Welcome[edit]

Hello Junebug1138! Welcome to the wiki. I hope you enjoy using the site and find the information on it useful. If you decide you want to help improve any of our pages, we're always welcoming to new editors so feel free. You might want to look at our Getting Started page for some tips on how to begin, then play in our Sandbox for a while to practice. If you need any help or advice, please ask one of our mentors. Enjoy! –Eshetalk 17:31, 12 June 2009 (EDT)

Editing[edit]

I am in the middle of a wonderful discussion about one of my first edits on the UESP. I want people to know that I do not edit all willy-nilly, I am very conservative in putting a change into the page. I do think about what it adds to the entry, is it redundant or unnecessary? Most of the work has been done for me as the pages are already there. I am not in this to see my name on the edits, I really wish to give players all the information needed (or wanted) to play these FANTASTIC games. I am being edited by someone that seems to change his mind about the edit every other entry into this discussion. If you are a new editor, stand up for your entry, if it is removed or changed think about the reasoning, does it stand up to scrutiny? My style is slightly confrontational, but I have found that you get the best answers from the people WILLING to explain themselves and to teach you the why's and what for's. I will fight for the clarification of policy not only for myself but for future editors. Thank you to all those that have gone before.--Junebug1138 12:29, 17 June 2009 (EDT)

I hope you have not misunderstood our intentions in discussing your edit with you. The beauty of discussion is that it allows all involved to voice their thoughts and, if necessary, develop their opinions. As frustrating as that might be, it is perfectly valid for one participant to alter his or her opinion based on the suggestions of another.
No one has accused you of thoughtless editing; in fact, I believe you have been thanked more than once for bringing up a topic that has not been properly discussed before. Please do not feel as if we are in any way attacking you. You've started a valuable discussion that will help us improve the site. On the other hand, it is not reasonable to expect a quick resolution to things like this. It's important to allow other editors time to find and contribute to the discussion, which can take longer than you might hope. Just be patient, and with any luck we'll come to an agreement soon enough. –Eshetalk 13:02, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
I have been very thankful for your help, Eshe, please do not misunderstand. Actually if I WANT this discussion. As you say, it is very imprortant to have these discussions so that a clear policy is in place. The weapons are generic, so they should be de-listed. There is no middle ground here. Please do not take my comments as sarcastic in nature, I love this game (more than I did when I first played it) and only wish the best for it. I will fight for the edits I bring (not fist-fight) because I believe they are the best for the entry. If I am wrong (as in this situation) I will acknowledge such a mistake and make those changes if not already done so. More than anything I want to be able to enjoy your input, but please don't think I am trying to be an... well you know. I think this is a great way for us to come to a consensus, it allows for thoughtful dialog, we aren't screaming at each other. hahaha (and by the way, the email confirmation is not working for me, tried it several times and looked for answers on forum, none. any clue?)--Junebug1138 13:39, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
As I said before, Mr. Oblivion (and any editor on the site) has every right to change his mind about any decision, whether it be his own or someone else's. If no one were flexible in this way, we wouldn't get anywhere. Mr. Oblivion altered his stance in response to a very good point that was brought up by Rpeh and, again, this is perfectly valid.
I understand that you have the site's best interests in mind, and that is greatly appreciated. Just keep in mind that you are not the only one. Mr. Oblivion's decision was in no way arbitrary and you should not presume that his responses constitute an unwillingness or an inability to explain the situation. We're all just doing the best we can here.
And to answer your other question, I don't know much about email confirmation difficulties, but I know they've happened before. Nephele would probably be a good person to turn to with that issue. It could have something to do with the ongoing testing/upgrades she's been working on. Best of luck with that ;). –Eshetalk 13:51, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
I have found the relevant information to this problem Don't give details on leveled loot or creatures Thanks for setting me on the right path. It always pays to read the help sections first :O. And, Thank you Mr. Oblivion(T-C) for your input. We uninitiated need some guidance now and then. Keep up the good work guys.--Junebug1138 15:29, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
