This Skyrim Cast Website Explanation[edit]

http://www.filmweb.pl/videogame/The+Elder+Scrolls+V%3A+Skyrim-2011-611264/cast

Is this website in Gobbledegook or a foreign language? It lists Thrynn's voice actor but it looks cipher mixed. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:17, 1 July 2013 (GMT)

It's polish. That page lists the voice actors who did the polish version of skyrim. Please stop posting the questions on userpages, that has nothing whatsoever to do with the Silencer. --AN|L (talk) 19:25, 1 July 2013 (GMT)

The Spells Miraak Uses are Leveled[edit]

In one of my edits to Miraak's page will be one revision where it shows leveled lists for the spells he uses. It needs to show the leveled list. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:05, 6 July 2013 (GMT)

What do you mean "In one of my edits", you've already received a warning for disruption partly due to not using show preview. Take the page to a sandbox and make all the edits you need there. I'm already considering a second warning the amount of edits you've needlessly made already. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:11, 6 July 2013 (GMT)
I've got better things to do then argue about Miraak with you. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:16, 6 July 2013 (GMT)
This isn't about Miraak, by all means make the list show which spells appear at which levels, but you made 9 edits in 2 hours to that page, and two successive edits to both Captain Veleth and General Tullius, all after accepting a warning, and earlier acknowledging the need to use show preview. You have become a disruption to the site. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:26, 6 July 2013 (GMT)
Dragon Guard, that's not a good attitude to take when dealing with someone who's trying to give you advice on how we do things around here, especially when that person happens to be a patroller. You've already been warned for edit warring and not using show preview, so I strongly advise you not to add poor etiquette to the list of things that can be held against you should you ever find yourself in the unfortunate position of being warned a second time. Silencer is just doing his job as a patroller, and like all other editors, he deserves to be treated politely. On the topic of making edits, there's really no need to talk to anyone about it beforehand, just make the edit and use a summary (and of course, the show preview button). The talk page for the article in question would probably be a better place for discussing why you think your contributions should stay on the page. Hope this information helps! Nchardak Image[edit]

Hi TheSilencer,

I wonder if you wouldn't mind directing your attention to a small problem I'm looking for input on at File talk:DB-place-Nchardak-Aerial.jpg.

Thanks. :) GodRaineTalk 01:45, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

Great work![edit]

Awesome work fixing all the ref tags on Lore:Nord. I was astounded! I'll make sure that any I include in the future use the right Syntax. GodRaineTalk 18:48, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

Hmm, yes, thankyou. For future reference, reference tags are unique to single pages, hence why KEX did not work. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:55, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
This I didn't know; will certainly keep that in mind for future reference. Cheers! GodRaineTalk 19:03, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

Miraak Bug Templates[edit]

If you said one or two platforms, then that will be for Xbox and PlayStation. That 'load an earlier save' is the solution for Xbox and PlayStation users such as yourself. That's what I needed to know the Xbox bug template for. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:26, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

You added all three platform icons, which is redundant. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:49, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
Well, I am then putting icons for PlayStation and Xbox on there, but I need to know how to write an Xbox icon, because I don't know how. Dragon Guard (talk) 19:57, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
Do not add redundant icons. The solution works on PC, so indicating that it doesn't is not right. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:58, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
It didn't have the PC icon next to the solution of loading an earlier save. Sheesh... you're the one making speculation now for loading an earlier save working on PC. Dragon Guard (talk) 20:50, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
You added "{{Pc22}} {{Ps22}} {{Xbox360}}" to the page which appears as "PC PlayStation [removed to prevent wanted page request]". Tell me again that that is not the PC icon. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:54, 28 July 2013 (GMT)
It wasn't until you mentioned it in the edit revert summary that to not use more than two icons. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:57, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

() If you can't understand that you are the one that added the PC icon in an attempt at redundantly adding all three platform icons then there is nothing I can do to help you understand that. It was you that said "Loading a save on any platform fixes this" in an edit summary. Do not accuse me of bad faith editing. Do not put words into my mouth. Do go away and learn how to edit and read before coming back and accusing me of doing the things that you did. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:29, 28 July 2013 (GMT)

