ON-quest-The Tower Sentinels 02.jpg

A really great depiction of how far ESO has come in its character animations. This isn't even the main focus of any scene in the related quest, it's a small gem that the devs decided to put in as a way of building up the overall atmosphere of the situation. The scene itself is frightening, the Daedra are choking a sapiarch as he's hanging off the edge of a balcony to an endless abyss below, moments away from death; it's just an overall great shot.

  • Weak Oppose: I can see the appeal of this picture, but for me the dull lighting and smallness of the main subject make me hesitant to support. Also, is it just me or does the angle make the bench and banner look very isometric/out of place? —Dillonn241 (talk) 09:09, 27 July 2019 (UTC)
  • Oppose: Good image, but an angle a little bit closer to the action might be better, though I don't know whether or not that is feasible. I agree with the previous opposition as well on the lighting. Forfeit (talk) 20:58, 12 October 2019 (GMT)
  • Oppose: Too dark and hard to look at for me when it's a thumbnail. That makes it very hard for me to want to show this off on the main page where most people will see it as a thumbnail. -damon  talkcontribs 18:28, 29 February 2020 (GMT)

ON-creature-Hulking Werewolf.jpg

A very large enemy captured completely in frame, which can be pretty difficult in dungeons, as not many people get the chance to photograph enemies like this without spell effects or combat cues getting in the way. File:ON-quest-God of Schemes.jpg

ON-quest-God of Schemes.jpg

This is a shot I could never dream of getting. The scene this was taken during moves quickly. This screenshot was taken in mid-air and while in motion, but the artist manages to maintain the perfect camera angle to bring us a shot that isn't angled too high or too low. That alone is impressive, but the sky is the perfect color to complement the subject without distracting from it, the figures contrast in color to give your eyes a treat, and there's no noise to take away from the primary subject matter. This is an example of an exceptionally balanced image, and an action shot, no less. Both figures are entirely in frame. Not a single pixel of screen real estate is wasted; both Molag Bal and the player character are placed in a way that balances the left and right side of the image perfectly, ensuring that no space in the composition is wasted.

Molag Bal is a massive figure, but he's further in the background, allowing whoever took it to get a full shot. He's in motion, making him a more interesting subject to look at and granting him more of that artistic "weight". The player character is red, in stark contrast to the blues of Coldharbour and the antagonist. Furthermore, the protagonist's closer proximity to the camera grants them extra weight, allowing them enough prominence in the image to keep Molag Bal from stealing the spotlight entirely. The sky in the top left gives your eyes a break, and is one aspect that ensures that there's no background noise to distract your brain with. The empty space around the subject in the top left adds to the harmony; there's something important going on here, but the shot isn't cluttered.

This is a stunning composition, and one that must have been very difficult to get. There's no way I could have gotten both the protagonist and the Daedric Prince perfectly in frame on my first try, while in motion, no less. Next, The Rim of the Sky is going to get a shot of an important character's death in some quest line that unironically looks like a Renaissance painting.

  • Support: It tells a story and does it well. --Talyyn (talk) 05:57, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Support: I'm generally opposed to the idea of a screenshot representing the player and all of their kit, looks, etc, because I'm preferential to the Bethesda take on things where the appearance of who the player is is deliberately left vague and not personified because the player can be anyone, but I appreciate that's not always possible in an MMO and in some cases like now it's advantageous to show a shot like this of the player in that final face-off, and it's certainly incredibly well composed considering all you've described went into it and it would be a shame not to show such a good image off. -Damon talkedits 16:54, 30 June 2020 (UTC)
  • Oppose: A well-timed and perfectly serviceable image, but the Daedric shield on her back is clipping through the player model. —Legoless (talk) 00:46, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

Spear of Bitter Mercy summon power.

  • Support: As the nominator, I think it's quite a good shot showcasing the ability of the spear, with both looking in the same direction and at a good angle Imperialbattlespire (talk) 11:43, 11 May 2020 (GMT)
  • Support: I was quite fond of the previous version of this image but the new one blows it away. The framing is perfect and being able to show the summoned atronach like that is very important for the Spear of Bitter Mercy lore article. • Support: I want to support this, assuming this is the default outfit of Gogh. The only thing that I was worried about is that it is a square image, therefore not following the existing image standards. However, I've once uploaded a 4:3 image, and was asked to crop it to 1:1 to better fit the contents of the image. Actually, I seem to have misremembered that, but I think a different AR is allowed if it better potrays the subject. So that logic would apply here, I don't think it's problematic. ~ Dwarfmp (talk) 03:58, 28 June 2020 (UTC); edited 04:12, 28 June 2020 (UTC)

  • Weak Oppose: Not because it is a bad image, but we have had several featured images of wolves and werewolves howling by moonlight, including one very similar to this proposal. However, it is only a weak oppose as they are all still different enough that I wouldn't be mad if this proposal passed. --Ilaro (talk) 13:35, 11 January 2020 (GMT)
  • Support: Whilst we have had similar images in the past, this is still a good image and we haven't had a featured image similar in a number of years so I wouldn't consider that an issue. Kiz(email - talk) 16:38, 11 January 2020 (GMT)

  • Oppose: I agree with Legoless to a degree. I'm not opposed to featuring a similar image, I nominated an image similar to an older one once myself and saw it pass the nomination, but it was of a reasonably different subject and was, in my opinion, better than the original that I had nominated. This one is too similar to other ones of a similar style of picture, and it's subject is not even particularly bright or pleasing to look at, in my opinion and isn't good enough for the front page. -damon  talkcontribs 18:28, 29 February 2020 (GMT)

