Welcome[edit]

Hello SarthesArai! Welcome to UESPWiki. It's always good to have new members. If you would like to help improve any of our pages, you may want to take a look at the following links:

If you would like to spice up your userpage, click here for a list of userboxes you can use, including a guide to making your own.

When you're editing, it's always a good idea to leave edit summaries to explain the changes you have made to a particular page, and remember to sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~~~~. Also, the "show preview" button is a great way to view the changes you've made so far without actually saving the page (our patrollers really appreciate it!).

Feel free to practice editing in the sandbox or discuss the games in the forums. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact one of our mentors. Have fun! —Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:36, 28 December 2012 (GMT)

Bestiary[edit]

Are you trying to redo the bestiary by type rather than alphabetically? Just wondering what you are doing :) Jeancey (talk) 22:45, 11 May 2013 (GMT)

Yes, I was planing something like this, not sure wether or not to leave the alphabetical list... It just bothered me that all the obviously related monsters (like bears for example) were spread so far from each other. SarthesArai (talk) 11:17, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
I may also add pages like Lore:Dwemer Animunculi or Lore:Golem in my project if the wiki community allows it. SarthesArai (talk) 12:32, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
While I like your idea I don't think it should replace the alphabetic bestiary. Alphabetic list are a style of this wiki and shouldn't be deleted. However nothing stops us from having various styles.--Ashendant (talk) 16:56, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
Suggestions:
I wouldn't put Soul Cairn Undead in the same place as regular skeletons.
Try to remove Found in as a sub-category. So it doesn't appear in the ToC.
Be careful with sub-categorizing stuff. Like Bristleback as a type of boar or Lamia and Medusas as the same being.
I think you should dump domesticated/prey/aquatic terms and go with mammals, reptiles, fish and birds. It's a much more cleaner division. --Ashendant (talk) 17:00, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
I've been thinking about the Soul Cairn Undead myself, as well as the Shivering Isles Animals (see Lore talk:Daedra#Creatures native to Oblivion), and the Bristleback entry says definetly Boar in its description...
Additionaly, its a bit hard to say what type Alits, Nix-Hounds, Durzogs, Netches,... are SarthesArai (talk) 17:08, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
Well, The reason I asked is that something this large would require consensus from everyone on the Community portal. I can see a generalized page like Dragons or Draugr for major species like bear, but not simply a reordering of the list along different lines. I just think it would be redundant to have the same organized in a different order. Jeancey (talk) 17:13, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
I'm just starting to develop some kind of concept to clarify my intentions, so everyone may judge about something they can see. SarthesArai (talk) 17:20, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
Yep! When you are ready, post on the CP so that editors can comment and a consensus can be reached :) Jeancey (talk) 17:23, 12 May 2013 (GMT)

() Bristlebacks well there's no reference in the game for bristlebacks being boars... So i'm going to correct that. Same with Ash Hoppers, Ash Spawn and Ash Guardian, there is no reference to them being linked to Dagoth Ur or the Blight except by having Ash in their name and that section should be renamed into something more lore appropriate, Like House Dagoth creatures or Blight creatures. Anyway This list can be integrated into the bestiary. Add a entry in Bestiary U saying undead that links to a list of undead creatures.--Ashendant (talk) 17:29, 12 May 2013 (GMT)

Bristlebacks are boars, for sure. There is nothing saying they are different from them. They drop boar meat and boar tusks. Also, Ash Hoppers are essentially scrib, ash spawn and ash guardian are simply made out of ash, rather than related to the blight. Jeancey (talk) 17:34, 12 May 2013 (GMT)
Oh they do then sorry I was wrong.
Exactly which is why we shouldn't be directly relating them with House Dagoth or Blight creatures.--Ashendant (talk) 17:38, 12 May 2013 (GMT)

Fanari Strong-Voice Story Image[edit]

{{speed}}[edit]

Hi SarthesArai! Just a heads-up: when you put a deletion tag on a moved image, it's really helpful if you put it before the #REDIRECT part. If you put it after that, the person going to delete it has to manually get back to the redirect, and it's much more tedious to check all the links and such before the file is sent off to the abyss ;). Not a big deal, just wanted to let you know! Thanks :D eshetalk 17:41, 24 May 2013 (GMT)

Maps[edit]

