A Pair of Shoes[edit]

See this note. My C# and DotNetWikiBot have become a bit rusty. I'm sure this'll be a 5-minute job for you...feel like generating a list of links to the Oblivion:Clothing page that use #Shoes? Robin Hoodtalk 23:16, 4 July 2010 (UTC)

It's easy enough to do, but not right now as I don't have the source for RoBoT with me. I'm back in London on Tuesday evening so I can have something for you on Weds, but that might be too long a delay if you're in a hurry. rpeh •TCE 23:39, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
No hurry. I'm waiting for feedback on the issue anyway. Robin Hoodtalk 01:44, 5 July 2010 (UTC)
See follow-up message to the original note...I think I've found all instances, but a "second opinion" would be good if you have a moment — this was not a good day for programming, as I'm really out of it. I may actually have found all instances of rainbows and puppy-dog tails given my mental clarity today. :) Robin Hoodtalk 22:38, 19 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry... I had completely forgotten about this. I'll see what I can do now. rpeh •TCE 12:49, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

Health/Magicka values[edit]

Hey there! I've just finished a major revamp of the Apostle page and it would really be great if you could add the leveled health and magicka values as you've done on so many other pages. Cheers. :) --SerCenKing Talk 08:41, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Sure - I'll see what I can do. rpeh •TCE 13:15, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch! --SerCenKing Talk 09:17, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

Jobs[edit]

So I was cleaning my sandbox, and I found a lot of job requests you gave once upon a time long ago. This is a bit (a lot) belated, but do you still need them done? It's bothering me. If not, do you have any other miscillaneous jobs for me to do while I have 16 free hours in a day? (the other 8 are spent playing video games :P ) Vesna 02:33, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

Hi Vesna. I think most of those jobs have been done. Didn't you actually do the first one? This category contains all the permanent corpses, and you were the one who created it.
The second task seems to have been mostly done. There are still a few pages that link to the Mods page rather than plug-ins, but most of those are talk pages. If you want to fix the others, that'd be great.
For respawning NPCs, we now have this page and the {{NPC Summary}} automatically adds people to this category so I think that one's done too.
It's good to see VesnaBot back in action :) rpeh •TCE 09:02, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Ok. I remember working on the first one, but I wasn't sure if I had finished it. Thanks for clearing that up! And be sure to tell me if you have any Bot-like work. :) Vesna 17:12, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
I'll bear it in mind :) rpeh •TCE 17:20, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Ah, one more thing. What impact does it have when linking to a redirect vs linking to the page directly? Kinda like the whole mods/plug-ins business. I ask this because I've seen other instances of this, such as pages that link to the Sigillum Sanguis vs the actual Oblivion:Sigil Keep#Sigillum Sanguis page, and I was wondering whether to fix them. Vesna 03:03, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
It's usually better to link to the redirect. If the headline on the page is changed then direct links stop working, and it's sometimes a real pain to find everything that links to it directly, whereas you can change one redirect to fix everything else. rpeh •TCE 08:28, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Sorry to chime in, and I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not - but wouldn't it be useful to categorize this list? --Krusty 10:06, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Missed this earlier. Yes - if we can confirm that those NPCs have changed their schedule as a result of official plugins, then a category would be very useful. "Category:Oblivion-NPCs-Schedules Changed by Official Plugins" seems a bit longwinded. Any better ideas? rpeh •TCE 21:57, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Well we could probably go with "Category:OB-NPCs-Schedules-Changed". Not that much shorter but everything helps.--TheAlbinoOrcGot_a_question? 01:25, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
>Rpeh> You are right - no need to categorize NPCs not affected by the plug-in's. I did, however, think about making two categories: one for Fighters Stronghold and one for KotN. Unfortunately, due to my recent computer-crash, it will be some time before I can afford a 360 and do all the checking - and when it comes to the category names, I think they will be long, no matter what we do. --Krusty 07:19, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

Images of a Lizard?[edit]

Hey Rpeh! You probably guessed this request would turn up sooner or later and since the Amusei Redesign Project in my Sandbox is (almost) finished, now is the time. Like the Hassildor and Medthredhel pages, the Amusei VIP page needs a few images to avoid the walls of text and make it into a beauty. As usual, I will let you make the final decision about what to shoot, but here are a few thoughts:

  • A shot of Amusei wearing his lower-class clothing in Leyawiin, maybe near the statue (for use in the third section of the schedule).
  • In the Quest-related Events section, maybe come up with a new shot for May the best thief Win? We are using that shot on at least three pages.
  • Same section, a shot for Ahdarji's Heirloom (could go on Ahdarji's page as well).
  • Same section, a shot for Lost Histories (maybe Amusei and the Pale Lady?).

