As you arrive to the ritual site at either Storm-Hawk's Altar or Lendoran Ruin you can witness Vampire Lord and entrapped Ritual Victim.

The Pale Worm: "A pity. This one seemed delectable. So be it."

Ritual Victim: "Please, end my pain! And let the Pale Worm choke on his next meal!"

After you destroy Vampiric Effigy he will die.