Hiya SarthesArai! I noticed you've been adding interior maps to the various place pages, and I wanted to say thank you for your work in doing this! It's definitely something we've been missing on lots of pages, so it is really appreciated. I did happen to notice that the Fort Dawnguard map is annotated, and that you noted that you had an unannotated version as well. Could you reupload the image, with the unannotated one? We can use a nifty template, {{Perk Tree Setup}}, to add those notes and this is preferred. (And don't worry, if that template is too confusing to do that part yourself, just say the word and I or another editor can do that part for you). Sorry for the trouble, and keep up the good work! — ABCface 21:47, 24 May 2013 (GMT)

On a similar note, almost every location still needs a map, and there are plenty floating around in the UnusedFiles. If you feel that every page without one needs the tag please ask a bot to do it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:16, 26 May 2013 (GMT)
Hey! Just a note, images can be renamed, you don't have to upload them again with another name, just move the existing image. :) Jeancey (talk) 19:19, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
I know that Jeancey, but I didn't want to move the image just to replace it with an exported map, so I uploaded them completely new -- SarthesArai Talk 19:22, 30 May 2013 (GMT)
Ah, I thought that they were identical :P Shows what I know! Jeancey (talk) 19:29, 30 May 2013 (GMT)

I have a technical question for you. I have been down loading maps in the following way. 1. In the Creation kit, click file, click data, check box Skyrim.esm, check box Update.esm , click Ok and dismiss any error messages in order to load up the CK. 2. Then in the Creation Kit, I select World, Create Local Maps. After loading, in Local Maps Creations I click the check box, interior cells, click the cell name (probably the hardest part since they don't appear to be in any order) and then click Create Local Maps button. I then use a dds reader to view the maps created. Is this similar to the process you use or do you go to the cell, zoom out to max and take screen shot from directly center overhead? Rather than run a cyclic redundancy check on the files, I thought it much more simple to just ask. Thanks. Kalevala (talk) 01:22, 24 June 2013 (GMT)

P.S. If you use the dds file technique, is there a better free viewer than DDS Viewer? On the other hand if you just zoom out, is there a standard position you use so that others might duplicate your technique? Kalevala (talk) 01:43, 24 June 2013 (GMT)

I'm using the same technique, except that I set the output resolution to 4096, and often edit the cell for a better visibility. (sometimes the CK ommitts some objects for reasons unknown to me, moving every object in that cell higher seems to resolve this. Sometimes I remove some rubble so the hallways are better visible. If there are objects that refer to other objects in other cells (for example in the forts), you need to break that connection (best by deleting the respective XMarker), otherwise the map will be 10 pixels objects and 4086 pixels black ;-). At last, I rotate the map to match the north direction (according to the NorthMarker Object)). I use paint.net for most graphical operations, it's free and has a lot of functions and supports a lot of file types (including .dds). If you want to help with the map creation, I would like to ask you to start with the end of the alphabet so that we'll meet in the middle ;-). And for searching the cell in the "Create local maps"-window: typing in the first couple of letters of the wanted cell helps a lot. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:33, 24 June 2013 (GMT)

Hey[edit]

Hi! Love your images on the Test Cells page, mostly because I love that page and other stuff not implemented in-game and seeing someone add images is awesome. But would it be possible to have higher quality or larger images, especially if you plan on adding more? It's kind of hard to see what's up with the cells with how the images are now. Any image is better than none, though, and thanks for contributing. Vely►t►e 01:05, 2 June 2013 (GMT)

I just didn't want to clutter up the uesp's saving space with "useless" images, but yes, I'll get some better shots -- SarthesArai Talk 12:39, 2 June 2013 (GMT)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for the Icons! They're too cool not to use them. Kalevala (talk) 01:55, 1 July 2013 (GMT)

Just a thought on this: "I also thought of creating a new template for these pog-markers for maps, using the Map Icons." A nice idea, no doubt about it. However, the difficulty working with the pogs comes when you have to calculate what values to enter. So far I've been placing them by trial and error.

"So for this one, let's try x=100, y=200." Show Preview. "No, it needs to go over more and down some. Lets try x=180 and y=250." Show Preview. "No, it needs ...." And so forth.

