Tribunal Books[edit]

Thanks for all the work you've been doing filling in the Tribunal books. I just wanted to point out, though, that some of the books you've added actually already exist. For example "A Game at Dinner" exists as Tamriel:Books/Game at Dinner, A. In general any title that starts with "The" or "A" has been created this way so that it alphabetizes properly, and probably should be listed in that order on the Tribunal page too (i.e., A Game at Dinner would be in with the Gs). If you prefer to have a more-normal looking title on the Tribunal:Books page it is possible, just enter the book like this: {{Book Link | title=Game at Dinner, A | alttitle=A Game at Dinner}}. I hope that all makes sense, and hopefully it will reduce the amount of work you need to do to finish the Tribunal books. Let me know if you have any questions! --Nephele 00:42, 24 August 2006 (EDT)

Actually, I've gone ahead and changed two of the books you were working on (Game at Dinner and Wolf Queen), just so I could clean up the pages without messing up the Tribunal books page. As a result, if you look at the Tribunal books page you can probably see more specifically what I meant. --Nephele 00:50, 24 August 2006 (EDT)

Thanks![edit]

Thanks! I'll look at them. I knew some of the books existed already, but I didn't find "A Game at Dinner" previously.

Alphabetizing was on my list of to-do's today. I'll work on that.

This site has been so helpful in playing this game, and I saw an opportunity to contribute in return. Hoggwild5 15:23, 14 September 2006 (EDT)

Tamriel namespace[edit]

Morrowind-specific locations are agreed not to have their own pages in the Tamriel namespace. --FMan 18:00, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Uh, ok....is your post prompted by something specific? I'm a little confused and unsure about the topic you're referencing, unless it's my recent post on the discussion page for Uvirith's Grave. Can you clarify? --Hoggwild5 18:08, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Yes, actually what I said isn't exactly true either. ;-) I was referring to Tel Vos. I did a batch of those pages myself a while back, look at Morrowind:Tel_Branora and Tamriel:Tel_Branora for an example how the Morrowind page adds to the Tamriel one. I talked it through with, I think Nephele, and we agreed that generic information could be put into the Tamriel namespace and then more game-specific information in Morrowind or Oblivion namespace like Tel Branora pages exhibit. Actually this is a line drawn in sand, which locations should be where and how, and we are discussing it right now... Also, please copy the category specification from the appropriate page too, to get the trails show. --FMan 18:42, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for the clarification -- that helps alot. I'm revising both Tel Vos pages to reflect that now. One question -- when you stated to please copy the category specification from the appropriate page, what do you mean? --Hoggwild5 18:49, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Look at the first line that I added to Tamriel:Tel Vos. --FMan 19:16, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks! That makes sense. --Hoggwild5 19:20, 2 October 2006 (EDT)

Feedback[edit]

If you find yourself making repeated edits to content that I have added to this site, constructive feedback would be appreciated. I'm not trying to create additional work for anyone; just trying to contribute. Hoggwild5 14:43, 4 October 2006 (EDT)

Thanks for trying to identify unneeded pages that should be deleted. But a couple tips:
  • There's no need to add pages that have already been tagged as "proposed deletion" to the "deletion review" page. Any page that has "proposed deletion" on it is already included in the list of pages to be deleted (Category:To Be Deleted). In fact, moving them to deletion review is more likely to delay their deletion, because that now requires an additional waiting period for the review process to occur.
  • Similarly, some of the pages that you've been adding to deletion review can probably just be put in the "proposed deletion" list. If you think it's not a controversial deletion, and you're just trying to make sure an admin knows about the page, proposed deletion is more appropriate.
  • Any disambiguation pages are supposed to permanently exist as orphans. They are there in case an editor creates a new page that, for example, just says Oblivion:Arena, without realizing that there isn't any such page. It makes it alot easier for the editor and for readers to find the correct pages.
Let me know if you have any questions. --Nephele 00:20, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
Thanks for clarifying this for me. I though the disambiguation pages were temporary until all links to these pages had been moved. I didn't realize they were designed to be permanent. In addition, I thought after reading the "deletion review" policy that all pages had to be reviewed before they could be deleted. (sigh) I'll stop now. --Hoggwild5 00:35, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
No problem. UESPWiki:Deletion Policy gives an overview of the whole process in case you're interested. --Nephele 00:49, 5 October 2006 (EDT)
Feedback, eh? I think you've done some good work, and I'm glad you have an interest with the maintenance of the site. :) Hope you stick around --Aristeo 02:36, 5 October 2006 (EDT)

No need for new NPC categories![edit]

Hoggwild, there is no need for new categories. The ones you wanted are Category:Oblivion-Breton, Category:Oblivion-Imperial, Category:Oblivion-Redguard.

Please look before creating new categories, namespaces, etc. as usually someone has thought about it already and created it, even if it doesn't have the exact name you expected.

Thanks --Actreal 02:54, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

Sorry -- I looked for the pages, but couldn't find them (a matter of singular vs. plural headings -- Bretons vs. Breton, etc). This stuff is not always easy to find.--Hoggwild5 02:57, 6 October 2006 (EDT)
Agreed, it isn't easy to find sometimes. The other thing to do if you think it should be there, but you can't find it, is ask. Admin like Aristeo and Nephele tend to be on at least once a day and so if you leave a question on their Talk page you should get a fairly quick answer.
Good work on those new NPC pages by the way. They look good - heaps of links! :D --Actreal 03:16, 6 October 2006 (EDT)
Sorry, I was going to make them all have an 's' at the end, but then I remembered that the plural forms of "Altmer", "Bosmer", and "Dunmer" are the same as the singular forms, so in the interests of grammatical accuracy, I left them off. I've confused myself several times because of that as well. Just remember to always use the plural, and that for the elven races, the plural and singular are the same word. --TheRealLurlock 09:20, 6 October 2006 (EDT)
No problem! BTW, the "crib sheet" on your sandbox is really useful for identifying the race of NPCs without having to find them in the game (I don't have the construction set). --Hoggwild5 15:09, 6 October 2006 (EDT)

Links[edit]

You may want to read UESPWiki:Style_Guide#Avoid_Cluttering_Links for the wiki guidelines on links. It's definitely a guideline that it took me a while to get used to, but my fellow UESPers have obviously succeeded in converting me: Light the Dragonfires does now seem to me to have more links than it needs. Typically using a single link the first time a topic/person/place is mentioned is enough. Thanks! --Nephele 14:46, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Kewl! I'll go back and clean it up. Thanks! --Hoggwild5 16:15, 8 October 2006 (EDT)
Thanks for doing that! --Nephele 22:27, 8 October 2006 (EDT)

Cleanup Tags[edit]

I just made it so that you can add a "reason" to a cleanup tag. Just type in {{cleanup|reason why the page needs to be cleaned up}}. --Aristeo 07:51, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

Oh good! I was just about to start keeping a list. Saves me the trouble. Thanks! --Hoggwild5 10:01, 18 October 2006 (EDT)