Also, I was thinking about a shot describing the bug - with Amusei sneaking behind that door. The bug is serious and it may help people to see an image. Also, we agreed that the Career-section was a good thing - but what about some kind of Thieves Guild-logo to go with it? I don't know if such a thing exist, but then maybe the Master Thief logo? Just a thought, though. I hope you are willing to participate once again - no rush or anything - as we have put a lot of time and effort into the page, and it really deserves that beautiful "finish" to make it into a "everything-you-always-wanted-to-know-about-Amusei-but were-afraid-to-ask"-page. All the best! --Krusty 11:33, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

I'll see what I can do! rpeh •TCE 14:10, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Okay, three new images uploaded. I've just slapped them into the sandbox so far so they will probably need moving around a bit. rpeh •TCE 10:59, 12 July 2010 (UTC)
Brilliant work - as always! I like the fact that you can see both his lower-class attire, the statue and my beloved bedroll in the Leyawiin shot - the Leyawiin prison shot will turn up on Ahdarji's overlong page in a few seconds - and the Pale Lady shot couldn't be better! Nice work, mate, and thanks! --Krusty 11:12, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

OB Ingredient Pictures[edit]

Since you seem to be the screenshot-taker-person on here, could you get pictures of all the ingredients?--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 21:11, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

We already have them here -- Jplatinum16 21:22, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Those are icons - I assume he means pictures like this. I took similar pictures for (most) Tamriel Rebuilt ingredients (for instance). In general, the important ones have already been done and the rest is only going to be a background task at best. I seem to recall starting it at one point then deciding it wasn't worth it. Maybe it's worth doing after all. rpeh •TCE 21:32, 15 July 2010 (UTC)
Yep, that's the kind of pictures I mean. Thanks!--TheAlbinoOrcany_questions? 21:48, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

A little help, please[edit]

Hi rpeh! When you get the time, do you think you could help me with this? Thanks!--S'drassa T2M 21:14, 19 July 2010 (UTC)

Replied on the other page. rpeh •TCE 07:51, 20 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm NOT a bot[edit]

Any idea why RoBoT's recent series of edits weren't auto-patrolled? I patrolled a handful of them, but then it occurred to me you might want to see for yourself, so I left the rest of them unpatrolled. Robin Hoodtalk 04:31, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

In a word... no. I made a few tweaks some time back, but nothing that should stop auto-patrol. If the edits are being saved as RoBoT (which they obviously are) then they should be auto-patrolled. Weird. rpeh •TCE 07:36, 22 July 2010 (UTC)

Multiple Accounts[edit]

I just wanted to point out that one person has apperantly made several accounts for whatever reason. I don't know if anything should (or could) be done about it. They are, listed from newest to oldest:

CplCumInAHam14, CplCumInAHam96, Cpl.CumInAHam,

and probably the same person:

AidsCumInAHam1201, AidsCumInAHam96, and AidsCumInAHam. --Arch-Mage MattTalk 21:33, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

It's a childish name, but if they're causing problems post on the Admin Noticeboard. I can't do anything about it. rpeh •TCE 13:05, 25 July 2010 (UTC)

TheEnigmaticMan's fury rages unabated, but He will nevertheless acknowledge the rather Ironic threats from rpeh.[edit]

TheEnigmaticMan wishes to state that there is no consensus to bow to. He realises however that there are those with the power to take action against Him at such a level as to effectively rule out any counter-attack. He wishes to point out the irony of your threats, considering that they have been levelled at Him to deter Him from making threats. TheEnigmaticMan will not bow to such terrorism again. TheEnigmaticMan 11:18, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I'm not making threats: I'm telling you what will happen if you continue as you have started. Krusty, Jadrax, RobinHood70 and I have all removed the map and you keep editing it back. What you are doing is called Edit Warring, as has already been pointed out to you, and it is against the site's policies. Your statement that you "will agree to a cessation of hostilities if the map is allowed to remain" and that we should "not expect Him to surrender again" are clear indications that you don't care about the opinions of others.
Unless you learn how to behave on a wiki, you'll be blocked from using it. That's not a threat, it's a statement of fact. rpeh •TCE 13:03, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
I also removed the map twice. This is beyond the 3RR.--Corevette789 13:42, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