What would really be helpful would be a graphical drag-and-drop that would enter the x and y values of the drop location for the pog either in a text file or directly into an image template or show it on the screen. You wouldn't happen to know of some software or techniques like that which could speed this up? Kalevala (talk) 22:14, 3 July 2013 (GMT)

I know what you mean, I've had the issue myself multiple times ;-) Put something like this is way beyond my skill and I'm not sure if it is even possible with the standard wiki tools... I'm looking into the Image Mark-Template and see what I can do to make things easyer as soon as I have time. -- SarthesArai Talk 19:05, 4 July 2013 (GMT)
My brain works slower these days, but here is a work-around. Double click the SR-map on Special:List Files page, then drag and drop the map's image onto a desktop shortcut for MS Paint. Move the pencil tool to find the the pog (x,y) locations and record them on a piece of paper. It works pretty well. Kalevala (talk) 14:43, 5 July 2013 (GMT)
The Image Mark-Template uses values from 0 - 1000 to determine the position of a marker, so you'd need to calculate them to this format (it's not that great difference with 1024x1024 images, but at other sizes it won't work.) I'm thinking of some kind of overlay gridas a help... By the way, here I've created an example page how it could look. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:57, 5 July 2013 (GMT)
Well, you could re-size the picture to 1000,1000 in MS Paint and then work with it. But, I've developed an Excel spreadsheet template that lets me enter the picture size, and MS Paint (x,y) location and then computes the x%,y% and concatenates the whole { {Image Mark} } text to copy and paste into the page's code. However, if you are going to do a major overhaul on the wiki templates I'll just tread water until we have some community consensus about your new templates. By the way the grid at 5000,5000 is a great idea! Kalevala (talk) 20:10, 5 July 2013 (GMT)
Once every 8 years I check in to see how things are going. LOL. Anyway I have written a pair of web pages that do a lot of this "pogging" work and I would be very honored if you were to help beta test it. There are still not a lot of maps annotated this way. If you feel up for this challenge, you can copy and paste their code into Notepad pages and save each with an .html extension. Keep them in the same folder. I stored their code here. If you know of anyone else who might be interested, let me know; they would be most welcome and could likewise copy the code. The reason these are stand alone pages running from your browser and not actual wiki-pages is that Javascript will not work from within a wiki. Kalevala (talk) 23:39, 26 May 2021 (UTC)

File:SR-map-Volskygge.png[edit]

I added this map last week, because I had originally tried (unknowingly) adding a map that was copyrighted. There was no map to begin with, and while I understand the preference of an in-game map, isn't a crappy hand-made map better than none at all? -DimitriusTepes (talk) 21:08, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Frankly no. Original content is against wiki policy. While wikipedia does allow some user created images, there is no need at all to use them here. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:23, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
I didn't want to say that it was bad work. I just wanted to mark it for me (or anyone else) to be a subject for replacement. We just prefer maps directly rendered from the Creation Kit, so that the maps look like the ones seen in-game. If you're interested, you may want to take a look at the Skyrim Map Design Tutorial. -- SarthesArai Talk 21:28, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
I was trying to make sure we had a map for the area. It's perfectly in ratio to to original map; every wall and room is correct. I can change it so that it meets some higher standard, if that would be agreeable. I only have Skyrim on XBox, so I can't create a map from the game itself. Is there anything else that I can do so that this contribution remains? -DimitriusTepes (talk) 14:52, 1 August 2013 (GMT)
No matter what, the map itself will have to be replaced by one generated by the Creation Kit. While your map is very impressive, especially for being drawn by hand (reminds me of the days when you had to do that in games!), it simply isn't preferable to the actual map. If you want to personally keep it after it is replaced, create a new version of it for userspace. I hope that helps! --AKB Talk Cont Mail 15:08, 1 August 2013 (GMT)

Patrollership?[edit]

Hey SarthesArai! I've been seeing all the work you have been doing on the wiki, and your recent reversions of nonsense, and your help extended to new users, and I would like to nominate you for patrollership. Before I do that, though, I wanted to see how you felt about it. --Nocte|Chat|Look 16:45, 2 August 2013 (GMT)

I would gladly accept, although I won't be able to contribute as much as I did the last two weeks, because of work. -- SarthesArai Talk 17:12, 2 August 2013 (GMT)
I haven't had much time in the last weeks, and I doubt that will change soon, so I think patrollership is unnecessary for me. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:08, 27 August 2013 (GMT)

Image Aspect Ratio[edit]

How on Earth, can I make an image bigger if I am using the iPad 2? Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 18:30, 9 August 2013 (GMT)

Rabinna Fix[edit]

Do you mind if my comment is left as a fix for other players? I couldn't find any fix for the problem I had anywhere, so leaving mine on the talk page might be a good idea Eldubya (talk) 13:23, 3 January 2014 (GMT)

Bothela's Discreet Delivery[edit]