A very neat candid shot, I find it intriguing how it seems like the wispmother is one with the wind in the air. • Oppose: With half of his head cut off and with blurry textures he's not very menacing. From another angle and in a different pose this character could look lot better, but for now, oppose. Phoenix Neko (talk) 05:40, 6 May 2019 (UTC)
    • Comment: I suppose you are right, I concede that a picture of this same scene with his head fully in view and with the blurry back of his hand less in focus would be better. SMcM (talk) 21:15, 14 May 2019 (UTC)

A high-quality screenshot showing all three netch pets together. The reason this is significant is because this requires purchasing all of these limited-time Crown Store pets for use as furnishings. This image resembles the kind of work done in other gamespaces with the use of console manipulation, except here it was done entirely in-game using the furnishing system and cash transactions. ON-npc-Kassandra 04.jpg

This is a very cool image depicting the antagonist of Murkmire ESO DLC and it comes from the last encounter with her. Since this is basically taken during the fight, it is quite an achievement to manage to take this image. Kassandra is normally hidden inside this miregaunt guardian, so it takes some luck (or patience) to capture her in this cool pose. I should know, because I was there and tried! Besides that, the image also has good quality and sharpness. This is definitely one of the more unique ESO images that we have here on UESP.

    • Weak Oppose: Based on the clipping issue Rim of the Sky brought up, I think this needs to be retaken to be FI-worthy, especially since we have so many at the moment already in line. I don't agree on the lighting aspect, but he also has a point with it blending with the background, which is always something to look out for in these. —Dillonn241 (talk) 05:30, 3 November 2018 (UTC)
  • Oppose: There's a lot wrong with this image being an FI. It's fine as an image of its subject matter, but there is quite evidently clipping between the grass textures on the floor and the plant's model. I thought this was a loading screen, i.e. something an artist spent hours drawing, but this is actually an in-game screenshot, thanks to Talyyn. With Murkmire just released, I think it's an excellent candidate. I'd go so far as to say we should expedite this one so it's timely, but I'm not sure if there's any precedent for that. If the voters decide that it's appropriate though, we should go ahead and do it.

The subject itself isn't particularly interesting either. If it has to be from Pets of Skyrim, I'd definitely prefer File:SR-creature-Arachnia 02.jpg, though I think some of Myrwatch's are the best so far. —Dillonn241 (talk) 09:36, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

  • Neutral: The building in the image is great to look at and has a super interesting design, but I feel like it needs a better angle than the one given. I know the Brass Fortress isn't an easy place to take pictures in but I still feel like this image isn't the best it has the potential to be. The Rim of the Sky (talk) 05:23, 3 November 2018 (UTC)

ON-quest-The Dreaming Cave 02.jpg

This is an image captured by Vyraesi, our currently most active ESO photographer with lots of beautiful images in her portfolio. Although the story behind this image is also interesting, the reason I'm nominating it is because it has a really unique cinematic effect - just look at Valsirenn's posture and face! There's not a lot of ESO images that have this. Moving on, this image is from Summerset's main story quest line. In this particular quest we venture deep into Spiral Skein with Valsirenn, to find and rescue one very significant character in ESO - needless to say quite an epic adventure. This image deserves to be shown on the main page.

  • Support: I'm not sure how this image was even taken. Everything is crystal clear and lined up perfectly. All sorts of things to look at when you see it up close too. —Dillonn241 (talk) 19:09, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: This is an incredibly cinematic screenshot!--FioFioFio (talk) 19:38, 23 September 2018 (UTC)

OB-place-Aleswell.jpg

A picturesque scene. A pretty countryside village in the foreground with the mountains, Lake Rumare and the Imperial City making an impressive backdrop.

  • Support: Super image. A good overview of the town is still captured along with showing one of many great views you can see from that town. Forfeit (talk) 16:22, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: The lighting is better than a lot of Oblivion images. Definitely worth having on the main page for a while. —Dillonn241 (talk) 00:08, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: I'm biased. I see Oblivion, I support. —Legoless (talk) 00:29, 13 September 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: A nice shot of the village, showing the scale of the world. And as a bonus, no visible NPCs! Echo (talk) 18:54, 14 September 2018 (UTC)
    • Comment: Actually if you squint you can see a farmer (which is actually quite unusual for Aleswell!). —Legoless (talk) 14:32, 15 September 2018 (UTC)

ON-npc-Malisu.jpg

An awesome image showing the transformation from True Cat to dro-m'Athra. It's a great companion image for our new Lore:Dro-m'Athra article, but I feel the quality is so good it ought to be featured. If you compare it to the older version of the file (taken by yours truly), you can tell that this image manages to capture the NPC in an interesting pose, and shows off the transformation very well.

  • Support: I had no idea what was going on in this image before reading the article, but even without context it was intriguingly creepy. Echo (talk) 17:32, 25 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: This is the first NPC image in a long while (looks like since 2015 and that was a ghost) and it works! I think for an NPC image to stand out among the thousands there are for ESO, something needs to be happening. And what's happening here hasn't been seen in a previous game: sort of like transforming into a werewolf or vampire lord if I understand correctly. —Dillonn241 (talk) 11:19, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: I agree with the nominator's words, I remember when I was there exploring the first time and thought that this scene would be a good FI. Also, agree with what Dillonn says (except you're wrong in that we do in fact have a ESO NPC image as current FI :P). Tib (talk) 11:36, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
    • Comment: Oh, I was sure that was a quest image because of the aspect ratio, but you're right that it's categorized under NPC. In that case, we haven't had a 1:1 NPC image in a long time! —Dillonn241 (talk) 12:55, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
  • Support: I don't have a lot to say but cool image. Shows emotion that you rarely see from NPCs.--FioFioFio (talk) 00:21, 22 September 2018 (UTC)
