I am not really sure how ths works or if i am doing it right but i have a question

My fame was at 90 while infamy was at 45. While on a mission i was over encumbered so i used my gray cowl. When i went into Anvil to unload at my houses i got stopped by the guards, as expected, and ran. After unloading i went out to shadowmere to get away but she was attacking a guard. To get out of the situation i killed the guard, but i was wearing the gray cowl. My infamy points shot through the roof! I know have a fame of 3 and infamy of 103. It is the same wether or not i ahve the gray cowl on. What do i do! I already deleted the save previous to killing te guard.

That doesn't sound right. When you wear the cowl your fame and infamy become those of the Gray Fox: any crimes you commit while wearing the cowl will affect those scores but should be reset when you take the cowl off again.