Before I slap a VN on it, I just wanted to double-check what you're seeing, in case I'm missing anything. As I see it in the CK, the Steward alias is filled with whatever's in DialogueMarkarth.Steward, which by default is Raerek. While that looks clear enough, just for fun, the dialogueswapgovernmentaliasesscript on DialogueMarkarth forces StewardBackup into the Steward alias at the appropriate time, so I believe that if Reburrus is the current steward, Bothela will happily refer to him, instead. Noticeably, she never refers to the steward by name, only as "the steward", and everything else I see is coded generically to whomever the steward is as well. Robin Hood  (talk) 23:47, 3 January 2014 (GMT)

Hmm, you're right, I was sure to have seen "Forced: RaerekRef", but obviously I was wrong... So we need to verify if this quest can run for Reburrus as well, and if, rewrite the walkthrough... I currently don't have any char on stormcloak side, so I won't be able to check it out soon. Maybe putting up something on the talk page... -- SarthesArai Talk 00:20, 4 January 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, I went Imperial this time around as well. I'll add a VN with a short talk page explanation. Robin Hood  (talk) 00:32, 4 January 2014 (GMT)
On a side note, I just saw your edit summary about fixed globals. As long as they're fixed, I'd say fill them in, though I'll be the first to admit that having something like <Global=SomeItemCount>/10 makes it look more like you're dividing by 10. I think people will figure it out, though. Oh, and on another side note, my plan for the time being is to come along behind you and double-check all the entries and then patrol them. As long as you don't do more than you have been, I ought to be able to keep up. If you decide you want a day off, though, I'll probably do some myself and we can switch roles. (Granted, you can't patrol my edits, but you can still point out anywhere I may have goofed.) Robin Hood  (talk) 22:32, 4 January 2014 (GMT)

ESO NDA[edit]

SarthesArai, I wanted to leave you a friendly reminder that it's unacceptable to post or upload anything related to the ESO. As the NDA states, you're not allowed to upload or post anything directly related to the beta, including screenshots of the game or launcher.

The infringing item in question File:User-SarthesArai-ESOnlineCSTool.jpg has been proposed for (and will undergo) a speedy deletion as soon as an admin becomes available to perform said deletion. Please don't make a habit of uploading such images, or I am sure there is some kind of sanction that will be imposed upon you. Thanks. -damon  xoxo 22:19, 9 January 2014 (GMT)

Yeah, maybe I should have waited until today when I'm not so sleepy anymore and rethought it... But thanks anyway -- SarthesArai Talk 12:41, 10 January 2014 (GMT)

Sorry for the late response, I just forgot to answer... I cannot say for sure if I had any mod active that would make a difference in this picture, for I use a lot of mods... -- SarthesArai Talk 20:16, 20 October 2014 (GMT)

Uthgerd[edit]

I just patrolled this edit which removed your addition from back in December. It looks in the CK like the IP is correct, but the CK's not always as clear as it seems, so I thought I'd bring it to your attention. Did you have that mod installed at the time? Robin Hood  (talk) 20:04, 20 October 2014 (GMT)

I have that mod installed, but when I heard that conversation in-game and found it in the CK I didn't give it any more thought. There is a good chance that the user is right. -- SarthesArai Talk 20:16, 20 October 2014 (GMT)
Yeah, at first glance at the CK, I thought it was active too. The scene is attached to an activator, which is normally a sign that it's used. With the report, though, I checked a little more than I normally would and found out that the activator's never actually used anywhere. Between that and knowing that you have the mod installed, I'll call that sufficient proof that the IP is right. Thanks for the feedback! Robin Hood  (talk) 20:55, 20 October 2014 (GMT)

Dragonborn:Miraak[edit]

On the talk page there is a discussion and an IP made a claim that Wuuthrad did bonus damage against Miraak. Absurd as it may sound, this needs to be tested out in-game. Dragon Guard  (talk) 19:58, 28 December 2014 (GMT)

Ref Template[edit]

Was that just a goof or am I missing something that was wrong with the template? The name parameter doesn't seem to be part of the {{Cite book}} template, and I don't see any difference before and after. Robin Hood  (talk) 16:49, 30 December 2014 (GMT)

Just saw it, it was meant to be a part of the {{ref}}-Template... My bad, I'll go fix it. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:52, 30 December 2014 (GMT)
Thanks! I haven't had much experience with our versions of those templates, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. Robin Hood  (talk) 16:57, 30 December 2014 (GMT)

Rilis[edit]

Hey SarthesArai! Did you manage to get an image of this guy outside the ruins, or the Rilis Helm before Sorondil picks it up? —Legoless (talk) 15:52, 12 May 2015 (GMT)