It's fair enough that he didn't know not to use all three until you mentioned it in the edit summary. We used to have large amounts of those from all kinds of people back when Skyrim was first released until we cleaned them all up.
Dragon Guard: to answer your question, the correct way of doing an Xbox icon is {{Xbox22}} → Xbox.svg. The "22" is for 22 pixels in size. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:16, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
Finally, someone knows how to help with the Xbox template on the wiki. Dragon Guard (talk) 12:25, 29 July 2013 (GMT)
Dragon Guard: You really need to stop and think about what you are doing before you do it. Anything that works on Xbox or PS3 will also work with PC unless it is something specific to xbox or PS3. For instance, if the fix is to hit the xbox guide button, or to open the PSN menu, that clearly doesn't work on PC. The only reason the PC tag is used so much is because xbox and ps3 do not have access to the console. The xbox and PS3 tags are almost never used, and certainly not together, at least not correctly. So don't keep adding these because you are just going to get reverted, and if you continue to add things after being reverted, that is not okay. Jeancey (talk) 12:45, 29 July 2013 (GMT)

Anonymous user copying a discussion to multiple pages[edit]

It seems like the anonymous user 84.93.182.163 copies her/his contributions to severeal pages. I guess it is a misunderstood attempt to get responses to a discussion. I am inclined to just remove all but one instances of it, but I would like advice on how to react to it. (I direct the question to you, as it seems you have added unsigned template to one of the instances to get some order to it there.) —MortenOSlash (talk) 18:28, 30 July 2013 (GMT)

In general a question should only be asked once. I removed one of them actually. I'm unsure of what to do with the other two. While they are the same question, it is asking two questions, one applying to the place and another about respawning. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:07, 30 July 2013 (GMT)
Would it be OK to remove the general respawn question from the place article and mark more clear in the respawn article that the section from the place article is a copy (or rather a quote) from there, or would that be considered editing another user's posting? (It would seem more logical to me as a reader.) —MortenOSlash (talk) 20:39, 30 July 2013 (GMT)
Done now, so let us hope no-one feels I overstepped anything or misbehaved. —MortenOSlash (talk) 21:40, 31 July 2013 (GMT)

No malicious intent[edit]

To your comment to me in your edit summary on Unmarked placed. I did not mean to irritate by doing as I did, only removing and not specifically note you on your talk page. I just assumed you would find out what was done nearly as fast as if I notified you if you where still online. I did not think it would save you work to have the wrong links there in the mean time, and deleted them as they made no contribution, only possible confusion. Sorry.

I would have made a note to you if you had obviously not been online to see my deletion, but I just wanted to see if it was necessary before I did. —MortenOSlash (talk) 22:12, 3 August 2013 (GMT)

Vile Vapor Shout[edit]

Can I and Vulpa have your input on this, if you please? Should this "Vile Vapor" shout have it's own page, or should it go under "Unavailable Dragon Shouts"? Vulpa mentioned it on my talk page not so long ago, and we had to decide on what to do with the page. She thought having "N/A was odd for a thu'um, but a little funny as well. Dragon Guard (talk) 21:16, 4 August 2013 (GMT)

Haha yes, it did seem funny. For clarification (didn't really specify on your talk page DG), I don't think Vile Vapor quite has enough info to be its own page, and it seems to fit better under this section much better. If it does stay its own page, the rest in that section should have their own for consistency, which would be a little overdoing it I think. Also, if kept, I think the summary should go... it's just a "lot of nothing", really. ;P --¿Vulpa? 21:36, 4 August 2013 (GMT)

I would agree[edit]

I'm in a bad mood so I got a little worked up; I like your fix :-D--69.136.59.17 00:51, 12 August 2013 (GMT)

A small tweak with a big meaning. I'm not even sure that paragraph is relevant to the amulet's page. In the CK it even says this beside the line where he lies to you, "He's lying. This is really a magical artifact of great power which he had and misplaced. He's attempting to throw the player off the track of the mur". There's usually a reason why someone makes a forum-like post, so even though misplaced, it leads to action. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:56, 12 August 2013 (GMT)
Hmm thanks for looking that up! I didn't have access to that and one could just as easily argue it the other way with no concrete evidence to the contrary.--69.136.59.17 00:59, 12 August 2013 (GMT)

Deletion[edit]

