm not a guru, but I've installed and managed my own MediaWikis and I have a good working knowledge of many of the software's quirks. Email is best for things that need a quick answer, but otherwise just drop be a note at my Talk page.

Thanks again for the welcome! It makes the place feel friendly. :) EggDropSoap 19:20, 11 March 2008 (EDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the advice. Michaeldsuarez (Talk)/(Contribs) 20:31, 20 March 2008 (EDT)

Thanks for the welcome[edit]

Hey thanks for welcoming onto this place, but I just wanted to say, on the page I edited you said what I edited was redundant, but actually it was warning about a mistake I made, using fire resistance instead of fi=re shield. Just saying! =)

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. I reverted it because what you'd posted didn't seem to be a complete thought, so it wasn't very clear. It would probably be best to just rewrite that point, then, instead of saying "do fire resistance...but wait, you should actually do fire shield." That way it's more accurate and straightforward. Thanks for clarifying that ;). –Eshetalk20:37, 22 March 2008 (EDT)
Just clarifying, feel free to visit my talk to comment on my page drafts, I need it

Explanation[edit]

On the Third Era talk page, you undid and edit I made, stating "don't remove other people comments" (or something to that effect). What I don't think you realized is that the comment was originally without a Subject/headline and was outside of the normal location for comments. What I did was just create a title for it, then copy and paste his comment under that title. When I did this, however, I forgot to delete the original, so I went back and deleted the original so as to prevent a duplicate. In fact, after you had undone my edit, Nephele basically went back and redid what I had done originally. I think you should have looked at the situation before making a change and warning. Just wanted to let you know that it wasn't vandalism or even a uninformed mistake - it was purely intentional and constructive. — Unsigned comment by Adoring Fan (talkcontribs)

That's fine. You're right--I probably should have done further checking, but in my defense I was also checking a lot of other edits at the same time. Thanks for letting me know! –Eshetalk21:37, 28 March 2008 (EDT)
It's okay; I can't imagine the amount of work that people like you do just to help make the wiki a better place for everyone. I can understand how time-consuming it must be and how it can be easy to make mistakes when you're so busy. I just wanted to let you know so as to clear things up. Thanks for understanding and for all your effort!

Geez[edit]

Man, all this time, and NO ONE has congratulated you on becoming and Admin. Don't worry, you'll get your pile of Penny Racers soon. ;] --Playjex 23:15, 4 April 2008 (EDT)

Dagoth Ur, Madgod User page edit[edit]

Eshe, I understand you not wanting people to edit others the user pages, but the edit of mine was deleting a prank, technically a form of vandalism to the site, I was deleting it because it is a misleading notice, look yourself. Puddle 23:26 April 11, 2008.

I realize it was a prank message. In fact, I believe Dagoth is not the only user on the site with that banner on his user page. However, it's a simple joke, and it's not hurting anyone. There's no harm in a little fun ;). –Eshetalk 19:32, 11 April 2008 (EDT)
I know, I'm just trying to uphold wiki "law", I rarely find anything to do lol!-Puddle 01:13 April 11, 2008

I need Help[edit]

Hey Eshe can you help me making those user boxes things like "This user plays on Playstation"? User:Black Hand Speaker

Sure! Check out UESPWiki:Userboxes. There are plenty of boxes there, as well as instructions to help you make your own. Have fun! –Eshetalk 20:24, 11 April 2008 (EDT)

Thanks[edit]

Thank you very much! I'll be here to check up on things every now and then when I take a break from my work! Again, thank you!--Ahnaz31 15:16, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Frost shader[edit]

Hi Eshe,

  • Firstly: I think this is the first message I've ever sent you.
  • Secondly: What 68.100.89.121 meant by "Frost Shader" is that strange spell the Underfyrkte.... thing has when you hit it. He was simply mentioning that it wasn't active in the image.

- Game LordTalk|Contribs 15:47, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Hi :). Thanks for letting me know. In any case, it doesn't seem like something that needs to be mentioned on the image and in captions, so that's fine. Thanks again! –Eshetalk 15:56, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

Crystal Chests[edit]

What do you think the Crystal Chests are there for? I mean, are they there for a reason (other than you opening them)? Or are they just apart of another background story?--Ahnaz31 15:53, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

All I know about them is what's described on Shivering:Crystal Chest. My computer rejects the idea of Shivering Isles, so I haven't gotten to play it yet :(. –Eshetalk 15:57, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
Let's just say that it is a world VERY worth seeing... when i went into mania... i couldn't get back out... i never wanted to!!! there are no words for the isle.--Ahnaz31 15:58, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
OMG!!! I think I might have just had an idea of why they're there!!! Do you think the chests could have something to do with the whole Knights of the Nine story thing!? I mean, because they all have their own special things, like weapons, armor, enchanted equipment... and just maybe their stuff... or something even greater... were put in those chests. I think that maybe they had someone very close to them that they considered a god-like knight in their terms, and so when he died, maybe they had his things buried in all these chests... but just a thought!--Ahnaz31 16:14, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
Hey, um, do you have any suggestions as to any really funny Oblivion glitches to watch.... my darn publisher is out sick with the flu and now ive got to find some way to blow off some steam!!!! Thanks (and i was so looking forward to this...... grrrrr....).--Ahnaz31 17:21, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
Sorry, I don't know. That's not really what I'm here for. You might try the forums or running a search on Youtube. –Eshetalk 17:27, 16 April 2008 (EDT)
Yipe! Sorry about that! But thanks anyways!--Ahnaz31 17:40, 16 April 2008 (EDT)

fanfiction help by M.trix[edit]

i am having a roblem with my fanfiction that im writing. no matter what i do the fanfiction stays in a 3 line square going through the enire page to the right and not going down as standard text would. — Unsigned comment by M.trix (talkcontribs)

The problem was that you were inserting spaces at the start of each of your paragraphs. Any wiki-line that starts with a space is interpreted as code, rather than standard text, resulting in the strange appearance. --NepheleTalk 23:06, 28 April 2008 (EDT)

Sandbox Quests[edit]

Hi Eshe, just a message to let you know that your sandbox quests are present on the Category:Oblivion-Quests page. I don't want to seem rude or anything so this is a notification, as opposed to removing the category tags myself. Anyway, thanks I guess :) --Saint 10:12, 3 May 2008 (EDT)

New Game?[edit]

Hey, I've been hearing rumors of a new Elder Scrolls game coming out soon. Is this true?--Imperial Scum 23:09, 11 May 2008 (EDT)

Hi, Guildknight told me you made the banner with her name on. Can you tell me how to make one? -Goblin lair 16:35, 28 July 2008

Ok, no need of action... Rpeh told me. -Goblin lair 10:01, 5 August 2008 (EDT)
