Quick Walkthrough

1. Talk to Lerexus Callidus.
2. Meet Lerexus and his men at Greyland.
3. Kill the bandits attacking the farm and search their bodies.
4. Track down Ri'Shar and search his office for clues.
5. Follow Ri'Shar to Onyx Caverns and find him there.
6. Report back to Lerexus.
7. Receive your reward from the Count.

Detailed Walkthrough

Three days after completing New Greyland, you'll receive a letter from John Vernik - he and his wife are being threatened by another band of skooma dealers who want to use their farm. Find Lerexus Callidus and tell him what's going on; he'll gather a small force and meet you there. The attackers are nothing special - just some bandits - so you and the soldiers can handle them easily. Once they're dead, search the bodies: the leader has a note from Ri'Shar. Take to Lerexus, who will tell you to go track him down.

Ri'Shar is long gone, but his assistant, J'Haurr, is still there; unfortunately he doesn't know anything, but he'll hand over Ri'Shar's journal. It mentions that he planned to flee to Onyx Caverns, so that's your next stop. Fight your way through the bandits to find Ri'Shar, who is already dead. (Note: If you use Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul, the cave is populated by Amazons instead of bandits, and his men will also already be dead due to faction conflicts.) He has a note mentioning treasure, which is hidden in a chest nearby.

Return to Lerexus with your findings, and he'll send everything off to the Imperial City and tell you to talk to On-Staya Sundew (this starts the quest Reshaping the Skooma Den). After completing that quest, you'll get another journal entry: the Count wants to see you. He's promoting Lerexus and giving you a special title which also comes with the Skooma Cure ability (permanent Resist Poison 20%, Resist Disease 20%, Fort Luck 5 pts); talk to Lerexus afterward, and the quest will be complete.

Notes

• Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
• Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
• If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
• It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage BANLeyawiinNewGreylandDefender stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