Hi Mr Silencer. I was just wondering why you undid 1232012 by me on the Karliah page. Thank you :). Dunmer Lord 15 13:26, 19 August 2013

As I stated in the edit summary, that info is quest related, the items on her horse are not relevant to her NPC page. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:29, 19 August 2013 (GMT)
oh ok. So should I look for a page on her dead horse? Dunmer Lord 15
Actually, I might start a new page. :) — Unsigned comment by Dunmer Lord 15 (talkcontribs) at 13:36 on 19 August 2013
You won't find one and there is no need, it is just a dead horse. The info might be pertinent to the quest page as a small note in the article. The items you found would generally not be of major use to someone at that stage though. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:37, 19 August 2013 (GMT)
Ok thanks man :) Dunmer Lord 15 13:56, 19 August 2013

Category:Oblivion-Places-Regions[edit]

just look at this 178.252.126.70 07:19, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

Your point being? The map is large so you can read it there, a picture of the page doesn't change my mind. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 12:16, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
Is there any way to keep the map big enough without markup being proken? It definitely shouldn't look like this. 178.252.126.70 18:38, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
I really don't know what you mean, your picture is what I am seeing, zero difference, and I see nothing wrong. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:52, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
Well, the last two links are unreadable due to overlaying with the map, which is so small that only "Province of Cyrodiil" may be seen properly. IMO the map should either be sized fullscreen with the links placed below or be removed at all. 178.252.126.70 20:35, 2 September 2013 (GMT)
I see it now and its fixed, thankyou for your persistence. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:48, 2 September 2013 (GMT)

Shield racks in vanilla Skyrim[edit]

Where are they? The only ones I've ever seen are in the Hearthfire houses and Severin Manor. --Morrolan (talk) 17:32, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

A simple search yeilds Hjerim and Proudspire Manor amongst others, not to mention the editor ID is of vanilla format. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:37, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
There are single weapon racks in Hjerim and Proudspire Manor. Where, specifically, in the houses do you believe you can find a shield rack, which is a rack capable of taking two weapons and a shield? --Morrolan (talk) 17:42, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
Above the bed in Breezehome, above the bed and on the upper landing in Hjerim, by the enchanter in Proudspire Manor, and the same place in Vlindril Hall. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:48, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
Those locations cannot be activated; you can look right at them and there's no activate button. They come with preloaded weapons on them (there's one in Honeyside as well) but if you take the weapons off of them you can't put anything back on them. --Morrolan (talk) 17:58, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
And above the fireplace in Honeyside, which you can see from the CSList entry has not been modified by any add-on, and can be activated once you remove the preloaded items. --Xyzzy Talk 18:02, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
I checked the list of fixes by USKP, and it appears that these shield racks may have been made usable by the USKP. --Xyzzy Talk 18:09, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
Eh? I've used the one above the bed on Breezehome multiple times on PS3. Can't vouch for others as I don't use those houses. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:13, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

() I personally tested the one in Honeyside, but I also have the USKP installed. If you're able to use them on PS3, then that's pretty definitive that they are present in the vanilla game. --Xyzzy Talk 18:15, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

I've used the ones in Breezehome and in Vlindrel Hall in many playthroughs on Xbox. Definitely available in the base game. — ABCface 18:18, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

Concerning the warning[edit]

Thousand apologies for my inappropriate behavior, I am sorry to bring obscenity to your wonderful Wikia, that has came to me as a great source of knowledge if it comes to Skyrim.

However, could you please direct me to a person (or site) who possibly has acquired the knowledge of solving bugs as described in the section I dared to edit? I feel totally depressed and am currently considering suicide, due to the fact I cannot ride dragons, since they fly away, and I stay in the same place, though my position is riding-like, and I float above the surface.

