Quick Walkthrough

1. Find the letter on Alan's body.
2. Return to Leyawiin and talk to Lebon Dombale.
3. Deliver the letter to Milena.
4. Go to Anvil and talk to Newheim the Portly.
5. Go to the Mages Guild and talk to Carahil.

7. Talk to Milena.
8. Go to Anvil, recover the amulet, and return it to Milena.

Detailed Walkthrough

This quest starts when you find a letter on Alan's body during the quest Blood and Wine. You'll get journal entry telling you to take it to his wife, Milena. You can either go straight to her house (if you know where it is) or talk to Lebon Dombale, who can tell you. She'll be grateful for the news, but want her husband's body so she can inter him in the cemetery.

Head back to Anvil and talk to Newheim the Portly; he'll tell you the body was recovererd and sent to the Mages Guild for embalming. Carahil, the head of the local branch, will give you a laundry list of ingredients she needs: dreugh wax, daedra venin, imp gall, bonemeal, troll fat, motherwort sprig, nightshade, cairn bolete, milk thistle, and tobacco. Luckily, you only need one of each, because there's a five-day time limit on this before the body becomes too decomposed. If you fail, the quest ends and you lose 1 Fame; if you gather all the ingredients, his body will be sent on to Leyawiin and you'll have to wait a few days. When you get the next journal update, go talk to Milena; she'll tell you that the body arrived, but it's missing an amulet. So, it's back to Anvil to track down Old Tobias and get the amulet from him. Return it to Milena and come back the next day to talk to her, and she'll give you a Commemorative Amulet; this will complete the quest.