Sadly I have neither, only an image of sorondil wearing the helm. I'm only taking a few screenshots for the wiki now, and plan to take a lot more once I play through the alliances a second time. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:09, 12 May 2015 (GMT)

Ordinators[edit]

Basically, I killed an Ordinator inside the Ministry, and came out in their armour. Inadvertently, I spoke with an Ordinator guard outside the Hall of Wisdom/Justice and they tried to kill me for wearing their armour. I calmed him, and talked again; he said the same things and started combat. I calmed him again, but couldn't engage in another conversation. Several Ordinator were after me, so my character (who has a speed in excess of 200 through soul trap glitch) ran to the Arena, outrunning the Ordinators. I went inside the pit (balcony). No guards. I went down a floor and entered the floor below. I spoke to an Ordinator, who I paid a 1000+ Septim fine to, and he wasn't hostile. I was able to "wait" inside the Arena area (tested on floor below the pit). No guards were hostile there, it seemed. Glitch or ...? Dragon Guard  (talk) 19:12, 28 August 2015 (UTC)

IC Pledges[edit]

You said in your edit summary of this edit to ON:Undaunted that you can get the IC pledges even if you don't own IC. But surely you are unable to do them without IC, as you can't get into the dungeons? Just wondering your opinion on this discrepancy. --Enodoc (talk) 20:12, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Well, I was talking to Glirion today (05/09/15, PC EU Server), and he said this... And I do not have the IC DLC. I assume they just want another reason for people to buy their DLC(s). -- SarthesArai Talk 21:00, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
Would you mind confirming the name of the quest, actually? Is it "Imperial City Prison Pledge" or "Veteran Imperial City Prison Pledge"? I think they can be offered as Normal pledges as well. —Legoless (talk) 21:11, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
It is "Imperial City Prison Pledge". I haven't taken any veteran pledges yet, but the description of that quest reads as if it was both veteran and non-veteran. -- SarthesArai Talk 22:08, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
Got it, thanks. That's pretty weird. —Legoless (talk) 22:10, 5 September 2015 (UTC)
Ah that's interesting. I wonder if it's a bug. You don't happen to be an ESO Plus member, I suppose? The pledge is either (or neither) Normal or Veteran, as there is no difference between Normal and Veteran versions of the dungeon, aside from enemy difficulty (which was another reason I had initially put them in a separate section completely). If you enter the Normal version, you can only do the Silver Key objectives; if you enter the Veteran version, you are able to do the Gold Key objectives. --Enodoc (talk) 15:02, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
I guess it's best to list them as Veteran then, since they're given by Glirion the Redbeard? An IC or Crown icon beside them should be enough to clarify that they're blocked by a paywall. —Legoless (talk) 16:25, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
I mostly agree with Legoless, but I think we should document somewhere that these pledges are given out even if you cannot access the respective dungeons, essentially blocking the veteran pledge for you that day. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:31, 6 September 2015 (UTC)
That's a good idea; I'll make a note of it. —Legoless (talk) 16:32, 6 September 2015 (UTC)

Cyrodiil Captains[edit]

Hey SarthesArai! Since you don't have Imperial City, I was hoping you could check whether or not the DLC questgivers appear for you. For Ebonheart Pact, they would be Captain Rythe at the Northern Morrowind Gate and Captain Veranim at the Southern Morrowind Gate. If they do appear, what do they say? Thanks! —Legoless (talk) 16:51, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

A quick look arround Northern Morrowind Gate turned out nothing. If you could give me a more exact location of any of the quest givers (no matter what alliance), I could look there. -- SarthesArai Talk 19:19, 8 September 2015 (UTC)

Hey, Sarthes! The wiki is in need of some new patrollers, and you're probably one of the most suitable candidates I can think of. I know that in the past you've said you didn't really feel you could devote the necessary time, and if you still feel that way, then there's no pressure. But if you're interested, I think you would be a great asset to the team. Zul do onikaanLaan tinvaak 12:57, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm always sceptical about the quality of what I do, but if you and the rest of the community think I'm doing a good enough job I'll gladly accept patrollership. I think I can spare some time since I'm lurking over the Recent Changes anyway, and the loading screens of eso are a great time to do some patroling, too xD -- SarthesArai Talk 13:21, 14 November 2015 (UTC)

Stepping in here I agree with Sarth.
First of all it is unlikely the original poster will ever read the discussion again, so it is futile to address that contribution.
Additionally the original poster simply informed that a passage was replaced because the original passage was not in line with the standards this wiki aims for. Opinions on game strategies should not normally be included.
Discussions on game strategies like you comment are more suited to our forums, where I would gladly encourage you to participate.