I have no idea what could I do. If you are capable of helping me, please do, and I shall be grateful. 77.255.116.175 21:33, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

Silencer, I believe that this IP was angry and that is the reasoning behind that inappropriate edit summary he/she made. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 21:45, 31 August 2013 (GMT)
The file may not show up for some people, including me. Check out Nexus forums for more help--create a new thread or search the forums for older threads about the topic. Don't forget to try disabling your mods in case they're interfering. You may also want to search for a mod that fixes the bug on Nexus or the Steam Workshop. You can create a discussion about the bug here as well, but sometimes replies on those talk pages are slow or don't happen.
If you are suicidal, please contact a helpline or otherwise get professional help; we cannot help you with that and it would be appreciated if you did not bring that to the wiki. Vely►t►e 23:00, 31 August 2013 (GMT)

Main quests prerequisites/next quests[edit]

  1. See a screenshot: [1]
  2. Go and redo what you have undone. — Unsigned comment by Jarcionek (talkcontribs) at 22:58 on 3 September 2013
You might want to watch your tone there, friend. Making demands of senior editors is never a good way to endear yourself. ThuumofReason (talk) 15:05, 3 September 2013 (GMT)
Hi Silencer, I wanted to apologise for my rude behaviour. Seeing undone changes with summary like "you're wrong" is not really motivating to constructive discussion, but obviously it doesn't give me rights to treat someone with no respect and kindness. I am sorry for this.
In regards to the changes - Blood of the Divines says the prerequisite is Bruma Gate. I have attached screenshot from my gameplay above that clearly show that it is not true. On each of three quests' talk page (aforementioned 2 and Blood of the Daedra) it is mentioned that this order is not really correct. In my opinion this screenshot is unquestionable evidence of current information being incorrect - and hence it should be changed. Would you agree?
Jarcionek (talk) 07:23, 4 September 2013 (GMT)
As this issue is discussed in multiple places, please continue here: [2].

Your recent undo[edit]

I noticed you undid a bug addition saying it's exactly what's supposed to happen (and indeed it appeared to be such) but it was mentioned in that block of text that the Wretched Abyss could not be spoken to, which is a bug. Perhaps if it can be verified it should be re-added (with much improved formatting). — Unsigned comment by Xolroc (talkcontribs)

Dammit, I forgot to sign it again. Xolroc (talk) 17:29, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
It is due to uninstalling a patch. I had this bug when uninstalling the 1.9. Legendary patch when I tried to load an earlier save before the quest trying to experiment the level glitch again with the Oghma Infinium. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 17:27, 8 September 2013 (GMT)
In that case it doesn't belong on the wiki, removing a patch or DLC and continuing your save-game will always result in a buggy game. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 17:32, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

DB factions[edit]

Then how does it get added? As far as the game is concerned, Dragonborn is a part of Skyrim; the namespace separation here is why there are two categories, but the two categories are clearly linked. --Morrolan (talk) 20:37, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

Like all similar categories, the Dragonborn category is added to the Skyrim category. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:46, 8 September 2013 (GMT)

Sorry about that.[edit]

I should probably look further into alternative definitions of a word before deciding to change something. Xolroc (talk) 20:46, 22 September 2013 (GMT)

No problem. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:47, 22 September 2013 (GMT)

There are Gold Weapons in Oblivion.[edit]

You get them from the Golden Saints in the Shivering Isles, and yes they WILL hurt ghosts. I have tried it. They are not in the original game though, if that's what you are getting at. — Unsigned comment by 174.118.132.162 (talk) at 23:28 on 7 October 2013

