Walkthrough[edit]

Once you've acquired your armor, leave the city. At some point thereafter, you'll be contacted by a messenger from the Elder Council. Make your way to the tower; once you enter the front door, you'll view a video, then you'll have a cutscene where Councillor Ocato speaks to you. After this, you'll get another journal update telling you to go visit the manor in the Palace District (aka Green Emperor Way).

Most of the place is still under construction and thus inaccessible, but the main hall is open. Go in and look for the letter on the table near the throne (the quest arrow points to it). It will tell you about the knights you need to recruit: Sorla, Relius Curio, Clagius Infernian, Thoralf Metschlund, and Helgarth.

  • Sorla can be found in the Chorrol Mages Guild. When you talk to her, she'll tell you about her current job, investigating a man named Jelin. See Uncanny Neighborhood for more details.
  • Relius is hanging around in the Two Sisters Lodge. He'll join you, but in return he wants you to deliver a poem for him. See Ode to Adhelene.
  • Clagius is currently serving as a guardsman in Anvil, though he spends most of his time drowning his sorrows in The Flowing Bowl. If you help him redeem his honor (see Punishment Must Be), he'll join you.
  • Thoralf can be found in the Castle Brume great hall. He'll be happy to join the Order, but he's currently working for the Countess of Bruma, and he also lost his hammer. See Thoralf's Hammer.
  • Helgarth can't be found initially, so don't worry about him - he'll turn up later.

Once you've found and recruited all four knights, return to the manor - they'll all be waiting there. Take your seat, and they'll come forward to swear fealty to you, after which they inquire about their pay. Their bags fief (BF) are in the chest beside the throne - you can either hand it to them directly, or place it in their chests in the sleeping quarters.

At this point, the rest of the manor will be open too, so go wild - there are lots of places to explore and secrets to be found.

The bandit attacks have been piling up lately, more and more, and they are also well-organized, almost like a real army. The Empire is weakened and the throne also unoccupied. Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 1, 5.
Notes
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in random order.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • PC It is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ODDHQStart stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages. See SetStage for more information.