Transclusion?[edit]

Hey SarthesArai, I noticed that on lore pages the bold page name in the introduction is an apparently redundant link to its own page, what is the purpose of this exactly? -- Topal (talk) 22:38, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

"Transclusion" involves embedding an article into another without duplicating the text. Look at the Ehlnofey entry on Lore:Gods E to see what that redundant link looks like when transcluded. —Legoless (talk) 22:47, 4 December 2015 (UTC)
Ah right, that's pretty cool, thanks -- Topal (talk) 22:52, 4 December 2015 (UTC)

Question?!?[edit]

You said if I have any questions ... hopefully this is a correct way! I was wondering, how exactly that Moss Mother Cave is now better described then it was before?!? -- NONIMAN (talk) 17:49, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi! Yes, it was the correct way. First off, I want to say that the state I left the page in was not the perfect one, and that what I'm going to tell you now includes much personal opinion. For one, I found that some of the sentences were a bit too long and too clustered with commas, and sometimes, you mixed up english grammar a bit (though I'm no expert in it, either). Second, I think that your describing of each and every item along with its location cluttered the page a little too much. Just my opinion, though. -- SarthesArai Talk 18:30, 16 January 2016 (UTC)

Hi to you as well! Well, you're right! The page, after your redesign is, to say at least, in rather poor state! Maybe you should had checking it before my intervention. Then you could talk about cluttering things and mixing up the grammar! I've only putted more comprehensive sentences, and the lenght was, actually, reduced. Due to fact, that I'm not original author, I've tried to save some original expressions and views of that one. So what if someone uses a lot of words to describe that little cave and that sweet, sweet little quest?!? With a nice little reward! For the last, I was wondering, WHERE did you find a snow bear at all?!? -- NONIMAN (talk) 20:57, 18 January 2016 (UTC)

wiesoll man eine neue Seite zu machen?--Ukraine007 (talk) 14:46, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

From UESPWiki:Quick Editing Guide: "You can also create a new page if you're adding a major topic. The easiest way is to first edit the page that will link to your new page and add a page link in the format: [[Oblivion:New Page Title|New Page Title]]. Pages can be renamed by Sysops later if needed". Though you should read my reply on your talk page first. -- SarthesArai Talk 15:21, 30 January 2016 (UTC)

Pickpocket on NPC Summary[edit]

What are you trying to get the Pickpocket box to look like? Did you want it on the same line as Reaction or on a new one? Robin Hood  (talk) 18:14, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

My plan was close to what I've managed to get so far. Having it in the same line as Reaction, but only being present if anything is filled in. The only thing that bothers me now is the vertical line after the reaction field if pickpocket is not filled in. I think that would have to be solved by a conditional rowspan=3. Unless, of course, you have a better idea or think we should wait until we have everything sorted out at the Community Portal. -- SarthesArai Talk 18:24, 31 January 2016 (UTC)
That's exactly how we've done it in other cases, so yeah, that's a good plan. Looks like you got it, well done! Robin Hood  (talk) 19:44, 31 January 2016 (UTC)

About "Lore:Altmer".[edit]

All information, that I've added, is from official Lore sources, with links, do not delete the facts. Also, your editing seems like you just hate Altmer race. Keep your hate for yourself. — Unsigned comment by 145.249.237.170 (talk) at 06:29 on 23 February 2016

I neither hate nor love the Altmer; but stating that they are a superior race (as you did) is highly subjective. Additionally, a sentence explaining the source should not be put into the main text body - a link to the source page is enough. The last paragraph may need a bit of tweaking, though... -- SarthesArai Talk 17:02, 23 February 2016 (UTC)

Thank you for the advice[edit]

I will keep in mind to use that feature in the future. It's been a while since I have contributed to a wiki and I forget sometimes that people have to patrol these edits. Thank you for the reminder.