Well, its a period of my life I'd rather forget, but I'd forgotten about those weapons. Are you sure they can be found normally, it's been a while? Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 23:44, 7 October 2013 (GMT)
Yes, but you have to loot them off of a Golden Saint (which means you have to either kill one or get one killed somehow). They have the same quality as Ebony weapons, I think. — Unsigned comment by 174.118.132.162 (talk) at 23:58 on 7 October 2013
Thanks, try to use the edit summary next time so we know where to look if something is disputed. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:02, 8 October 2013 (GMT)
I didn't know how, sorry. But I've become kinda frustrated because almost every contribution I've made, despite being correct, is erased. Not to point any fingers at you. — Unsigned comment by 174.118.132.162 (talk) at 00:05 on 8 October 2013
(edit conflict) Actually, the Golden and Dark weapons are all over the place in terms of how they compare to base weapons. From Shivering:Weapons: For example, the Golden Saints' favored Golden Longswords are the equivalent of Ebony Longswords, but their Golden Maces only have the same quality of Silver Maces. The same arrangement is true for Dark Seducers, with their favored Dark Maces being of Ebony quality while their Longswords match that of Silver.
I don't know if all weapons are mirrored like that example, and I didn't do research, but they appear to compliment each other, just like the Mazken and Aureal themselves. That out of the way, you can pick up a fallen weapon from them, I am 99% certain of that; but armour, you can't.
Anyway, as to the original posting by our friendly string of numbers: Only certain Dark and Gold weapons damage ghosts, etc. Not every Gold and every Dark weapon. The Gold and Dark weapons can be found here, and the ones that can ignore Resist Normal Weapons have been asterisked. -damon  xoxo 00:08, 8 October 2013 (GMT)
Actually, I want to rephrase that. ALL Gold weapons can, and almost all Dark ones. Only the Dark Mace and its worn variant can't -damon  xoxo
The main body armor and helmet for Mazken/Aureal is only available as a quest reward. However, Golden and Dark weapons, along with Dark Seducer and Golden Saint Shields, are usually looted from the dead Mazken & Aureals in Shivering:The End of Order and Shivering:The Cold Flame of Agnon. The shields are leveled, at level 20+ they have the same effectiveness as Daedric/Glass shields. Weapons are not. Golden Longswords & Dark Waraxes are one of the ways that people who play Oblivion with level 1 characters get high-quality equipment. --Morrolan (talk) 02:06, 8 October 2013 (GMT)

The Troll info I posted is legit[edit]

I was trying to point out that certain troll varieties, namely the ones I pointed out, are much tougher than regular trolls. Regular trolls do not hit hard; they are easy at like level 10, and so the line that says 'extremely dangerous opponents to the unwary' is a little misleading, if talking about just Normal trolls. I was just clearing that up. The information I wrote is what everyone can agree with, I'm sure.

Sorry for writing this on your talk page again. — Unsigned comment by 174.118.132.162 (talk)

Sorry to step in here, but the reason the edit was reverted was because the page is not meant to provide warnings on difficult enemies; it's meant to give just the stats and info found in-game.
(apologies if I'm violating some unwritten rule about posting on other users' talk pages; I'm relatively new) Xolroc (talk) 15:47, 12 October 2013 (GMT)
But it says in the original paragragh that they are 'extremely dangerous oppenents'. I was doing the same thing, and pointing out the traits these particular enemies shared. I think this would benefit the players just as much as seeing the enemy's stats. — Unsigned comment by 174.118.132.162 (talk)
Note, however, the distinct difference in tone between your addition and the original article. The article is meant to be written from an encyclopedic pov, not from a wilderness-guide pov.— Unsigned comment by Xolroc (talkcontribs) at 15:59 on 12 October 2013
Combat tactics and pov edits on difficulty are not generally allowed. Trolls are dangerous opponents, but to all players, the pov is attempting to clarify to whom they are dangerous, as many players would find them difficult at higher levels depending on how and what they leveled to get there. The point about taking caution is also pov, but in the other way, some players may find them very easy opponents (if say they used fire spells and fire enchanted weapons), thus there is no redeeming feature to your edit that I can find. Gaenor: Object[edit]

Why??? Why did you think I thought he was an object? Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 20:06, 23 October 2013 (GMT)

Referring to his scripts is treating him as an object, and also something that is not wanted. NPCs are to be treated as people using words that make them sound like it. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:13, 23 October 2013 (GMT)
Yeah. When I referred to his scripts, I used "him" in the sentence to not make the sentence seem like he is an object. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 07:31, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
You're missing the point. The article is supposed to treat him like he's a real person, not a bunch of scripts and code. Referring to scripts isn't conducive to NPC articles. ThuumofReason (talk) 11:02, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
Think of it this way. You're not describing the events of a game, you're describing historical events in Mundus (or depending on the article, Oblivion), just ones that happened to be portrayed in a game. Xolroc (talk) 13:01, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
Exactly. ThuumofReason (talk) 13:25, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
Oh really?? Missing the point, am I?
For starters, Gaenor doesn't ask others for money. He never does.
Also, using the word "him" in the sentence makes it clear I wasn't treating him as an object. If I was I would have used the word "him", instead I would've called him an object.
Referring to him as an object??? It's not like I went into technical scripting and included the script. Guard of DragonsSpeak To Me 15:40, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
Look, we're getting too hung up on terminology here. The point is, don't mention scripts and schedules and whatnot in NPC articles. That's all you need to take away from this discussion. Let's just move on, shall we? ThuumofReason (talk) 15:55, 24 October 2013 (GMT)

() To quote dictionary.reference.com, an object is "a thing, person, or matter to which thought or action is directed", so using gendered pronouns will not prevent you from treating someone like an object, which receives action.
Compare this:

"He stands in front of the Mournhold Temple all the time, until you progress his quest far enough to make him change schedule."

