Snowstone Rest

Snowstone Rest is an inn in the far north of County Bruma. It is located down the road from Fort Pale Pass and just northeast of the Serpent's Trail.

Erlus Risula tends the counter, buying and selling food and drinks, and renting out rooms for 10 gold. He is feeling rather lonely since his dog Old Barnius died, which is compounded by the fact that visitors to the inn have slowed to a trickle since the Empire closed the border with Skyrim. He will ask you for help in collecting an offering for his old companion and will then encourage you to find him a new canine friend.

The lack of clientele is also grating for Arnoth the Bright-Eyed, the resident bard, who is incredibly bored. Meanwhile, Avar is catching his breath before heading to Cyrodiil to escape the criminal gang Thorina's Cutters and will ask you to deliver a letter to his brother in Bruma.

Walkthrough

Inside the inn

The inn has a cooking pot and an oven, along with an assortment of food and drink on display. Behind the counter is a Apprentice lock chest with some gold and gems, and a Draught of Haggling. The lower level doubles up as pantry and Erlus's bedroom. The upper level has three rooms, the middle of which you can rent. The farthest room has some gold and a copy of the rare book Last King of the Ayleids, while the room for rent has a copy of the Black Horse Courier.

Old Barnius's shrine

Outside, you will find an outbuilding with some stores and supplies, as well as a chopping block and an iron ore deposit. Old Barnius's shrine is just to the southeast of the inn: a domica redwort offering lies below a simple gravestone reciting:

"Here lies Old Barnius. No man could have asked
for a truer or more loyal companion. You will be
sorely missed, old friend. Sorely missed.

Rest in peace, old fluffball. I don't know if the light
of Arkay reaches dogs like it does men, but here's
hoping it does, old friend. Here's hoping it does."