Korthor Image[edit]

Hi! I saw that you were the user who uploaded the image for Online:Korthor; the videos I've seen on Youtube of people battling him don't match the image you uploaded, and likewise a different image is uploaded on the Elder Scrolls wiki. Was this an error on your part or can the character take on different armors/looks depending on your level when you battle them? — Unsigned comment by 101.163.84.85 (talk) at 09:38 on 12 May 2016 (UTC)

I assume they updated the armor. I'll check to see if I have any images of him from release so we can display both. Other dragon priests should probably get an updated image too. —Legoless (talk) 10:17, 12 May 2016 (UTC)
Ahhh, that explains a lot! Thanks very much for the info :) You might want to update Online:Vosis as well as it still has the robes from initial release. 101.163.84.85 12:51, 12 May 2016 (UTC)

Legends Rarity[edit]

Those rarity colors are just temporary names until the official ones are made public, so categories like this aren't really necessary. —Legoless (talk) 14:16, 29 May 2016 (UTC)

Exalted Viper[edit]

Are you sure the new version of this image actually depicts "The Exalted Viper" NPC? It doesn't seem to have the full-body red glow, and the transformation only occurs mid-combat. —Legoless (talk) 20:49, 3 November 2016 (UTC)

Well, she at least displays this name from the beginning now. Actually, I cannot say anything about a transformation mid-fight, as it didn't occur for me. I don't know how it was before Update 12, but here is what happened to me as I entered Skyreach Temple:
  1. There was a pool of water, before it standing Little Leaf and four Scaled Court members, two in a line with Little Leaf, two before. The Thief was a quest follower of mine.
  2. I attacked the first two Scaled Courtians and killed them without drawing aggro from the rest of the cave's inhabitants.
  3. I attacked Little Leaf. The remaining two Scaled Court members became aware of me, and the Thief and I disposed of the enemies relatively quickly.
  4. A giant figure appeared on the pool, that didn't have name, healthbar, or anything.
  5. A human-sized figure appeared from out of the pool, casting some magic and leaving me stunned. She was Friendly, but I'm not sure if a name or healthbar appeared at that moment.
  6. She revived Little Leaf in some sort of spectral form, and then both turned hostile. This is where I got the name of The Exalted Viper, her health, and Little Leaf's third health value.
  7. I focused my attacks on The Exalted Viper, dispatching her relatively quickly.
  8. As she died, Little Leafs specter disappered as well
-- SarthesArai Talk 13:42, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Ah. I think the transformation occurred for me after I first killed Little Leaf's spectre. I'm also pretty sure she was still called Regent Cassipia up until that transformation, although I can't confirm that. I guess I'll add the old image to the page as well and hopefully someone can trigger it in future. —Legoless (talk) 19:01, 3 December 2016 (UTC)

Template help?[edit]

What was it you were trying to do with {{Online NPC Summary}}? Can I help? --Enodoc (talk) 21:52, 10 November 2016 (UTC)

My plan was to simply move the pickpocket parameter to a new line and the profession after it, as the profession is directly tied to pickpocketing (determining the loot you get). And if you're at it, could you add a vethealth parameter optionally displayed after health, for inhabitants of Group Dungeons and Trials, where both a normal and a veteran verson exist? -- SarthesArai Talk 13:35, 11 November 2016 (UTC)
OK, Pickpocket and Profession are now in the same row; vethealth is probably not needed, as you could just use the existing {{ESO Veteran}} - Normal25,000;Veteran5,000,000. --Enodoc (talk) 14:43, 11 November 2016 (UTC)

ESO Unique Loot[edit]

Hey SarthesArai, I notice you've been updating dungeon bosses. In particular, I notice that you are adding unique loot in the quality that they drop in veteran dungeons, while I'm adding them in the quality that they drop in normal dungeons. My reasoning for this was that statistically, more players run normals, and it's unlikely that experienced players who run vet dungeons will be consulting the UESP. Any thoughts on this? - KINMUNETALK﴿ 01:47, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Actually, I didn't give it much thought, I just wrote down what I encountered during my run - which happened to be a veteran one. I didn't even know that normal drops blue and veteran drops purple, but if it is so, I too think it better to display the items in blue quality. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:26, 14 November 2016 (UTC)

Speed vs Prod[edit]

Just FYI, this image, which you changed from a Prod to a Speed, was correct as a Prod. In order to be speedy deleted, the image would have to be identical or at least very similar (different crop, same subject and location with a similar angle, etc.). Just having the same subject isn't enough. (Note: it's past the required time for a Prod anyway, so there's no sense changing it...I'm just leaving it there for now so you can see which one I mean, and I'll delete it tomorrow.) Robin Hood  (talk) 09:26, 5 December 2016 (UTC)