To this:

"He stands in front of the Mournhold Temple asking people for increasingly outrageous sums of money."

The first one sounds like he doesn't really do anything on his own, i.e. he's programmed to do X if you do Y. That's not what we're aiming at, as we're aiming to describe NPCs like you would a person.

The second one, however, sounds like Gaenor is doing something on his own, not because some script told him to; it's what you would describe an actual person doing. The point here is to describe events the way they are portrayed in-game, like Xolroc said. I hope this makes it clear.
—<({Quill-Tail>> 16:04, 24 October 2013 (GMT)

I support this principle, but is it spelled out somewhere on the wiki? I couldn't find it in the Style Guide or the NPC layout subpage. --Xyzzy Talk 18:45, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
It's been part of the redesign projects, and an unwritten rule for all aspects of the games. Everything should be presented as if it were real, which is most noticeable on NPCs, but also applies to buildings, quests, and creatures. References to data should be confined to summary tables and notes and bugs. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 19:08, 24 October 2013 (GMT)
Sounds reasonable. If this is a standard we are going to follow, we should make it a written rule in the Style Guide. --Xyzzy Talk 01:22, 25 October 2013 (GMT)

Dragon Claw Switch vs. Puzzle Door[edit]

Hey Silencer. I brought this up on the Traps talk page and didn't get any objections, but thought I would ask you since you did the lion's share of the work on these doors. The game data seems to call these "Puzzle Doors" instead of Dragon Claw Switches. What do you think about changing the wording of these in all the relevant articles? --Xyzzy Talk 00:17, 30 October 2013 (GMT)

Seeing your reversions to Lore:Calendar, it occurred to me to check which dates we actually were using for the Skyrim calendar, and I realized that we're not actually using the most common settings. For most users, unless they load a game and then start a new one, the 17th of Last Seed will be a Sundas. Right now, we've got it as Morndas. Should we change it and/or add a note indicating that it varies, do you think? Robin Hood  (talk) 00:32, 7 November 2013 (GMT)

Change to Sundas and leave a note that it does change depending on whatever it depends on. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:36, 7 November 2013 (GMT)

Specification Only Needed For Non-Skyrim Pages[edit]

Why? DGAny Questions? 21:03, 18 November 2013 (GMT)

Excuse me? Could you please elaborate on your query. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:05, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
In your undo on the related page, you mentioned that specification is only needed for non-Skyrim pages. All I want to know is why that image request page link rule is in place. DGAny Questions? 21:16, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
Why? Because the vast majority of requests will always be for the latest game. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 21:18, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
Is this written somewhere? Seems like common procedure to always include the article's full name. —Legoless (talk) 22:37, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
"If requesting an image for a game other than Skyrim, please specify the game in your request." in this section. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 22:39, 18 November 2013 (GMT)
Yet the example below still displays "Skyrim:". I don't think we should be purposefully making requests less detailed for the sake of that guideline. —Legoless (talk) 22:43, 18 November 2013 (GMT)

() When I created the guidelines for the page, I didn't anticipate having so many requests on the page at one time, and that specific guideline was added for the reason Silencer mentioned—I assumed (correctly) that the vast majority of requests would be for the latest game. However, the page was used much more frequently than I anticipated, and in order to make it look more organized, the format of requests was changed. The example tables were updated to reflect the changed format, but the guideline wasn't. I've now adjusted this accordingly. — ABCface 03:13, 19 November 2013 (GMT)

Dawnfang/Duskfang[edit]

Hello! I tried to confirm a bug yesterday, but it seems that I've made something wrong. Sorry for that. :( That bug was about duplicated Dawnfang/Duskfang that stops changing its form until you drop one of the copies. I encountered this bug along with the one that makes the sword's life counter reset each time you drop it in my Oblivion Game of the year edition. Now the part about duplication is absent. Why so? Thanks in advance! :) --84.237.55.19 15:14, 19 November 2013 (GMT)