An apology.[edit]

TheEnigmaticMan wishes to apologise for His obstinacy regarding the inclusion of the Elven Map Redux on the must have mods page.
TheEnigmaticMan 15:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

No problem. Hopefully we can come up with a structure everybody can like. rpeh •TCE 15:40, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
TheEnigmaticMan has decided to get a grip and will continue with scheduled changes, though with a notable omission. --TheEnigmaticMan 17:34, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

A photography page?[edit]

TheEnigmaticMan wishes to know whether or not a photography page is in existence or has been proposed? --TheEnigmaticMan 17:47, 26 July 2010 (UTC)

I keep my own, and Timenn has a lot of images around too, but there's no central page. I can see it getting swamped a bit... rpeh •TCE 18:37, 26 July 2010 (UTC)
Very well. I shall add a prefix "TEM". I shall endeavor to take brighter photographs in future. You may notice that I have abandoned third person speech. I'll not answer why except to say that it is mine humour. --TheEnigmaticMan 12:56, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Charts[edit]

So, Krusty and I were discussing how neither one of us had any idea how to do charts, and I decided to pick one of the pages apart and try to figure it out. I actually think I understand it, but I have a few questions, particularly about the article that I was dissecting. If you have a chance, I'll be in IRC for at least the next 2 or 3 hours. If not, shoot me an email. Now that I've almost got it, I really want to figure the rest of it out! :) --GKtalk2me 20:16, 30 July 2010 (UTC)

Sorry but I wasn't around last night... I might be on for a while this evening though. rpeh •TCE 17:00, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Template-finding Regex revisited...yet again[edit]

(Use at your own risk...you know how I despise Regex.)

After having some issues with my previous template-finding regex, which I believe I shared with you, I've gone through and updated it. The freakin' thing's a nightmare, but it seems to work. Here it is, for whatever it's worth:

Template = new Regex("(?<!{){{(?i:" + search[0] + ")" + search.Substring(1) + "(?>(?!{{{?|}}}?)(.|\n)|{{{?(?<Depth>)|}}}?(?<-Depth>))*(?(Depth)(?!))}}");

...or making the Regex portion a little more readable using "Userbox" in place of search with spaces inserted for readability:

  (?< !{ ) {{ (?i: U) serbox
    (?>
      (?!
        {{{?
      |
        }}}?
      )
      (. | \n)
    |
      {{{? (?<Depth>)
    |
      }}}? (?<-Depth>)
    )*
    (?(Depth) (?!) )
  }}

In essence:

  • Look for {{Userbox (but not {{{Userbox) with the first letter being case-insensitive.
  • Match sets of two or three curly braces recursively (I don't entirely understand this part, though I get the gist of it...I basically just pasted in what I needed to), allowing for any characters in-between, including newlines.
  • Grab the closing }}.

This is adapted from the examples here if you wanted to look at it in more depth. Robin Hoodtalk 18:53, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Edit: One weakness I'd forgotten about is that it will, for example, find {{Userbox Category...}} as well as {{Userbox...}}. I'm not entirely sure how to address that, though I think I can probably do it if I fight with it long enough. Feel free to share if you have something. :) Robin Hoodtalk 19:00, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Edit 2: Gah! The above was failing to find userboxes on Template:User Rank. For now, I've simplified it to:

Template = new Regex("(?<!{){{(?i:" + search[0] + ")" + search.Substring(1) + "(?>(?!{|})(.|\n)|{(?<Depth>)|}(?<-Depth>))*(?(Depth)(?!))}}");

... (removing the double/triple curly-brace search), but if you have any insights into why it was failing, I'd love to hear them, as I suspect the simplification would bomb on something like {{#replace:My{text|{|(}}. Robin Hoodtalk 19:56, 31 July 2010 (UTC)

Wow... I've been sticking to the simple one I've used since the start because it works for what I need. I'll try to understand what's going on there at some point but I've not got my Regex glasses on at the moment. rpeh •TCE 12:22, 1 August 2010 (UTC)