"Maintenance. This includes any pages which no longer serve a purpose on the wiki, and where the deletion would be uncontroversial, such as unused categories, unneeded disambiguation pages, pages created in error, or any other page where no objection to the deletion is reasonably expected." The image, wrongly named and containing UI element was replaced by a correctly named one, making this image redundant. I have to admit, this is a bit confusing though. I've probably been choosing wrong category myself as well, in which case I'm sorry RH :p Tib (talk) 13:47, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
If it already was in the correct file format, the new image would simply have been uploaded over that one, as it has both incorrect AR and UI elements. That also is an instanteous action, and while in that case the old image would still be available, the new one is of a better quality despite the lower resolution. Also, there is nothing that could be done to the wrongly named image to keep it desired for the wiki, so I thought a speedy delete was in order. -- SarthesArai Talk 16:17, 5 December 2016 (UTC)
The one difference between uploading a new image vs deleting an existing one is that anyone can undo an image upload if they disagree; once an image is deleted, only an admin can bring it back, so if in doubt, we should err on the side of Prod rather than Speed. Now, having said that, that image clearly didn't meet our image standards, so I don't think there's much doubt that the new one is the better choice, but my interpretation of the rules is that it should be Prodded rather than Speeded (Sped? Speedied?). It's often a judgement call, and I've noticed a few where I would've chosen the opposite template of what the person chose, but it's generally not that big of a deal either way. Of course, the reality is that we're so behind on our deletions right now, I'm not sure it matters. :P I'm gonna try to get to those today. Robin Hood  (talk) 19:51, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Oh, thanks for the clarification RH. I actually wonder now if I should have renamed this old image instead, and then uploaded my improved version of the image. Then nothing would have needed deleting... :P Ah well, but it's done now! Tib (talk) 20:18, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
You cannot just rename images to change format, you'd have to reupload them in the new format. But given the cleanimage-tags on the old one, that would clearly not be necessary. -- SarthesArai Talk 20:59, 6 December 2016 (UTC)

Blooddrinker Set[edit]

Hi, I just saw that you removed my contribution from Online:Blooddrinker. As far as I'm aware, this info (a list of bleed skills/sets) is nowhere else on the wiki, and I believe it should be restored — not neccessarily to Online:Blooddrinker, if that wasn't the right place. Do you have any suggestions where I could put it? A new page for bleed damage, or maybe a sub-category of Category:Online-Skills by Effect? --Master Lenman (talk) 16:38, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

I agree that they should be noted somewhere, and I'm not sure where, either... -- SarthesArai Talk 16:57, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Telvanni Robes[edit]

I saw you reverted my addition of Ildari's Telvanni Robes being a bug. If you check the unofficial patch 2.0.9 notes, you will see they did in fact classify the robes being found on her corpse as a bug and removed them. Perhaps for more clarification it should be reworded to "These can be looted from Ildari Sarothril's corpse" and have that classified as a bug? — Unsigned comment by Sporky (talkcontribs) at 19:10 on 31 March 2018

The clothes page should not be reworded, all entries are about who wears them (see the robes/clothes that Arngier or other essential NPCs wear). The "bug" is not that she wears them, only that they can be looted, so the statement on the clothes page is correct and does not concern the bug, so it should not be bugified and mention a fix. The bug listing on her page has better wording and correctly lists the fix in relation to being able to actually loot them. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:04, 31 March 2018 (UTC)
I see, thank you for the clarification. Sporky (talk) 19:39, 31 March 2018 (UTC)

Prefect Optio Bologra Information[edit]

I understand that Optio may be an occupation, but in game dialogue, he is specifically refered to as a Camp Prefect. "Optio Bologra is the Camp Prefect of the Deathshead Legion garrison at Fort Darius. He's a tough and violent orc, not clever or polished, but nonetheless an effective and respected officer." (NoLore dialogue filtered for Gnisis, for people outside the barracks, according to the CS) ThomasTheWest (talk) 14:55, 28 April 2020 (GMT)

Dark04 Prison Guard[edit]

Hi there :)

I'm just wondering why you believe the editor Id added to the "Prison Guard" name is not an error?

It's the only class in the entire game that has their Editor ID prefacing the in-game class name. Otherwise, NPC classes like Zealot would actually be "SE Zealot" and Convicted Guard would be "MS26 Convicted Guard". Hyberius (talk) 13:33, 23 May 2020 (GMT)

Well, for the most part, it doesn't matter. The name for classes not available for character creation is not used anywhere. It's never seen by players, and I feel adding a sic tag will only confuse readers. Just take a look at Factions, there are quest prefixes for some and none for others. It's technical data that doesn't really need the tags. -- SarthesArai Talk 12:50, 23 May 2020 (UTC)