I'll jump in here. There was no attempt to confirm that bug yesterday, but there was an edit that added something about light causing blindness, which we generally don't deal with (i.e. real life implications of things). There was also an edit to the related quest page that confirmed a bug, but that bug didn't have to do with the glitch in question, and it is still there. Just as a note, the bug you are referencing has already been confirmed, so maybe the edit didn't go through because nothing ended up being changed? In any case, you can always look on the history of the page in question to see what happened. If your edit got reverted, there will be a note in the edit summary as to why :) Jeancey (talk) 15:20, 19 November 2013 (GMT)
I did remove the duplication bug, because its an exploit, i.e. forcing the game to do unexpected things in unusual situation. These things are not bugs as they do not fall within the expected gameplay and gamestyle of players. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 18:47, 19 November 2013 (GMT)
Thank you! :) And what about the blade's kill counter resetting? It really happens each time someone disarms me. Can I confirm this? :) --84.237.55.19 02:56, 20 November 2013 (GMT)
I changed it to confirmed. --Xyzzy Talk 05:13, 20 November 2013 (GMT)
Thanks a lot guys! :) --84.237.55.19 14:25, 20 November 2013 (GMT)

Stonefalls[edit]

Thanks for catching that, dunno why the image uploader didn't notify me. —Legoless (talk) 00:38, 21 November 2013 (GMT)

A quick guess is you have the "ignore warnings" setting on, otherwise your guess is as good as mine. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 00:49, 21 November 2013 (GMT)

Devil's Advocate![edit]

I've actually seen it spelled "accoutrements" more commonly, even here in the U.S. The first suggestion for googling "accout" is "accoutrements", and while a few sites note that "accouterments" is an alternative spelling common to the U.S., that word is so rarely used in common diction that you can probably get away with either. I feel like it's the same principle with the rule for dialog and dialogue, in that either is acceptable in international English, so either is acceptable on the site. That's how I see it, anyway.

Of course, I won't defend how that user responded to you... ThuumofReason (talk) 02:14, 23 November 2013 (GMT)

As an American, I have never even heard that word, much less know what it means. Regardless, the "er" in the middle of the word is most definitely American because American English never (at least to my knowledge, unless they're really weird and/or foreign) uses the mainly British English (but I believe Australian and New Zealand English as well) "re" alternative. •WoahBro►talk 02:23, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
I did have a little trouble tracking down a listed difference, but the dictionaries are fairly unanimous in noting they the are American and British spellings. I've never seen the word before so I couldn't attest to its usage. Now I'm off to make some tea and put wigs on some bald eagles. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 02:36, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
I say. ThuumofReason (talk) 02:38, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
I concur with Thuum that, in my experience, "re" seems to be more prevalent, even in the US. Minor EditsThreatsEvidence 04:08, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
Even if the in-game wording were to use a British spelling, we shouldn't consider it an "intentional misspelling" and give it a sic tag. I think this sic tag should be removed from the article. I also concur that "accoutrements" is much more prevalent in US spelling in my experience. --Xyzzy Talk 04:36, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
Obviously, I can't speak to what's more common in the US, but I know I've seen it spelled both ways. As long as it's considered an acceptable spelling in the US (Merriam-Webster, at least, lists it as the primary spelling), I don't think a sic tag is warranted. Robin Hood  (talk) 04:45, 23 November 2013 (GMT)
Agreed. An Ngram search shows the 're' spelling is still significantly more prevalent in American English, and as an American it is the only way I've ever seen it spelled (although I admit it is not very common to see with any spelling). -- Hargrimm(T) 05:36, 23 November 2013 (GMT)

Ancano?[edit]

Back in August, you added an entry to the IRC ban log with a ban imposer of Ancano. Should that have been you and the person banned was using the name Ancano? Robin Hood  (talk) 07:04, 23 November 2013 (GMT)

Very likely so, but I can't remember. No-one with Ancano has the ability to ban on the IRC so it must be the way you suggest. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 13:04, 23 November 2013 (GMT)

Roscrea[edit]

