After speaking to Captain Jamila, everything goes dark and the next thing you're below decks with Ensign Monwe. He'll shout, "The battle's on! Hurry! They need you topside!" and run up the stairs.

Follow him and you'll be surrounded by the chaos of battle. You'll hear him say, "Gods! That's magefire! Clear the deck!" just as an incendiary explodes and kills him.
