Daggerfall Unity: Stealth[edit]

It is possible to remain hidden from enemies in Daggerfall Unity. Enemies use sight and hearing.

They will see in a 180 degree arc in front of them to a distance of about 100 meters. Walls and other tangible obstacles will block their line of sight.

Enemies can also hear the player in any direction at a much shorter radius than sight, roughly 25 meters. Hearing is impeded by 50% if there's a wall between enemy and player. Dynamic objects such as doors will not block hearing. If the player stands still, the enemy's hearing check will always fail.

Stealth Skill[edit]

Every in-game minute (5 seconds in real-time), any enemy capable of detecting the player will roll a 100-sided die against the player's Stealth skill. If the player's Stealth skill is higher than the roll, the player will remain undetected.

Illusion Spells[edit]

The player can cast Invisibility, Chameleon, and Shadow spells to help in hiding from enemies.

  • Some enemies will see through invisibility, rendering it to no effect. If the enemy cannot see invisibility, the character will remain undetected by that enemy.
  • Every in-game minute, any enemy capable of detecting the player while Chameleon is active rolls a 100-sided die, and if the die rolls higher than 8, the player is not detected.
  • Every in-game minute, any enemy capable of detecting the player while Shadow is active rolls a 100-sided die, and if the die rolls higher than 4, the player is not detected.