None of those three sources mention Atmora at all in relation to Roscrea. The Pocket Guide says it is close enough to "the northern coastline" for Solitude to exert influence on it; Brief History only mentions it by name, with absolutely no reference to location; Disaster at Ionith mentions it only by inference as one of "the small island kingdoms that lie between Tamriel and Akavir" (although I think it's doubtful that Roscrea should be included in that group since it is clearly to the north, not east, of Tamriel). -- Hargrimm(T) 04:24, 30 November 2013 (GMT)

You're right, I was thinking Atmora was Akavir, late-night brain and all. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 04:44, 30 November 2013 (GMT)
No problem, I was thinking that was the case since you added Disaster at Ionith. Thanks for the quick response! -- Hargrimm(T) 04:52, 30 November 2013 (GMT)

Happy Birthday![edit]

A Question Relating to the Use of Dual-Wielding in Conjunction With Stealth[edit]

Apologies for posting a question like this on a user talk page, but journeying the internet for untold hours to find an answer to this question has rendered me somewhat desperate for a "professional" opinion from more experienced players. Seeing that many good people on UESP are still active and working, hopefully this question will be answered. I have played through the many questlines of Skyrim and it's DLCs with several characters specializing in the three different skill categories, namely magic, combat, and stealth. I recently gotten back into playing and am now trying to mix the skills somewhat by making an illusionist stealth character that relies on one-handed sneak attacks. While I have gotten through planning most of the aspects of my character, I would like to know whether I should use a single dagger or try dual-wielding with multiple daggers. My goal with dual wielding is to be able to land multiple rapid sneak attack criticals by benefiting from the Dual Flurry perk, as well as making them all power attacks as well. In my previous gameplay, I learned that it is possible to land multiple sneak attacks on the same target provided that it did not die on the first strike and did not detect me to the point where achieving a sneak attack critical is no longer possible. In theory, I should be able to land even more sneak attack criticals on the same target when dual wielding.

After lots of research, I discovered that many people are rather fuzzy with dual-wielding weapons and many people (like myself) do not know how their perks correlate. As a stealth-based character, dual wielding daggers would have been my first choice, but I discovered that the dual-power attack for daggers does not seem to benefit from the Dual Flurry perks and remains very slow. Additionally, I recall reading an article on UESP saying that the dual-power attack only multiplies the damage of each strike by 1.5 instead of 2 which is applied to power attacking with a single one-handed weapon. Dual Savagery makes up for this, however, by increasing the power attack damage by 50%. So, can one increase their sneak attack damage output by dual-wielding? As a PS3 player, I cannot install any mods to fix this and am open to any advice. By the way, should I have posted this on the forums? — Unsigned comment by 66.249.88.230 (talk) at 13:21 on 26 December 2013

This topic is more suited to the forums, but I can answer a few questions. Dual Savagery only applies its 50% bonus to power attacks, so a power attack while sneaking will be better. Dual attacking does appear to be slower, the left hand attack takes up to 50% slower to attack. The Dual Fury perks are needed just to bring this back to standard speed. What you really want is the Assassin's Blade perk in the sneak skill, to get the dagger sneak attacks up to one-hit-kill levels. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 16:09, 26 December 2013 (GMT)
Sorry about that not posting this on the forums, but which is better, wielding one dagger or two? I know that the Assassin's Blade perk increases the sneak attack multiplier to 15x and with shrouded gloves to 30x, but I wanted to know if dual wielding allowed me to land faster strikes on a single target, allowing me to sneak attack a single enemy multiple times. When I had a dual wielding Redguard character, I enjoyed eviscerating my enemies with lightning-fast dual-wielding power attacks supported by Adrenaline Rush. As I said earlier, I can land multiple sneak attacks on a hostile character before they turned around and detected me with one dagger. With dual-wielding, I want to be able to hit an unsuspecting enemy faster, in hopes on landing more sneak attacks on a single target before they detect me compared to using one dagger. — Unsigned comment by 66.249.88.230 (talk) at 20:33 on 26 December 2013
I don't know for certain, but using only one dagger seems to be faster in my experience. Silence is GoldenBreak the Silence 20:43, 26 December 2013 (GMT)
Thanks for the advice. I'll just try both on different saves. — Unsigned comment by 66.249.88.230 (talk) at 21:17 on 26 December 2013
