The Pale Book of Riddles: Arahd
by The Ghoulish Troubadour, Seeker of Thrills and Thriller of Seekers
One of several transcendent books written by a dangerous, powerful necromantic entity

Oh, you have stumbled across the Book of Arahd! I spent so many years plucking the crap-lined strings of space and time to write this one, that I did, didn’t I my beautiful Ria-Na? Oh, how your bones shine in the weir-light tonight, my wretched, my beloved, my most precious instrument! Dance and scream more for our visitor, who graces the pages born of our love, and of our pain! Chocolate drops dipped in sweet peas, baking bread from worms and dirt. Find more of my Riddles, oh please, oh please, oh please! So close to fun, so close to…visitation…

It flows in life,

and pools in death.

It stirs with movement,

and stills in breath.

Loving red with gentle heaves,

it's the last thing that leaves.

A man lies twitching, gurgling on his own entrails, and yet there is no blood. His eyes are closed in torment, and yet there are no wounds. Which assassin befell this man, dear reader: The Brotherhood or the Tong?

A starving child runs up to you in the street, streaks of blood painting his clothes like a canvas, and says to you, “If you are the one who killed my parents, then please strike me dead. If you are not the one who killed my parents, then please bring them back.” What do you do, dear reader?

A vampire lord invites three hunters to dinner―a Dunmer, an Argonian, and a Nord. He lets them feast to their hearts content from his pantry, and asks them if they’d like something special prepared for the last course. The Dunmer asks for boiled kwama eggs, while the Argonian requests wamasu pie. The Nord (of course!) would just like some mead with juniper berries on the side. The vampire lord says this will be no mere chore and now it’s nearly time: Which of the four is going to die?

"If what I say is true, and what you say is false, why should I trust you not to kill me? Now please, talk."
