Reforge the ancient blade of Nerevar

Quick Walkthrough[edit]

  1. (Optional) Enter Fahlbtharz Forge.
  2. Locate all four Fahlbtharz Forge Gems.
  3. Take the Unenchanted Weapon from Hand Kenro Hlan at Fahlbtharz Forge.
  4. Place the weapon and the four gems into the forge to obtain Trueflame.

Detailed Walkthrough[edit]

An Unenchanted Weapon[edit]

Finding any of the four Dwarven Forge Gems hidden throughout Solstheim or entering the Temple in Raven Rock and stumbling upon the Ghosts of the Tribunal quest will begin this quest.

Trueflame is located in the Dwarven Forge in Fahlbtharz where Hand Kenro Hlan will attack you. He is in possession of Trueflame, although it appears as an Unenchanted Weapon without the enchanted flames it traditionally bears. He also has a note giving direction, and a sample of Pyroil Tar which will be needed once you have all four Gems.

Fahlbtharz Forge Gem Locations[edit]

The gems are found:

  1. On the body of Hand Kenro Hlan.
  2. On the body of the buyer after following the Redoran guard during Buyer Beware.
  3. In the armory in Ashfall's Tear.
  4. On the body of Erden Relvel at the end of the quest Ashen Heart.

Reforging the Blade of Nerevar[edit]

With the Unenchanted Blade and all four gems in hand, you must return to Fahlbtharz Forge and place the four gems within the forge's receptacle. You will then need to apply the pyroil tar to the blade; doing so will complete this quest and reignite the weapon with a visually impressive fire damage enchantment. Congratulations, you now possess Trueflame, the legendary Blade of Nerevar.

Bugs[edit]

  • Nintendo Switch Logo.svg The animations for creating Trueflame will cause the screen to freeze on the Nintendo Switch. You need to close and restart the game to continue.
    • The easiest way to bypass this bug is by pressing A to insert the blade, followed immediately by waiting for an hour, skipping the animation that freezes the game.
    • This bug can be solved by going into sneak mode, then placing the Unenchanted Weapon and opening the character menu simultaneously. Without exiting the menu, press start and manually save the game. After that, exit both menus. If the screen is still frozen, close and restart the game, loading up the mid-animation save. After that, you should be able to take the Trueflame without issue.
  • Sometimes the pyroil tar does not apply to the unenchanted weapon. ?
    • To fix this bug, try unequipping all apparel items then continue with the quest normally.

Stage Finishes Quest Journal Entry
  • The following empty quest stages were omitted from the table: 2, 3, 4, 6, 20, 30, 40.
Notes
* Any text displayed in angle brackets (e.g., <Alias=LocationHold>) is dynamically set by the Radiant Quest system, and will be filled in with the appropriate word(s) when seen in game.
  • Not all Journal Entries may appear in your journal; which entries appear and which entries do not depends on the manner in which the quest is done.
  • Stages are not always in order of progress. This is usually the case with quests that have multiple possible outcomes or quests where certain tasks may be done in any order. Some stages may therefore repeat objectives seen in other stages.
  • If an entry is marked as "Finishes Quest" it means the quest disappears from the Active Quest list, but you may still receive new entries for that quest.
  • On the PC, it is possible to use the console to advance through the quest by entering setstage ccASVSSE001_QuestE stage, where stage is the number of the stage you wish to complete. It is not possible to un-complete (i.e. go back) quest stages, but it is possible to clear all stages of the quest using resetquest ccASVSSE001_QuestE.
