Peculiarity of the Broh-Kah
by Anonymous
A Westerner attempts to make sense of the strange frog-men of the east

Kill. Breed. Sleep. Repeat. These are the only coherent thoughts that ever cross the mind of your typical Broh-Kah, if they can even be described as having minds at all. Zoologists have determined them to be completely incapable of reproduction with any of the other humanoid races found within and outside of Tamriel (barring the Sload, who barely qualify as “humanoid”), and since they show little other sign of civilization, they remain unclassified as an actual race of Nirn. By Oblivion, the only reason they are known by the name “Broh-Kah” is because everything they say contains the words “Broh-Kah” (which, confusingly enough, also seems to be the name of their chief deity and god of war in their pantheon).

So, what are the furry frog-like Broh-Kah of Yneslea? Their bodies seem to rely heavily on water, and they do tend to live most of their lives within the abandoned oceanic cities of the Padomaic they stole from their previous inhabitants. Their largely underwater lifestyle has resulted in them developing a third eye that illuminates a special light that allows them to navigate their surroundings, but seems to also give them access to what the Echmer have determined to be a species-wide biological quirk of psychic energy. The Broh-Kah knack for savagery and single-mindedness is terrifying to behold, as they are more than capable of ripping out their own bones and using them as weapons (as their natural regenerative properties is almost on par with that of a troll); thankfully, they prefer to wield weapons and armor they scavenge from surface villages they raid instead of constantly mutilating themselves.

Although it is nearly impossible to teach a Broh-Kah to speak any form of language (not from a lack of trying, but due to how extremely difficult it is to capture one alive and not have it start gorging on itself in captivity), some unconventional specimens apprehended by legionnaires and trained patiently by scholars have revealed that they hold an unspeakable amount of hatred for the dreugh—which is quite honestly incredible due to the fact that (according to the Echmer) dreugh have not existed remotely near Yneslea for thousands of years, aside from the rare clusters that cling like coral reefs to the bottoms of ships.

“Broh-Kah think-think Druue! Broh-Kah NAYVAH no think-think Druue!” or “The Broh-Kah remember the Dreugh! The Broh-Kah will never forget the Dreugh!” were the words of one captive, whose confirmation of his intense hatred for the dreugh almost included him eating the hand of the legionnaire holding up a picture of the crustaceans. “Broh-Kah rad waturds an fuut Druue al ear! Broh-Kah no-no ear” or “We rode the waters and fought the Dreugh all the way here! We don’t really know where here is” seems to imply a possible origin point in Tamriel for the frog-men, but some scholars are of the belief that the dreugh are not originally of Nirn altogether (whether that means they came from Oblivion, or an entirely different world, is where the theories start to differ), which would mean that the Broh-Kah are also not of Nirn by association as preposterous as that sounds.
